Well I got to the office about 11:30 this morning, finished up and out the door by 12:45. You can book an appointment on line so your wait may not be that long. When you get there you log into and make a selection of either sitting there or requesting a text when it is your turn. I opted for the text message but still sat in the waiting room. There are about 15 chairs and they are always full. You can wait out side on the picnic table. Mine probable took longer being I was a New Resident and changing over a lot of items. They have one window dedicated to dealers so they can come in and be out sooner. Most people I saw were doing renewals and some other issues. Debra helped me out in getting both of my vehicles registered and my Disabled Veteran's plates. She was very professional and courteous, great conversation as we moved along in the process. She is a true and real asset to this office. All of the other ladies in all of their transaction were very professional in their dealing with the public. I did not see anyone leaving the office angry or frustrated. Keep up the great work you and a true asset to the city and county.

I needed a temporary license with my photo on it to rent a car. At first I was given the copy of my…read morepermit-- however, I can't rent a car with that. So I explained that my license had been upgraded in July and I needed to have a copy of *that* with my photo on it so I could still rent a car. At first I was told they couldn't because DPS had started remaking my ID since earlier that morning (I requested that DPS resend my license to the updated address). So for a second it was looking like I couldn't get a copy of my updated license nor could I buy a new one since your account locks when you get an ID remade. However, the guy who was helping me, Maximillian (I hope that's his name, I'm always renaming people), and his supervisor worked their magic and called up the headquarters and got the lock removed so I could buy a new license. I do wish I could have gotten it without pulling out my wallet but I'm just so happy I got what I wanted, that I don't even mind! Excellent customer service even though they might've been a little stressed out because I was *not* letting the issue go. I would have accepted defeat in peace if their efforts were in vain but they prevailed! I made sure to thank him multiple times but I felt like he deserved to be recognized here as well.

Maybe this is an anomaly but I had a very good experience here renewing my driver's license…read more I was able to secure a 9 AM appointment using the online App. I arrived at 840 AM and was greeted by the DPS greeter (LOL) he assisted me in checking in and I was directed to another DPS Rep who guided me to an unoccupied station. I was again greeted by a very pleasant woman who swiftly moved me through the renewal process. We had a pleasant conversation regarding my new picture and my 23 years of living in TX as opposed to Mass. I walked out at 9 AM at exactly my appointment time! Winner winner chicken dinner! This locale has plenty of parking and many DPS folks to assist. Pro tip: Make sure you bring all the required paperwork or you will be SOOLuck and have to reschedule.

I definitely wish it was zero stars…read more I am a deaf trainee for a school bus and my trainer was with me when we checked in. I was prepared for the road test for CDL class b. My number was called and as my trainer and I sat down at a desk, we experienced a rude attitude from an employee named James, even he is the examiner for the road test, he claimed that we were late and we were supposed to be on time. But my trainer defended that we already checked in and filled out the forms. Minutes later, he learned that I am deaf, he obviously determined that I should have an interpreter and he can't proceed. We watched him walking away from the desk and spoke with his super. It seemed like the super told him firmly that he should proceed regardless. After he/the other employee proceeded the forms in the computer, as I was walking out of the building with James to proceed the road test, the trainer overheard him mumbling to himself, "I don't know if he will pass the test without an interpreter." I am capable to take the test without requiring an interpreter because I had studied the handbook for many weeks and I was prepared to explain everything on the whiteboard. Certain employees definitely need to be re-trained to interact with deaf applicants and keep an open mind while doing their job!

Visiting DPS to renew my driver license was painless. I was able to check in advance on my phone,…read moregetting a place in line, bypassing the reception desk. All I had to do was head to the forms on the wall and select the one that applied to me (there were three to choose from and the options were very clear). Clipboards for filling out the forms were plenty at the reception desk. Additionally, the form was very straightforward. There are plenty of seats in the waiting area and clear signs tracking customer numbers for service. The DPS counters for customer service are hidden from the waiting area with temporary walls, providing customer privacy. That said, there are clear signs posted indicating the number of each employee's counter to help customers go to the right person. Customer numbers are clearly announced when it is their turn. The employee who assisted me was amiable and efficient. He appreciated that I was prepared with appropriate documentation and a completely filled out form. Taking my new driver license photo was easy; however, there was only once chance for it, so I had to accept the one that came thru. But it's not meant to be a glamour shot, so no reason to complain! Paying happens with the employee, and that was super easy. Overall, this is a great location to renew driver licenses!
