Great library! The natural light is so so wonderful. There is ample tables and chairs anytime we come. The kids section is unmatched.

In addition to a 25-minute video production about the life of President George H.W. Bush (during which I shed a tear), there are more artifacts here than you can shake a stick at. The guides are quite friendly and knowledgeable, and they are prepared to answer questions. During my visit, there were several original artifacts on display, including FDR's speech on Dec. 8, 1941, and Elvis Presley's original enlistment documents. But those are traveling exhibits. There is plenty of Bush family memoriblia to quench your thirst for some up-close history.

I was in College Station over the weekend for a Texas A&M Class of 1980 Reunion, and part of the agenda was paying this place a visit. The George H. W. Bush Presidential Library complex, located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, includes the Presidential Library and Museum, the Bush School of Government and Public Service, and the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center. My visit included the main Museum, a separate building holding the very cool Union Pacific 4141 Engine and the Marine One Helicopter, and the graves of President Bush, his Wife Barbara, and their Daughter Robin. The later involves a pretty walk around a scenic pond (and rose garden area) and onwards to a gated plot within a quiet woodsy area. If Gayle is reading this, of course I also took a look through the gift shop at the end of my visit. I found the main museum to be nicely curated, in chronological order, and with lots of interesting things to learn and remember. I found that I needed at least a couple passes through to help layer my visit. Of particular note (besides the 4141 and Marine One) were exhibits noting the fall of the Berlin Wall, Camp David, the family boat (Fidelity), and the car that the Bush family drove out to Texas for the first time. There was also a special (and worth visiting) exhibit when I was there Music America: Iconic Objects From America's Music History. Also, please don't miss the 22 minute orientation video when you first start in. I found that it really helped set the stage for what was to come at this museum.

Need help? The library staff is here for you! This library…read moreseems like it has overgrown its original spot, and now also includes the building next door, the Library Annex. There's a 'sky bridge' that connects the two libraries. There's not enough signage here! Looking for a book? This library doesn't follow the Dewey Decimal System like most other libraries. They have some collegiate model that I can't understand, and there's not any signs that just say, "Anthropology is here." But if you have a question, there are plenty of librarians on the bottom level. On any of the other floors? Tough luck. Other libraries have numbers you can text a librarian at to ask for help, but I didn't see that. There's not much public art here. The walls are plain and boring. The aisles aren't large enough to get a wheelchair down. There aren't many private study places. I was glad to see that they've got some high speed, large scanners here if you need to make some digital copies of the book you're reading, or copy your buddy's notes. I was surprised to see so many children's books at a university library!

The Starbucks locates on the first floor is super convenient to get through a long study sesh but sadly the line is almost always long . I prefer to come study on weekends because it's so peaceful... compared to weekdays where you walk around for 30 minutes before finding a open chair or outlet . There is parking located nearby ( sadly it isn't free) or multiple bus routes ( 8 and 35 for me at park west) take you right by free of charge for students. If you need a late night study sesh and really want to focus , I highly recommend taking a drive to Evans !

What an AMAZING school!…read more This was my first visit and we didn't even go to a football game! Our son is playing a golf tournament on the A&M course and we wanted to check out the campus. Our kids want to go to college here. Couldn't believe how HUGE this campus is! We saw many so bikes and scooters out and about. The campus was BEAUTIFUL and SO CLEAN. Excited to (eventually) go to a football game in one of the largest stadiums in N. America. My husband and I have been talking about how we love the values this school has. We would be proud to have our kiddos go here.

At the time it was the least expensive state university in Texas. I really had no idea how prestigious it was when I applied. I just knew I wanted to be involved with the ocean and study Marine Biology. As time went by, I discovered I'd jumped into the deep end. For example,I took both semesters of organic chemistry during the summer and had never been that challenged. Later to find out that's considered to be the most rigorous Organic Chemistry course in the United States. By the way, I just found out ,that professor recently retired after teaching there 47 years! Sometimes life hands you an opportunity that later proves us humans can stumble into situations good for us. As a young man having no idea what I was getting into,in the final analysis, this school had a tremendous influence on the way I learned, challenged myself, grew and prospered in life. The reason for this review today is,I just read where Texas A&M campus police are discontinuing, arrest on campus, of students possessing less than two ounces of marijuana. Fantastic...time marches on and...it's about time!!!!

Other Presidential libraries are Truman and GEORGE Bush, JR but I didn't care about them too much. I was impressed with his background as WWII pilot ‍, had a daughter that died at age 3, and felt he had a destiny to be something greater. After graduating from Yale, he worked as an oil field equipment salesman for Dresser Industries, CIA director and then got into politics to be the 41st President of United States and was ambassador to China for a few years. Impressive resume I do admit. I actually enjoyed reading and exploring his well laid out artifacts and stuff in chronological order. I normally find these historical things boring. If you like collecting stamps from each Presidential library, don't forget to stamp at the gift store your brochure. Always asked for brochure from the security guard. The greeter at the door didn't inform us about getting a floor plan layout brochure, so we just went to where we bought tickets and that guy told us to catch the video first and then head in inside to library to explore and pass by the Presidential car to start your self tour. The docent inside was nice enough to take our photos for us so no more bad selfies. lol He also had a wealth or information to explain things to us at the recreation of Oval Office where you can pose and take more photos! This is a far drive which is why there are not many reviews for this good library. There are two big slabs of the Berlin Wall, one inside Musuem and one outside with the horses statues which is well done. I grew up where the Berlin Wall came crashing down. That was important point of history! There was a small section for Forst lady, Barbara Bush related to books and reading. Outdoors was a lake, her garden and cemetery where The President, First Lady and their daughter, Robin was diagnosed with advanced leukemia are buried surrounded by a gate to protect them.
