This is a very nice private military beach. You can only get on the speech of your part of the military or know someone in the military. I really enjoy the speech because it's very private, very nice, and very clean. Before the COVID-19 you were able to rent very nice rooms on the beach. Since COVID-19 has been around you can a longer rent the rooms. You can still come to the beach and enjoy it which is great because we really liked him in here. Beach: the sand is so nice. The stand is very beautiful here. So is the water, the water is very nice in the sunsets here are absolutely immaculate. I saw lots of military guys and gals barbecuing, starting bonfires. I am really glad our military gift to take advantage of the nice private beach is like this. If you have a chance to check the speech out I highly recommend doing so. He will not be disappointed. Very private, very nice, and simply beautiful sunset. This will be one of our go to beaches in San Diego for a long time.

Covid #13 #THANKYOUTHURSDAY edition. What a great military beach! When I was starting to fall into a little bit of depression from not being able to be in nature and a healthy environment like our San Diego shores, you were a relief for my mind, body and soul. This was the last beach I was allowed to lay on when we were in covid. You provide us , through the beach access, with the means to fight off depression, infection, stress and more. You increase our seratonin, vitamin D levels and more! It's true! https://www.thefactsite.com/beach-health-benefits/ It pays to be family with a US Military. I know you have since stopped allowing sitting or laying, but I hope that others can enjoy this freedom again soon not only at breakers, but across all of our shores. God bless America!!!

With breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Who doesn't or, what's not to love about this place. Access to the beach can only be gained by first gaining access onboard Naval Station North Island. Once on the base. It's about a five to seven minute drive via Rogers Road to make it to the beach. But once there, you'll be glad you made the voyage. Peaceful and for the most part, undisturbed by too many people. Breakers Beach offers fantastic views of: the Pacific Ocean, Point Loma and its lighthouse and Hotel Coronado. Bonus views you'll get are: Military Hilo crews training off the beach and if its your lucky day. The chance to watch one of the several aircraft carriers leaving or coming home from North Island. Besides the fantastic views. Beach amenities include: Fire-pits for those barn fires. Permeant B-B-Q grills on the beach. Covered picnic and Tiki type seats on the beach. The beach is an arms length from the Navy Lodge rooms and, there is a lifeguard station with life guards on duty until sunset (I believe). Breakers Beach is definitely worthy of visit. If you don't have access to North Island Navy Base. I recommend using one of your lifelines to get onboard the installation so you can, check this place out.

We came here for a family reunion picnic. There are cabanas available for rental that are a ways back from the beach/ocean water itself. The beach isn't too crowded since it's accessible only by military and their dependants so that makes it a big plus. The sand on this beach is so soft and whaaaaaaaaaaaa: is that GOLD GLITTER I SEE IN THE SAND? HOW PRETTY! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/Ltn5eGhIS8TaD_cEwQzTfw?select=o4CJbb3J9O8FaR5u_pgt_w#o4CJbb3J9O8FaR5u_pgt_w

Since this beach is not dog friendly, my human parents left me home for this one. No worries though, because between me and you, I don't like the water. So my peoples headed to the beach around 12 pm and rented boards from Island Surf which is also on the island. Coronado is just a rich and beautiful place full of activity. You have to go through the main gates on the weekend, because gates 2 & 5 are closed. Easy drive up to the parking lot to find a spot, and a small walk through the dense hot sand to get a spot. There were a lot of people out there but since its military only , it wasn't crowded. So much space that you have groups bbqing and pitching tents without invading others space. You can see the divided fence that separate the public and military beach, and boy was it overcrowded on the public. It's Cali, so of course the water is cold. Waves were great for beginner surfers and boogy boarders. The beach does have small baby stingy rays, so make sure you shuffle your feet instead you walking through the water as it get late in the day (4:30) were tides get higher and start to push them inland more

It's a nice military only beach. We enjoyed a quiet beach day when we went, which is a far cry from our usual beach days in PB. I did not like how far through the sand you have to walk to get to the water. I prefer much shorter stretches. Did find loads of great shells and sand dollars at this beach. Way more than I have found anywhere else. If you're military and want a quiet beach, this is the place for you. The women's bathroom was gross. They really need an actual changing area, not just the nasty toilet area.

What more can you say, easy parking, clean beach, military community, and outdoor showers. Public bathroom offers fairly easy place to change clothes. Being on a military installation made me very comfortable leaving our things on the beach. Would definitely come back here if I return to vacation in SD again.

    Beautiful high tide!

Went yesterday for the first time. Clean, quiet and great weather. Great waves and friendly people! It's nice being on a private military beach. The facilities have showers, bathrooms, a volleyball net, bonfire pit and even a little event gazebo for weddings, I assume. Plus, you get to see some navy jets off in the distance which is kinda cool!

I love the privacy and the cleanliness. I think there should be a life guard here but hey can't be perfect just watch your little ones.

What cabana is the best for rental?

Can I set up a tent for shade here?

    Yes

Can i visit this beach even if im not in the navy or military?

Yes, if you have a military friend or family member, they can take you on base.

I've heard that the stingrays are crazy here. Anyone had any problems with being stung?

Sting rays are everywhere at all beaches in the San Diego County due to the way the beach is a long, gradual slope. The rays take advantage of the shallow water to warm themselves and also to avoid sharks (who eat them). It's the same story at… Read more

It's so far down the coast you can actually spot the lights of Tijuana on your way in. While the trip didn't last long (the weather wasn't very kind) this campsite was impressive. They have access to clean water, bathrooms, and a direct view of the ocean. I really couldn't ask for more. Important to note: The road to the campsite is shut down around 8pm for security reasons. Once the entry to the road is locked, it's around a mile walk to the site itself. This was walk pretty miserable in pouring rain, so I wouldn't suggest Ubering to bars at night. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend this white sandy beach and site for anyone looking for a quick/easy getaway.

You're literally on the beach so we loved that with the view . Staff here needs work.. we were surprised by how rude and dismissive she was. When we arrived she said were too early ( we were THREE minutes early ). I said isn't it almost time ? She snapped at me with "ya well there nobody here to check you in so either wait in line or go park over there" and then walked away . So if you're coming here , just know you'll have to wait in line until the EXACT time. I've been camping since I was a baby and I've never experienced such strict regulations . Other than that , spaces are small so I wouldn't recommend a large trailer . But it was great for three days !

The views and trails are spectacular. Portions of the trail can be steep with large steps, take your time while you're trekking along. You will need to visit during low tide if you will explore the actual tide pools rather than traveling on the trails. Tide pools are best accessed from the 1st / main parking lot. I opted to park at the farther north parking lot and explore the trails heading south. If you review the map you can see the first parking lot with restrooms marked, then if you take the fork to the right, there are 2 more smaller parking lots. The walk from the farther north parking lots, to the mail parking lot is a distance so best to decide before you get there if you need to use the restroom. The entrance road is Cabrillo Road, and it makes a sharp turn towards the farther parking lots. To get to the Point Loma Tide Pools and the trails you are entering the Cabrillo National Monument and there is a fee for admission; I opted to purchase an annual pass for a small amount more than the daily fee. There are several different National Park Passes; if you like to visit many, consider the America the Beautiful pass and you can save a lot. I do recommend the Point Loma Tide Pools and trails, you can visit the Tide Pools and Cabrillo National Monument with your 1 admission price and there are so many things to see. Use caution and review the signage at the tide pools/trails, keep kids close and don't stand at the edge for photos and turn your back to the ocean. You'll be able to set up a great shot even if you're not near the edge. There are plenty of plants and squirrels around, remember you're in a National Park so nothing should be disturbed while you're there. Keep it nice for years to come. Add this to your places to see when you are in San Diego. Even has a local, I hadn't been here (that I can remember) and I've been back a few times since my first visit in March 2025. fthathteoi ncntehthe ht ajdhtgthae ihatie hait he inghggti nadh

The information is available online. I believe the tide pools are closed during high tide and for very good reason. 2. The tide pools are located within the Cabrillo National Monument park which means you will have to pay to visit them. This isn't like going to the beach for free. We paid $20 and you can visit both the tide pools and the monument/lighthouse, if you like. 3. Yes, parking is tough but the lot is fairly large and the spots turn over regularly. Apparently, there are two lots. I completely ignored the "LOT FULL" sign and found an open spot in seconds. 4. Wear shoes appropriate for climbing on and over rocks. This isn't like going to the beach and dipping your tootsies in the water. If you have decent balance, even better. You don't want to fall on these rocks. This ain't "a day at the beach." This is straggling over rocks to find sea life in tide pools. This is a spectacular location for tide pooling. You will probably see crabs, including lots of hermit crabs, anemones, small fish, and maybe even medium-sized fish. We even saw an absolutely enormous sea hare (or sea slug). It was black as night and easily half the size of a small cat. We also saw a brittle star, which is a type of small, squiggly star fish. You could spend an hour to two hours here and this is a must-do attraction if you live in San Diego or are visiting. You cannot find this kind of tide pooling just anywhere.

I heard a good spot was near the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club near The Marine Room and this turned out to be true! Took my snorkel gear and saw a ton of leopard sharks and stingrays so close to the beach! There was plenty of people around and lots of groups trying to catch a glimpse of the leopard sharks as well. The beach had a ton of people but it was very safe. There was a long wall where people were leaving some belongings while they were in the water so I also left my towel, shoes, etc there and I had no issues with my stuff even though I was by myself so I didn't have anyone to watch it. I also lucked out and got a parking spot right in front of the beach even though cars were circling quite a bit to find spots. I actually was going straight from the beach to the airport so I had my suitcase and all my belongings in the trunk of my car and it was safe while I was at the beach all day (a miracle for someone coming from the Bay Area LOL). The beach also had lots of rinse of stations so I was able to rinse off, get dry, change, and head to the airport!

Now in my 50s, I go less now -- maybe once a year, but on a recent visit we enjoyed a nice long walk from end-to-end and back and were lucky enough to catch some spectacular marine life in the tide pools near the pier. LOTS TO EXPLORE On one end of the beach, you will find the Marine Room restaurant and La Jolla Beach and Tennis club, along with mansions on the cliff edge, while kayakers from nearby tour and rental shops get safety briefings and enter the water. At the other end, you'll find Scripps Pier, Scripps Institute of Oceanography and if you're there at the right time, numerous tide pools with bright orange starfish and sea anemone. In between, you'll find grassy Kellogg Park, a tot lot, showers and restrooms, sinks and hand dryers. LOCALS AND TOURISTS The beach is about a mile long and comfortably deep in low tide. It attracts an international crowd, families, couples, surfers, teenagers, lovers, sun-worshipers, surfers, joggers, strollers, you name it. WHAT WOULD MAKE IT 5 STARS? There's a limited parking lot immediately adjacent to the beachfront, but I usually have to find parking on the street, not an easy task in peak season. As with all beaches in San Diego, it lacks vendors along the beach, so if you need a shop or get hungry or thirsty, either bring your own or seek out one of the clothing stores, restaurants or cafes along nearby Avenida de la Playa. La Jolla Shores is one of San Diego's nicest beaches in my opinion. Helpful?
