The hands-on experience was communal, which helped to break the ice between participants. We each ended up with a few delicious treats to enjoy or bring home for later. I recommend Foodstory if want to explore Japanese food and want something fun to do with family or friends.

Be there a bit earlier as you wanna get free street parking instead of the paid parking $5 an hour next to the building. The class is on 4th floor. Aprons provided at the entrance. Two people share one cutting board. Yoko provided detailed instructions from start to finish including little Japanese culture stories here and there. Everyone gets a chance to cut fish sushi style. Be sure to wash your hands before touching the fish as everyone's eating the fish that multiple people are touching and cutting. Final products were so yummy. Def a bit different from the sushi you get at restaurants. Def a great date night if you enjoy learning about Japanese culture and food.

They explained the why behind each technique, which made the whole experience feel empowering instead of intimidating. I walked out feeling inspired and excited to try more plant-based dishes at home. If you're looking for a class that's approachable, delicious, and actually teaches you skills you'll use, Radical Cooks is the place. Highly recommend! I'm not even vegan/vegetarian and I loved it!!

On arrival the parking is on the surrounding streets and since it was the weekend I found parking easily but I can imagine it's harder during a weekday. The building has a large sign so you know which door to go into for The King's Roost. I am still an amateur at making sourdough with my regular sourdough starter and when I saw this offered through Renaissance club who signed me up I was excited to learn what I'm doing wrong. Well, this class didn't teach me about how to make my current breads better, but instead taught me about the world of wheat that I've never really understood and how to make a good wheat bread which actually seems easier to do than my regular starter bread. If you take the class you'll understand the whole gluten thing and reason for needing to knead more with one versus only gentle folds with the other! I follow a girl on Instagram who used a countertop mill to mill einkorn and I always thought that's too much work and I didn't think it's something I could do. In this class I got to see the countertop mills first hand and how easy they are to use, I got to see the differences between the white or red grains and I got to taste the different bread examples fresh out of the oven! Not only that, but we were all given a portion of wheat starter to take home! I am really excited about this because as I'm getting older, proper nutrition without added chemicals and additives is becoming more important to me. Right now the dough we made in class is sitting in a bowl rising and I am just so excited to put it in the oven later and see how my very first wheat bread will come out! I'm also converted and probably will be getting my own countertop mill soon!

As soon as I agreed to spend some time with Bekah in the kitchen, I instantly felt anxiety and a bit of panic. How hard was it going to be? And more importantly, how would everything taste? However, the moment I walked into the kitchen my worries went away, as I could tell I was in good hands. The music playing in the background was soothing and appropriate for the theme of the meal (Italian), the kitchen was spotless, and we were ready to go! We whipped up a vegan bruschetta as an appetizer, handmade pasta (cacio de pepe) as the main meal, followed by a chocolate mousse for dessert. I said "whipped up," because that's exactly how it happened! Bekah provided demonstrations along the way with helpful tips and pointers. Seriously, you can ask her anything! Her knowledge extends far beyond the recipe at hand- cooking utensils, substitutable ingredients, etc., no question is off limits! I left Bekah's having not only had a fun time in the kitchen, but with a serious confidence boost for my potential in the world of vegan creations in my own home! Bekah, keep spreading the vegan love. Hope to see you in the kitchen very soon!

You wouldn't have known if any of the guests were strangers beforehand or longtime best friends, Rebekah treated us all with the same kindness. Marlene was a delight, really funny and fun to be around, and she taught us a lot of fun, easy things to make! We chose her sushi menu, and that included veggie spring rolls with a dipping sauce, edamame, miso soup (so yummy! I want to make more RIGHT NOW!), a ton of different rolls and nigiri (with albacore, salmon and ahi, I believe), diablo sauce (the guys had fun trying to out spice each other), and a really, really delicious sake-based sangria. Everything we made was really yummy, all the ingredients were fresh, and Marlene made every really easy and fun. Also, it was very unexpected, but Marlene even washed the serving plates and glasses we had used during the class! I totally did not expect that, but was very appreciative that she went that extra mile to try to make everything (even the clean up) easier for us. It's that kind of service and attention to detail that makes me want to be a repeat customer. If the five of us had gone out for sushi and drinks, I guarantee that we would have spent a heck of a lot more, and not had as much fun or learned anything. Maiden Kitchen cooking parties are SO much fun, and I can't wait until I have an excuse to have Marlene back again and to try a different menu (she has so many awesome menus to try!). Thanks again SO much for a fantastic experience! I hope my friend can use your company for her bridal shower :)

I was pleasantly surprised with what Maiden Kitchen had to offer! First, Maiden Kitchen is so affordable. We were able to have an alcoholic beverage (phenomenal Sangria), an app, entree, and dessert! Ordering all that at a restaurant is just not in my budget right now. Maiden Kitchen was such a fun alternative. The food was delicious! I am not one you will find in the kitchen but under the supervision of Marlene (our Maiden Kitchen chef), everything turned out amazing! We made hummus, pita bread, salad and salad dressing, rice, chicken, baklava. The best part was that we were each provided with the menu, ingredients, and recipe so that we could recreate the meal on our own! Marlene has such great energy that only added to the fun my group of friends was already having. She did not hesitate to jump in or answer a question anytime one of us shouted her name. It was really a pleasure working with her. Oh, and the best part....Maiden Kitchen brought everything we needed and used to my house! Marlene brought all the ingredients, cooking bowls, etc, and dishes! Clean up was a piece of cake!!!! I would highly recommend Maiden Kitchen to others. I am in a wedding this spring and I am trying to talk the girls into doing a Maiden Kitchen event for the bridal shower or as part of the bachelorette! FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!
