Super friendly staff and great beer. It was great to have some solid salad choices instead of the usual bar food. Ambiance is kind of choose your own adventure. A warehouse kind of feel, but it's ok with me. Sitting at the bar is my first choice to watch the action.

We stayed in Marshall on the last night of our recent western trip and hit up Brau Brothers Brewing for our final meal on the road. Brau Brothers Brewing joins with four other micro-brewery restaurants we visited on the trip in my "solid but average category." The establishment is located in what looks like a defunct big box grocery or hardware store -- it is spacious, sort of industrial looking, but lacks a coherent decor. You can see the brewery portion of the business through large windows. The size of their operation was bigger than I expected -- a true micro-brewery and not just a brew-pub or tap room. The old fire truck converted into the backbar is quaint -- but I've seen it before. What the building lacks in decor was compensated for in friendliness -- let's call it "Minnesota nice." We struck up a conversation with a local couple who said they stop in regularly for a beer. Our server was equally friendly as were others working behind the bar. The beer was pretty good -- I had a Moo Joos oatmeal milk stout -- dark and creamy with the right amount of hops for my taste. I even purchased three "crowlers" (large aluminum can) to take home. For my food I opted for their Cubano sandwich and my companion ordered a bison burger. The Cubano was served on a ciabatta roll with an ample amount of ham and cheese topped with fried pickles (a unique but effective variation). The bread was a bit heavy in proportion to the filling so I ended up setting the top aside and finishing the sandwich open faced style. The order came with fries and a dill pickle wedge on the side. All in all it was a tasty and satisfying meal. I don't know if I'll ever pass through Marshall again -- but if I am I'd surely stop in for a beer and bite to eat.

This brewery has it all in Marshall- a full menu, over 20 taps of house made craft beer, craft sodas for the kids or non-beer drinkers, alcoholic seltzer with flavors you can add, and a game room named the Brau Cave. None of the beers stood out to me, but I love the variety of styles available. I didn't try the food, but I've heard it was good. The Brau Cave (take a right instead of a left upon entry) offers pool, darts, and two golf simulators. A really fun spot. Great for families as well. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Even if the beer isn't anything to write home about, this is a must hit spot.

I moved to Marshall in March 2020. Started visiting Brau Brothers in August 2021. It's always been a hit or miss with the food. But the worst of worse was most recently during a meeting I attended there last week. I ordered chicken syrips and fries. What I received was untouchable very overcooked -- burnt to a ugly dark dark brown -- gagworthy and unedited 4 chicken strips followed up with equally burnt -- some were actually black French fries. Yes I completely complained to the waitress three times. She offered me a FREE BEER which I declined. Yet still had me pay for the gross meal at full price. Two nights ago I returned for the Kitchen Sink pizza. Our waitress was extremely intentive and a lot of fun. Well worth the $20.99 pie. I should have had my entire meal replaced on the original night and not offered free alcohol.

It has been several years since I have been here, but showing up shortly after COVID did not disappoint! When I arrived, the waitress was working to find me a table and assumed I had 100 friends (spoiler alert I don't have that many friends). Anyway. Food was great, beer was better and the playlist? It was pretty much my Spotify favs. White Stripes, Black Keys and all the other classics. Don't miss out. This place fills up fast!

I've driven past this strip mall location many times, and didn't even know what it was. What a great find in Marshall. Great beer, super friendly staff, and a carnivores delight of a menu. I saw some veggie options, too, but opted for the Cubano, which had fried pickles as a great twist. I'll absolutely be back!

The staff were friendly, the beer was good areally liked my meal. I will absolutely stop in next time I am in Marshall Minnesota.

Was this an old Walmart or Kmart or Pamida? Curious what the history of this building is...

I'm on a mission to get to all breweries in Minnesota. This one was a day trip out to Marshall while working my way back to Schell's in New Ulm and Mankato Brewing in...Mankato, and Montgomery Brewing in...guess where? Montgomery. This was a cool place. It is, however, in a building you wouldn't quite expect for a brewery. I've been so used to going into random, isolated warehouse areas to find breweries, but this seems like your heading to your local Kmart. Y'know, when Kmart actually existed. The firetruck inside is what makes this brewery memorable. The food was good, service was okay (I base my brewery service experience by how personable they are, what kind of stories they have, where they got started, but we never got there with any of that stuff). It was pretty dead when we were there (Friday afternoon), but I can imagine this place gets pretty 'hoppin'' on a Friday or Saturday night. Beer? Middle of the road. Their Moo Joos (Oatmeal Milk Stout) is what they're known for but I wasn't super impressed. I also tried their White Cap Crystal Wit and was not all that impressed. I think the problem was that they didn't have my kind of beer on tap-- that being a Double IPA or Imperial Stout over 8% ABV. If they add one of those, I may just drive 3 hours again and enjoy a long day trip.

I will update this review if I ever happen to stop and eat here. This is based solely on a visit while passing through, sampling a few beers and grabbing some merchandise. The staff was super friendly (like everyone else in Minnesota of course). I wasn't aware they were allowed to sample or sell their beer on site. I toured a distillery earlier in the week and they had to charge for samples and couldn't sell their own make. Maybe it's just hard alcohol.....Anywhoooo, we were passing through on a route we just happened to take because of construction and when I realized the big building that said "Brau Bros." on it was the brewery, I knew we had to stop. Anyways, this place is awesome on the inside. Their tap selection is on an old fire truck! I've never seen a taproom as cool as this before. Great selection of beers, I tried the black IPA, a pale ale, and their Belgian wheat. They were all above average. They have some really cool merchandise. Platters, glasses, bottle openers, shirts, polos, hats, you name it. BUT, when I came it was almost entirely picked clean. They only one shirt design they had a large left in. I can wear a large or medium and they had none of either. I hope to stop again once they restock. Definitely worth checking out if you're ever in this very unexciting, otherwise unspecial, town of Marshall.

This is Marshall. I'm impressed. Great beer and a nice food menu. Pho dip sandwich is creative and good. Standard burgers with a twist of local bison. Check it out.

Food is good and the beer is great. If you're looking to spend a bit less money the pizza is great and pairs perfectly with the beer.

The food was not very good, and the wait was very long to get some food. Then they left some bone in my burge.

Bottom Line: A wonderful alternative addition to the usual…read more"meat, potatoes, & gravy" dining found in Litchfield. Menu is imaginative, if rather limited, and very well executed. On our visit, staff was in top form & delightful. Top Line: I hit up the Half Bushel Brewing crew for lunch with a friend one day. Interior is a delightful mix of rustic and traditional decor left from The Glory Days of this building. Seating was comfortable enough and music was low enough not to inhibit conversation. I had a glass of their American Stout. It was roasty toasty on the flavor front so appropriately flavored. The body however was really super light for a stout. It lacked the creamy mouth feel that I look for in stouts. There were also some bitter'ish notes in the flavor profile that rang more toward the IPA side of life, and away from the chocolate & coffee notes commonly found. So the beer was about a three-star affair. If they have their coffee stout on hand next time I stop in, I'll certainly be giving that a try. Our barkeep Stephanie on the other hand was a 10 star, gold standard, bright, energetic, enthusiastic, sparkling personality who lit up the whole place!! An absolutely delightful addition to our dawdling lunch. I had chicken pesto panini sandwich. Taste was diverse & complex. Crunchy outer texture of toasted bread contrasted nicely with sumptuous fillings. Easy candidate for repeat ordering. I sampled the naan & pesto that was beautifully presented. Naan was chewy soft pillowy bites. Pesto had the basil-garlic dance going on, so it was delightful too. If you're in the Litchfield area, stop in and spend some pleasant time with the Half Bushel Brewing crew.
