THE WORST. Do not ever hire this company. I hired Pathways at the suggestion of the hospital…read morehospice coordinator. From day one, they pushed and pushed and pushed me to have people and services and products delivered to my house immediately. Had I not had my Mom at my house resting - as she had only had weeks to live - I guess that would have been ok. BUT to have people pushing me to come over (the nurse, the nurse's aide, the social worker, the pharmacy delivery, the chaplain, the massage person, equipment delivery person, etc., etc.) was ridiculous. I needed peace and quiet and time with my Mom - not disrupting phone calls and visits. They couldn't coordinate all these calls/people into ONE central person to get things done??? I had 6 or 7 people calling at all hours to push their way in to my house. Unbelievable. I am guessing that the more people, products, services they could push on to me--the more they could bill Medicare - and therefore the motivation was entirely profit - NOT CARE. You would think a hospice organization would have CARE as their primary goal but instead, it's a business, like any other and profit is their only motive. FURTHER MORE, and this is the icing on the cake, I CALLED THEM an hour after my Mom died to request next day pick up of the hospital bed, etc., as I did not want these things in my house any longer --understandably. The 'nurse' (?) who called me back was so rude, abrupt, uncaring and 'put out' by the fact that she had to call me back at 9pm on a Monday night that I will never ever forget this call. WORSE, she didn't even get the job done. She said she'd coordinate equipment pick up for the next day - but she didn't. I had to call AGAIN two days later to get it picked up. UNBELIEVABLE. Please email me if you need more info and I will respond. Do not ever hire this company. dedec@aol.com

They falsifiy information do that it can pass with State. Breanna, Ast. DON and Nurse Sandy even changed my mothers medication pass time without our knowledge or her PCP's order. If State would not notify them and show up unannounced maybe thing wouldn't be allowed. I'd noticed that a lot of workers walk around with their ear buds in talking on the phone even when they should be assisting residents in the shower. Also, they will put your loved one on Psych meds without notifying family not even checking their health history. Maybe because the Chief of Psych is also part owner of Delmar Gardens, seems like a racket. No one cares, like I was told by Charge Nurse Sandy "I don't know and I don't care" when discussing my mother's ER diagnosis. It's all about having a body, even if not qualified. Richard( Admn), Brenda (DON), Breanna (Ast. DON,), Charge Nurse Sandy, Marci(Social Worker), Optum Nurses (Sara & Amanda) PCP Alex Rudoi will all burn in hell for how you have NEGLECTED my mother damn near killing her again with the same medication Levothyroxine that was changed to be taken at night but is suppose to be given in A.M. on an empty stomach. All will ROT in HELL.

We were hopeful and supportive that Delmar Gardens West would be a better placement...and it was. Supportive nursing staff, quiet environment, clean and no offensive odors, supportive personnel from top to bottom. When reading nursing home reviews there is so much negativity that it can be frightening. The reality is that no one wants to be sick and in need of nursing home care. Go and observe, do your research and visit often. Be an advocate for your loved one. Delmar Gardens West was a good choice for my Mother in Law.

Hospice Care isn't really care from the company itself, it basically manages the medications to be prescribed and that is all. My in-home nurse care by Rhonda was AMAZING and she went above and beyond her call. She was the shining point of this entire establishment. Nurses were sporactic in their visits, which can happen, but at the time of death approaching, when I needed a nurse present the most, CRICKETS!!! And when she finally arrived after my mother passed, she actually had me and my niece (my mother's granddaughter) help her turn my mother after watching her try to push any remaining fluids from within her body!! If not watching my mother struggle to breath, see her foaming at the mouth and not knowing if I was administering the meds given appropriately or enough to ensure she was not suffering was irrevocably NOT ACCEPTABLE! If it wasn't for her caregiver, Rhonda, who helped bath her and dress her with love, shared genuine conversation and brought presence of peace, I would have only given given 1 star! She deserves 5 stars, but I am reviewing the company. I experienced a similar experience when my father passed from hospice as well. I am not ever sure why these companies exist except is a final way to get their money or the money of their loved ones. Hospice should be about keeping the patient comfortable, keeping up with their mental struggles of approaching death, showing compassion above all else. Seasons is missing the mark.
