As an added bonus Island Time/tiki bar is located right on Sanibel Inn's property. Another great part is that you don't have to be a hotel guest to enjoy Island T. because it's open to the public and it's by the pool making it easy to stop for lunch+cocktails without missing any pool time. Hubs and I stopped in twice during our four-night stay and ordered salads, fish tacos and plenty of drinks. While there are tables available, the bar is definitely the place to sit- especially because there are fans keeping you sort of cool and those fans don't reach the tables. The staff is friendly and the GM, Jaycell (?) runs this bar like a pro. She made my first 'Rum Runner' with strength. My second one, on a different day was watered down and tasted like juice than a cocktail. The food was another letdown. Hubs' fish tacos were loaded with veg and not enough protein. And for the price of those tacos, you expect better. Island Time gets major points for convenience, but quality is where it misses the mark.

We were here for over two weeks and they were out of Grand Marnier the entire time. at one point, one of the servers told me that they probably were never gonna get Grand Marnier in again because they were taking their Grand- Margarita )that has a grand floater) off the menu. I've worked in and patronized many bars over the years and Grand Manier is a standard alcohol to carry. So whether one specialty drink includes it or not., It should still be in the bar inventory. One of the specialty beers they carry was out for two weeks. At one point, the only tequila they had was 1800 coconut tequila. With the multitude of liquor stores on the island and the two grocery stores, with that at the very least they could pick something up on island, or have somebody grab something in Fort Myers on their way in to work. Two different times servers told us they were sorry that everything was so slow, they were slammed and out of many ingredients. If only their tiki bar was part of the Sanibel Inn that had no vacancy during those two weeks?!?!? it's like they had no idea that there would be lots of visitors during the holidays. And I know for a fact that the Sanibel Chamber of Commerce shares occupancy numbers with the local businesses so they can be prepared. But unfortunately, like many other businesses on Sanibel, they did not use this information to prepare themselves and sadly lost out on a lot of business.

We were thrilled to walk in to a hopping joint. Loud, boisterous and fun crowd at the bar (in the best way). Families just leaving who had pub food for dinner. Couples starting a late supper. Inside there is a large square bar. There are four TV screens hanging on the side "walls" of the bar. Then there are four TV sets hanging on the outside of the bar. Plus another huge set toward the front. Of you want to see a game (or multiple games) this is the place to come. Fun drink menu, too! I tried the blueberry lemonade which was refreshing. It wasn't overly sweet which I particularly liked. We didn't try the food but what I saw looked great. Loads of people had ordered flatbread pizzas -- yum. t was raining so people weren't using the outside. But what a set up they have. There's a huge fire pit outside with couch seating. Additional tables/chairs if you want to eat outside. It would be a lovely way to spend an evening.

We visited here as a "chill" place for watching the sunset, dolphins (each day they hung out at the new dock below) and the channel boating activity. You can see our beverages: refreshing and cold, see pics, perfect for Florida weather. The salads were fresh and vibrant. The Carnival on flat bread was tasty. The Angus Burger with cheese, hit the spot, as did the crisscross fries - they were very crunchy. The Street Tacos were the hit. They were larger than traditional street tacos and the flavored red pepper aioli added the rich punch to the avocado and blackened Mahi Mahi. This was a good low vibe, sunset watching location.

What really bothered me was when a tall, older white man arrived after me and was served before I was. I can't speak to the bartender's intentions, but I can say that the way I was treated made me feel discriminated against and extremely uncomfortable. After waiting that long, watching someone who arrived later get immediate attention was unacceptable. Everyone deserves to be acknowledged and treated equally, regardless of who they are. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unwelcome, and I won't be returning.

After the races, we decided to go to Escondido, which is the speakeasy in Taco Works, in Cape Coral. We were two couples having a great time hanging at the bar. We ordered four drinks (old fashions- not cheap, BTW) and after about 30 minutes we PAID our bill!!! Due to the fact that the drinks weren't completely finished, we stayed a little bit longer. After a bit, one of the bartenders gave us the bill AGAIN !! Thankfully, the receipt of payment was sent to my phone and when I showed it to the bartender, she said "oh" and another bartender stepped up behind her to say that he didn't know either; HE was the one who gave us the electronic receipt for payment only minutes before, how could he forget? The bar wasn't busy, not even 10 people with two bartenders sitting at the bar (and we were four of the 10); so they cannot claim that they were overrun with customers! Neither offered an apology nor any acknowledgment of their error/oversight! Hence, our "RED FLAG" was alerted because in ANY establishment, isn't it the job of a BARTENDER/SERVER to KNOW if a bill has been paid, and if they honestly didn't, shouldn't they acknowledge with an apology rather than simply "oh". We were sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM!! We will NOT go back because it seems they have a "game" going on where they try to take advantage of people, or they're entirely incompetent at their job.
