What a dud. You can get on a waitlist, so there's that. "Poached" eggs on eggs benedict were overcooked. Chicken on Cobb salad was dry and hard to saw through and thought I might require the Heimlich maneuver while swallowing. Waitress was nice. Just a complete letdown between the menu trying to be upscale but staff not being able to cook it.
So much good stuff. Nice building, easy parking, nice system to handle the big crowds and solid service. Just needs a bit of work executing everything at once. We went on a busy Sunday morning. It was nice to spend our 30 minute wait in our vehicle. When our table was set, we received a text. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately seated. The menu is great. Lots of the standards but a nice selection of non-traditional breakfast choices and also a number of lunch-forward options. If you are looking for a restaurant devoted to working with local producers, this appears to be your place. I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was very good and came with a nice assortment of garnishes. Our "fancy" coffee drinker said his drink was one of the best he ever had. When our meals arrived they were generally as expected. However, one diner had sausage links that were just warm. My Chefs Biscuit and Gravy had good flavor but the chicken breasts were overcooked and thus pretty dry. The biscuits were thick, dense and not very tasty. I didn't complain because the restaurant was very busy and we didn't have many visits from our server. Our fellow diner, who had the prime rib Benedict, had ate it on a previous visit. He called it a 10 out of 10. Said he would get it on every visit. Overall, great concept and pretty solid execution. Just a little bit of polish and I think it would be a 5 star. Definitely willing to pay it another visit.
I stopped here for breakfast during a recent trip to Wausau. I had their biscuit and gravy breakfast with a cup of coffee. I got there around 7am on a Thursday and was seated immediately by a pleasant server. My food arrived within five or so minutes and I dug right in. The biscuit was very thick and fluffy, not like the denser ones I was used to in the south. This is a good thing! it soaked up the gravy nicely and the hand-breaded chicken breast that topped the biscuit was juicy and complemented the meal nicely. The gravy was a tad salty but not overly so. I was glad I only had the half-order! The coffee was good without being too foo-foo. A great start for my day.
This was a great stop!! It was our first time and we will definitely be back. The building was very nice and clean. The waitresses were very welcoming and had quick service. The food was so yummy. My wife had a latte that was very good. The Wisconsin eggs benedict offered some unique flavors that I would highly recommend. My wife got the heirloom bear omelet that also was very good. Lastly, the bathrooms were super clean and had a very fun Dyson sink.
Bright and clean, breakfast and lunch faire. We loved everything we got! Prompt service. Large restaurant with booths and tables. Near Rib Mountain. Many vegan options! The vegan bowl was quite spicy - you've been warned.
Needed a place to brunch at while on our way south. Found this place which is just off of 51. It had high reviews in Yelp and we found that they are well deserved. From entering the door where several hostesses were ready to seat you, to paying the bill, everything was delightful. Seems everyone is working in sync and service was friendly and fast. The restaurant itself was bright and cheery and made you feel important, like they really wanted to make sure you were happy. We would stop back here in a heartbeat. And would come here often if it was closer to where we lived.
Come here on an empty stomach because the portions are LARGE. I was in the area and needed a place with wifi, power outlets, and breakfast food. Breakfast Bear was nearby so I decided to check it out. The menu is large and varied. I got an omelet and it came with hashbrowns and pancakes. Both were very good, though I had to take the pancakes to-go. Service was quick, which I appreciated.
Love the funky ski bear decor. The food came in huge portions. Very accommodating for gluten free or dairy free options. There is comfortable seating and Friendly service.
Breakfast bear is everything you'd want for a brunch spot. Breakfast cocktails, great selection of food with some very unique specialties. Very cute decor and comfortable atmosphere. Service was spot on as well! I ordered the breakfast potatoes and sweet Dutch pancake, so good! You will not be disappointed!
What a great place! Friendly people, great service and the food was off the chain. Lots of great options on the menu. We'll definitely be back!
Stopped in for breakfast by myself a couple days ago. The restaurant is a little upscale looking from the usual places. I sat at the counter and ordered regular coffee which was very flavorful and a just right taste. They have the capability to make different types of coffee options also. The menu was interesting and had options that were a little different such as an eggs Benedict flight of 3 different offerings. I stuck with the classic and even still they added something on top, I think fresh sprouts which gave it crunch. Hash browns on the side were cooked to crispy perfection. The waitress was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend Breakfast Bear.
we are from California.:.. oh so good... heirloom Honey Omelet was amazing!!! By husband had the Chefs Biscuit and Gravy. Everything was amazing . great portions . Faith our server was great with recommendations .
Came back to this restaurant again & brought my husband. He was pleasantly surprised. He ordered orange juice which was freshly squeezed. This is a gem of a place with excellent quality food at a reasonable cost with great service. Anna was our waitress who did a great job,

I wasn't expecting to find a restaurant that makes almost everything in house or sources it locally in this area. The meal was fantastic and the service is excellent. I wish this establishment was open past 3pm. I'll make sure to stay in the area the next I'm around for business or pleasure. read more

Food was delicious; eggs Benedict flight is a great choice. Service is good considering how busy they are every time I've gone and love the logo wish I could get one of those shirts as some purchasable merchandise! One of my new favorite brunch spots in wausau, comfortable seating and bright surroundings. I love it! read more

Great new local place to get brunch. A variety of food options including both breakfast and lunch items. Enjoy your morning with a wide variety of beverages from tap beer, mimosas, to crafted LaVazza Italian coffee options. You can't go wrong with trying this place out. Oh, and for those who need to work on the go - almost every booth or table has a plug in for your computers, tablets, and phones. read more

OMG! Everything we ordered was homemade and amazing! Salmon Benedict, Heirloom Honey Bear Omelette, Fig and Prosciutto Toast, and the Grizzly Skillet! I was surprised by a Homemade sweet roll for my birthday. Chef John's work and menu creations are top notch. Katelyn was a wonderful waitress. This is worth the stop off of Hwy 51 in Wausau!! read more

Spent time at Breakfast Bear today. We did not enjoy our meal or experience and would not recommend. Tried the Vegan Bowl and was very disappointed. The tofu "eggs" had a very gritty texture and taste. The rest of the food was dry and the only flavor I could discern was the over abundance of hot sauce. I could not eat this dish. Our waitress told us several patrons had been dissatisfied with the dish. We were still charged for the meal Even though it was inedible. One of our group tried the Birria Benedict. The house potatoes were dry and the Benedict was okay but nothing we would try again. A third member asked if the syrup was real maple syrup. He was offered an upgraded organic maple syrup for an additional $3. He received a shot glass amount of syrup. When he told our waitress this was not enough for his waffle , he was informed this would be an additional $3. Also, do not expect to be able to converse. Our waitress was fine but the rest of our experience has not as expected based on other reviews. read more
