My oldest, who was in Karate before COVID, decided to also join Cooperative Spirit and he immediately loved it. It's not just karate that is being taught here, it's also other forms of martial arts. And the fact that they train not just to learn to defend themselves, but also to be able to compete, I think is what captivated my son the most. I've been attending school through Wah Lum for over 15 years now and I also went to China with Master Chan. I've studied some Kung Fu and Tai Chi at the school on Goldenrod but also attended many special sessions for anniversaries and cruises. I can't say any thing bad about these schools. They run a tight ship so don't think you are going to get off easy! You must train hard and take the training seriously. If you think they are going to let you flop around the temple and be lazy well you need to find a different place to be lazy. There is no lazy at Wah Lum!!! A+ school and Master Chan is the best. I will always thank him for the teachings that he has given me personally and also that privledge of learning at one of his many other schools. I will always think of this style and school as being my home away from home because they treat there students like family. Oh, did you see that I mentioned cruises? and the trip to China? That's because every once in a while they get the schools together and they go on trips. During those trips they practice Kung Fu and Tai Chi. My trip to China was amazing and we spent three weeks in China visiting the different schools and temples. The cruises are basic 5, 7 or 10 day cruises but the best thing is that you get to train at Kung Fu at sea! Pretty freaking cool!!! Check the schedule and find a time when you are able to go by and check things out. Bring your kids to have them check out the kids classes! My son has been involved in different types of martial arts since he was 4 years old. He told me…read moreover the summer he's ready to move to the next level & would like to possibly compete in MMA. I signed him up to try their complimentary classes. This is the only place I've been to that gives you 2 weeks of complimentary classes to see if you like it. They have quite a few programs available for kids as well as adults. All the instructors are really personable & friendly. The kids really love them & they handle large classes well. After the 2 week trial period my son decided he liked it & we signed up for the program which is a 1 year commitment. They have 3 different program levels available which they offer 3 payment options. You can put a small down payment & pay the rest over monthly installments, the next option is a larger down payment with the balance broken up into 2 more payments or you can pay all at once with a 25% discount off the full price. They offer 2 different age groups of kids classes, one for the little guys up to 5 years old & the older kids up to 12. The classes are a good size, about 20+ kids. Once they warm up they split the group up separating the older & bigger kids from the smaller ones. The classes are run efficiently & the instructors do a good job of keeping the kids focused & on point. They attend competitions during the year if your child is interested in competing. There is also adult classes available.
