Unexpected atmosphere - a massage chair to a wall so I had to twist to one side to get my nails done. I told owner I have chronic back pain and she said they'd move the chair in the future but didn't offer a discount for today. The phone ringing was driving me a little crazy - doesn't look like they have a dedicated receptionist and the manicurist had to go back and forth a bit. There was only one UV machine that I had to put on my lap. Not manicurist's fault, operational feedback for the managers... Jennifer took extra time - cuticles and smoothness are perfect! She's soooo sweet and patient with my pickiness. I mentioned that one nail felt sticky as I was leaving but she said it hardened. It's been 45 min since I left and I just saw bits of my sweater stuck to the corner of one nail....she is newer and may have made an honest mistake and missed a gel coat in the corner or gel didn't cure..... Regardless, not an experience I'd expect from a $50 gel manicure. I would've still came back for Jenn if it were a slightly different atmosphere. read more

The best mani pedi I've had in New York. Nails done at the usual street nail shop in New York chip within a day or two and the sterility is unclear. Brazilian nails is clean and private- clients are seen one at a time- and they do beautiful work. I went on a beach vacation the next day and the mani pedi lasted over a week. read more

I made an appointment online and Marize was very accommodating when I had to reschedule it. I've never been to her place before but thought I'd try it due to her great Yelp reviews. I wanted to deviate from gel nails to help protect my nail and hoped Yelper were right and brazilian manicure will last longer than regular ones. Her place is very unassuming. It's a room with one salon chair. I was a bit taken a back because I was expecting a normal nail salon layout. It was different, but fine, she used a lap pillow as support for my hands. Marize cleaned my cuticles nicely and I was surprise when she just slapped on the nail color carelessly. The paint was all over my nails and not at all meticulous, but then she came back with a pick and polish remover to carefully shape the color to the nail. It turned out very nice and clean. I'm usually very careless with my hands but today is day 3 and my nails still look meticulous even after all the pulling and pushing of my winter jacket zippers in and out the door these last few days. I think I would still splurge at a regular salon with massage chairs and bubble bath for my toes when I do a pedicure. But for manicures, I will definitely go back to Marize. read more

I was expecting this to be more of nail salon but it's actually a spa. Marize is amazing. She really took her time on me. I got a mani/pedi which took about 2 hours and costs 90$. This is way more then I usually spend on a mani/pedi but the price is justified with the all the time and attention Marize gives you. This is more of a treat myself experience but I will be back! This is by far the best manicure-pedicure I have ever had. The polish was fresh (not acetoned down) and the treatment was fabulous. Marize did such an excellent job. Overall, the experience was very relaxing. Further, I have never had a mani-pedi stay on this long or look so perfect for so long. This lasted over 2 weeks (pedicure 4 plus) and even stayed shiny. You would think I did a gel manicure. I would definitely return again for a Brazilian manicure (as I don't like gel for how it ruins the nail, but I do like the long wearing effects). Let me just say Gigi is very beautiful, hardworking and gives the best pedicures. She's very meticulous in her craft and makes sure that it's the best she can put out. When I came to her the first time, I hit her up on yelp hoping she had anything available that same day and by the grace of God she penciled me in for an appointment that same hour. Like squeezes me in, because as soon as my appointment finished, not a few minutes passed that her next client came in eager to get her service done. I really appreciate that of Gigi. You can tell she's really about her business and hearing her talk about her colleagues so glowingly and support their business (recommending her neighbor for a great Brazilian) it's another thing I can respect. As for the pedicure itself, it didn't seem like an hour passed but it did. I was too comfortable, I truly felt bad and boujee (for those who don't know that's a good thing) She made my toe nails even- more even than any of these regular shops wouldn't even attempt to do *cough*- cut the cuticles, worked on the pinky toe callus I got from some bad shoes way back when. It's like wow I really enjoy myself. It's worth the splurge of $45 because it's like a spa treatment (a price you'd pay for a spa treatment anyway at the regular salons) and the whole experience is (feels) personalized so I'll definitely be seeing her again. I've gotten frustrated so many times paying for a manicure at other places to leave unhappy with the result but Giseli takes her time with you and does not make you feel rushed at all.
