This was a complete surpise stop. We'd gotten off our cruise and were looking for a place to nosh. We saw the bakery was open, and with the next day being thanksgiving, fresh nread would be a nice treat. I got up to the door, they asked if I had pre-ordered, and I had not, but they had extra and were happy to fill my order. OMG. Walked into the shop today for the first time and from the moment you walk in you know you're going to have a great experience! I could sit inside that Bakery all day and just smell the beautiful aroma they have specials every day and today I got their specials cranberry walnut and black pepper parmesan. Absolutely yes, I drove by and the sign caught my eye. I decided to come by on the weekend and what a great decision that was. First thing that greeted me was the scent of fresh bread. The store front is incredibly honest and unassuming, I love it. You see the entire bakery floor, with all the daily breads on display. I picked out the Calabrian and the Mocha rolls, both were incredible. Customer service was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. Nice real bread bakery. The sourdough loaf was excellent. We also got the weekend soft pretzels which were very good but somehow not quite what one might expect for soft pretzels such as from NY City or Philadelphia. I live in NYC and can never find good bread in Florida. I read good reviews about about BBJ in WPB so I drove from Delray Beach to find some Sourdough bread. I bought two baguettes and sesame bagels. The woman who served me said there was some yeast in the bread. When I carried the bag out it was very heavy which is unusual for a baguette. I broke off an end as soon as I got in my car and was very disappointed. The dough was so dense I threw away the inside and only ate the crust. When I got home the and cut a piece the dough peeled off like silly putty. That's why it was so heavy. I have ended my search since this is what people think is good. read more

This bread was amazing! My mother recommended it because it's the only bread that she tolerates. She usually has trouble with bread, but all the bread here is sourdough. The shop is small and there is a good menu and selection. We had some chocolate rolls that were incredible as well as a fione that was just fantastic (it was a fat baguette). Bread by Johnny has featured some of the best sourdough that I have ever had. The cozy atmosphere of the bakery and the kind owner/staff always makes for a great experience. I remember one day I came in but they did not have the fig and walnut sourdough (my favorite). But, Johnny graciously added a mini loaf that he made of that flavor. I was SO relieved to find Bread By Johnny still intact in Jupiter. I pulled up directly in front of his store and could see a sign on the door saying something about only 1 person or group allowed inside at a time. Cool! Especially considering the customer space inside is pretty small. The person who helped me (Johnny? Not sure!) was very friendly, talkative and upbeat. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. I selected the chile cheese loaf and the fig walnut loaf. Truthfully, I didn't know the price until I found it on my credit card bill later on. I did think the prices are slightly high. The chile cheese loaf was perfection to me. The cheese part was very, very mild/faint, but the chile part was the star. Just enough to burn my tongue but not enough to stop me from snacking on it. Unfortunately I could not share this with my kids due to the spice level. It was so tasty and addictive to just eat on its own. The fig walnut should have been superb; it sounds like a great combo, right? But the figs were left in whole or halved, which made for a beautiful picture but did not adequately spread out sweetness throughout the loaf. For some reason, the bread in between the walnuts and fig tasted almost bitter. Very unappealing; we could not finish it. Still love this store and will be back to try more loaves another day. I must say the loaves are beautiful, regardless of the taste! read more

all of Johnnys breads are delicious and last so long - especially in the freezer - I forgot about a loaf of raisin bread in freezer I had for 3 months and after defrosting in frig and toasting it was absolutely delicious - still tasty -easy to slice, and tasted delicious just like I picked up yesterday and just put in toaster - crispy on outside and tender and tasteful just like I had purchased it yesterday. the only problem with Johnnys breads they're all so delicious you just can't walk out of bakery with just one loaf!!! read more

Yes, Bread by Johnny is in one of Jupiter's many BLAH strip malls, which as I drive up evokes a momentary twinge to my heart that makes me miss our old home in Downtown Delray. But that moment quickly passes as I walk into Johnny's in my wrinkled sweatpants and the local vibe sets in. Johnny and his team always give me a big hello along with a smile and I say to myself, yep I do love Jupiter! Despite being a frequent patron, I never remember the names of the breads, but this doesn't annoy me that I don't, as they are always happy to take me through what's there and how it can be prepared. OK, enough of my rambling, let's talk about the bread! Johnny's baking skills are absolutely the real deal and excuse my lack of technical depth in describing it, it's just so freaking good! The right balance of crispy crust and soft inside combined with the sourdough taste is just perfection. I still haven't decided on sliced v. unsliced, but I have an unproven theory that unsliced lasts longer. From the fruity, nutty loaves to the sandwich breads to the rolled and baguettes - love them all! My only complaint is Johnny hasn't brought back this pumpkin hazelnut loaf. Homemade bread!!! Nothing else left to say... this is definitely a treat! Upon arrival we were greeted by Lisa, Johnny's all so pleasant, vibrant and cute mom! The venue is a basic bread shop, rakes of freshly baked did I say homemade breads in a variety of flavors. I got a loaf filled with chocolate and dark cherries which was a hard choice between the coffee infused loaf with everything bagel taste!! The loafs are served whole and ranged from $6-11 dollars, not bad if you ask me!!! I know it seems like a lot of bread but don't worry Lisa will explain how to keep the bread fresh longer! Ohh and duh! the bread taste delicious and freshly made! I would definitely return to support this family own business with such a unique vibe! Can't wait to have my toasted loaf with a hot cup of coffee! It would be nice if they offered samples... or maybe they were out; I was there fairly late in the afternoon. Hehehe!!! read more

Went to the green market at west palm beach this morning and bread by Johnny had a booth! I have been interested in trying out this place for a while now! I picked up a loaf of the olive bread. Like other have said it's dense, more like a sourdough bread (which I love!). Crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside! It contained lots of olives and had a wonderful flavor to it. Amazing bread! A little pricey, we paid $15 for a baguette and a loaf of olive bread but the bread itself was insanely delicious, especially when dipped in olive oil. Most of their breads they will use their own sourdough starter on and everything we ate tasted like it was fresh out of the oven. Will definitely be back to purchase more bread! read more

Fantastic bread in Palm Beach County. I lived in Silicon Valley for 30+ years and am totally spoiled by the phenomenal bread available there. Bread by Johnny not *quite* as good as the best I had there, but it would rank fairly high even there. I'm a bread fanatic, so finding this place was a *huge* deal to me. Best bread for purchase I've found in South Florida (though I've yet to try the once/weekly from Sullivan Street Bakery). Almost all the breads are great. The country loaf, olive, rye, the pretzel, the focaccia. The baguette decent but not great. Not a fan of the bagels. My only real complaint is that all too often they run out of things (especially the country loaf) before noon. read more

I have to say I traveled really far to get their olive bread. I tried an olive bread once at the WPB Green market and the bakery that made that was not open the day I was looking and found these reviews so decided to take a drive up here. I was super happy they had the olive bread and their bread had green and black olives in it. The loaf was a pretty decent size round loaf and I asked if she could slice it and she said they did not have a bread slicer there, which I thought was odd. The bread was so dense it was hard to rip it. Since I had almost a 40 minute ride home I wanted to rip / tear and eat but it was very hard to do. I will go back and try again based on their reviews and perhaps try a different bread but it was just way to dense for me. read more
