Banstead

Bad Service. Went in today at 2:30 asked for a table out back on the deck. Was passed off to a…read morewaiter who started taking me in and then said there was 1 table inside out back was closed. I ordered a coffee and a water. I'm still waiting on the water. Looked at the food menu given to me by the waiter. 10 mins later I order the salt beef sandwich. Same waiter told me they didn't have any left. Why didn't he tell me what was unavailable at the start. Then he said have another sandwich (not in a nice way). At this point I asked for the coffee to go. Obviously that was too complicated and he brought it in a porcelain cup. This place is much better on the weekend

What Banstead has been missing…read more A thoughtfully considered, independent restaurant serving excellent meals from breakfast to dinner. The food is precisely what's been lacking in Banstead. Finally there's a real option to find quality meals that will hopefully draw locals and visitors alike, away from the chain restaurants and coffee bars that have taken over the high street in recent years. I imagine other independent restaurants are going to have to up their game to compete now too - here's to healthy competition raising standards. The cute interior design, with a contemporary Art Deco twist and mellow jazz playing at an unobtrusive level in the background creates a great atmosphere. If there's any criticism to be made it's that the drinks can take a while. We've been back 2 days running already and I'm sure we'll be back again.

Absolute poor following of government guidelines between employees…read more No transparency between manger and costumer when questioned about the picture attached to this review, the picture shows a number of employees mingling and mixing in the shop half hour after closing hours, no one is wearing wearing face covering nor adhering to government guidelines on social distancing. This poses a huge risk to the employees and public health, this could have ended on a bunch of employees falling sick or even worse... infecting members of the public due to asymptomatic employees spreading the corona virus. When contacting the owner of the establishment he was in denial and did not want to discuss matters and was quite unhelpful and rude. Explained to him the detrimental risks of having this establishment do nothing to stop the spread of COVID-19 between the workers and how easy it can be to spread this to the public, when contacting the manager of the shop, I was told that they're following the 2 meters and keeping back to back work, the shop is very small and thus following those to guidelines does nothing to protect the employees if they're not wearing face coverings. A face covering will further protect employees a simple cough could mean an outbreak in that area, according to the owner nothing wrong with the things he does after explaining to him the risks and is wilfully happy to allow its employees and the public to be on risk on his ignorance. It is devastatingly unfair that many businesses loose their livelihood due and some close down and suffer enormous loss, when establishments like this get to operate and profit while other businesses who might be deemed much safer, are shut down due to lockdown. Establishments have been closed down to stop the spread and this establishment is allowed to operate while allowing its employees to be at risk every day that they're open. This shop should be shut down if it allows those risks to happen.

Cheam

You may have noticed that the weather has been atrocious the last few weeks. The freezing…read moretemperatures have resulted in my field hockey matches being cancelled the last few weekends. Unfortunately, the match at Cheam was cancelled very late by the opposition captain who arrived late!!! So, both teams were all assembled by the time he got there to make the official decision not to play. As we had already cleared time in our schedule to play, my team decided instead to have breakfast together. A quick wander through Cheam Village brought us to Piggies, which was warm and serving cooked breakfasts. Piggies offers a full sandwich bar service but cooks hot breakfasts to order as well. My team had a variety of different items, ranging from scrambled egg to sausages to mushrooms. Other than a few mixups with orders, the food did arrive quite fast. Piggies was a nice place to spend a morning warming up after the disappointment of not being to play our match.

Made fresh to order it is the epitomny of a great little local sandwich shop. In fact I used to have driving lessons round Cheam and my instructor and I had a conversaton about good Piggies is and the next thing I know we are pulling in and getting food. I would agree with Sarah's comment about good value for money too. It is my favourite food place in Cheam Village I reckon.
