Lori was very personable and asked a few questions to gauge what I was looking to achieve, and she also suggested dry brushing and what I could achieve with dry brushing and the benefits. (I immediately went out and bought a dry brush.) The massage was great! I didn't know what to expect at first - and Lori walked me through the process and what she was feeling. She picked up that I'm tight in my shoulders and and my stomach - I was amazed! She focused on my "pain points" - but didn't neglect the rest of my body. (Take note - Lymphatic Massages are soft touch and not a deep tissue, hard massage.) When I walked out of Lori's office, I felt great and oddly, a bit lighter. My friend and I went to lunch and I was far less bloated after our meal. I was amazed! It's now about 3 days after my massage, and I still feel great and I've just made another appointment for next month - and I hope to make this a part of my regular routine.

I've driven by this place probably thousands of times since they open 3 years ago. It's on my way in to and from work. I take Southfield road pretty much every day. It caught my eye when it first opened up as I'm a huge fan of thai massage and still remember some of my best massages that I received were all in Thailand. I realize the cost of an hour massage here is about three times more than I would've paid in Thailand though. It's was so dark in the lobby, I thought that Thai herbal massage was closed even though I had an appointment tonight. Someone did come out and to the desk and told me that my therapist would be coming out. She did a minute or so later. No paperwork here. This woman took me to a room, it's much bigger than I would have thought. She asked if I knew what I needed to do and I said yes. I confirmed that she wanted me face down and she said yes. She told me there's a hook on the back of the door for my jacket. She exited and I got ready for my massage. Ka, my massage therapist came and knocked on my room to ask if I was ready. I told her I was. She came in right at the start of my appointment time, nice. Ka put a hot cloth on feet, used it to rub and clean my feet, felt good. She later used other hot cloths for my shoulder, upper chest, arms, legs and back area. Partly for a quick cleaning from the oils and to give a last bit of soothing massage. It felt really comforting and warm and calming. Ka's pressure was great, she mixed up her pressure too, from light touches to much deeper massage work. She would use her fingers, legs, knees, heel of her palm, elbows and knuckles. She stretched me out well too. She was barefooted so she could easily and nimbly move around the bed and work around and sometimes kneeling on top of my legs or back. Don't be worried but this is normal for a Thai massage. Also, they do some glute (yes, your bum) work so be sure to let the therapist know any areas you don't want massaged at all, mine is the head. Not cool with anyone touching my head with greasy fingers and let Ka know, she stayed away from my head the whole hour. This is probably one of the best deep tissue massages I've had outside of Thailand, that's sad, but so true. I will definitely be back. This was truly a deep tissue massage and exactly what I wanted. The stretching was great too. I already wanted to have another massage tomorrow. I was thinking how great it would be to get a massage from Ka every week. That would be so great. Just a follow-up, had a great and deep sleep after my massage last night. I was still so well relaxed by bedtime that I feel asleep. I don't usually sleep through the night normally at all.

I recommend Phillip learn to listen instead talking over the client when the client is voicing their needs. The most concerning comment was said as he was massaging my back. He said that he recommended that I get a female masseuse next time. Because he works on body builders and likes to apply more pressure and that I would probably file a lawsuit against him. And sarcastically laughed. Building: The Ashiatsu Room is located down a hallway at the back of the "strip center" type mall. It's a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. You do not have to worry about being disturbed, or disrupted by your surroundings. Therapist: Tina is very good and caring. She takes time, if this is your first time, to explain how everything is going to work. She is very good at listening to where your problem areas are. Massage: This is great for deep tissue, and I recommend the 90 minutes. This is not the basic Asian lady walking back and forth over your back and hurting you (and possibly damaging you). Tina is very mindful of the pressure, and uses bars to hold herself up to gauge the correct pressure. She also works from many different angles including sitting, while continuing to use her feet. She does occasionally use her hands as well, but his is 90% feet. If you haven't had this type of massage, I highly recommend it... and make sure you use someone who is well trained and educated like Tina. 5 STARS

Works so great for deep tissue, and for really tight areas.. I suffer from muscle spasms quite a bit, and I felt so amazing when I was done!!
