I signed him up to try their complimentary classes. This is the only place I've been to that gives you 2 weeks of complimentary classes to see if you like it. They have quite a few programs available for kids as well as adults. All the instructors are really personable & friendly. The kids really love them & they handle large classes well. After the 2 week trial period my son decided he liked it & we signed up for the program which is a 1 year commitment. They have 3 different program levels available which they offer 3 payment options. You can put a small down payment & pay the rest over monthly installments, the next option is a larger down payment with the balance broken up into 2 more payments or you can pay all at once with a 25% discount off the full price. They offer 2 different age groups of kids classes, one for the little guys up to 5 years old & the older kids up to 12. The classes are a good size, about 20+ kids. Once they warm up they split the group up separating the older & bigger kids from the smaller ones. The classes are run efficiently & the instructors do a good job of keeping the kids focused & on point. They attend competitions during the year if your child is interested in competing. Video games, after school Art, stuff like that, I see as extracurricular. My son's drive to hit the mark and do the right thing and exercise discipline when in Michael's presence is mind blowing. He also took leadership class that teach him to be respect, obedient, patient , etc. It's a lot more than just kicking and punching. Staffs are very nice and pay attention to detail. From my experience though the tournament that all kids from different location will compete, my son did everything right when some kids in same rank or higher cannot do. I'm sure the staffs here teach my son well and right. Most importantly, I never force him to go practice. He likes to go on his own and enjoy the class.

For a martial arts school they are very reasonable, $95/month for 3 classes per week. Sifu is a phenomenal teacher & great with the kids. The classes are run very efficiently & the kids follow with respect. It's not one of those martial arts schools that are run like a boot camp. Besides the kids Kung fu classes they also offer adult classes for both Kung fu & Tai Chi. The adult classes I think are 4 or 5 times per week, which you can attend as many as you like. This is definitely a family establishment with a lot of the owners family working here teaching & helping at the front desk. They really make you feel welcomed. During the holidays they have a big party for the kids & families with lots of food, gifts & prizes. If you are looking for quality martial arts training in a friendly environment definitely give them a try. They also have another location in East Orlando near Goldenrod.

The costs for classes is relatively inexpensive. Classes are offered for all ages and physical condition. Hours will vary unless you have a private lesson. Overall I believe it is the best martial arts school I know, with the focus always being family and students rather than profit.

(A reference to my 2023 posting)…read more After almost 3 years of my high school age son taking lessons here he was suddenly and unexpectedly placed into a class of about 18 children about 6-7 years old. When I spoke with the owner about it that same day, and again with my wife and I the next morning (today) we asked that our 15-year old son be moved back into a class that was age appropriate. Our son is 6 feet tall and 190 lb by the way. When the facility owner continued to try to justify the new program that resulted in this and repeatedly REFFUSED to place him back into his old age appropriate class (that was also training that same day) we told the owner we would have pull him from the class if he could not train and attend his normal practices WITH HIS OWN AGE GROUP, The owner responded by saying, "Then pull him from the program". So we in fact did that just moments ago. I have more I could, say but will reserve those negative concerns as I don't want to pile on, but clearly have an overall different opinion of this venue now that I have been able to see things over a longer course of time. Not to mention the other parental stories I have heard. Thus, I felt the need to clarify my first posting, which has obviously changed. The positive....., the facility is nice! Maybe because I was raised as an army brat and that was the only way to talk to adults on the base, but I think it helped me so much as an adult and I always wanted to pass that down to my kid too. They offer the best summer camp options and after school program. We are just so lucky to have found a caring and safe group of people to help us out with teaching our kid self defense and life skills. They're known as one of the top, if not the top in my opinion, self defense schools in Florida. My son is in elementary school and came home one day showing me some moves he learned in class and literally knocked me off my feet, slamming me to the ground. It was not my best look, but I am so proud and happy to say that I think he can defend himself in a bad situation and am looking forward to everything else he'll learn at Zen.
