Brass Lighting Gallery employs people--or trains their employees--to discriminate based on appearance. They won't bother with you unless you have multiple $100 bills taped to your face when you come to their store. Or, even worse, if you're not caucasian, they'll tell you to your face to go shop at the discount place down the street. The man who was working at their store today refused my family member entry to their showroom because they did not appear to fit with their typical clientele. Outrageous. I hope you offer your employees major customer service re-training and maybe diversity/culture sensitivity training. read more

I went into Brass Light Gallery with the objective of buying an expensive chandelier as part of the extensive remodeling my husband and I are doing. The tall male clerk on the floor approached me and said that I must be looking for BBC Lighting, the lower-end store down the street. Two different places to by light fixtures for your home or business are located on Saint Paul, and that's really convenient. This is the high end shop, beautiful custom made interior and exterior lights, with pricing to match the high quality. Their showroom is as beautiful as their lamps, it's worth a visit if you're remodeling, redecorating, or upgrading, but we prepared for the higher cost of higher quality. The more affordable place down the block has cheaper, mass produced lighting, and I think you'll want to take the time to try them both out. By the way, if you do buy something here, you'll make them a...."lamplighter." Hmm, I guess you have to be kind of old to get that. read more

It pains me to write a negative review because I really want to support companies that still manufacture in our beautiful country. I searched high and low for months to look for lighting made in the US. I found them, well, I ordered exterior lights and they were $900. This is not a cheap amount for me but I splurged because they were beautiful and also there are only a VERY small handful of made in US lights. After a few months of installation, I noticed the architectural bronze started showing corrosion. I wrote the company and they blamed me for spraying chemical cleaners on it to strip the finish, which I had not. The lights are outside, hung next to the garage under an awning. I don't have the time/energy to go and climb onto a ladder to spray chemicals on to the lights. They offered to take the lights back to analyze and replaced it for us. However, they are corroded/tarnished again. For the money I spent, I feel the finish should be better protected than such a short amount of time. People should be aware of this before splurging. If you do not live in an environment where it's dry and constant in temperature, then do not buy the exterior lights. I suspect it is from the morning mist that is corroding the finish as the location is not next to the beach/coast. However, the company should be protecting their work with better exterior grade finishes. At this point, I'm out $900 and the lights look awful. They will not last even a year so be aware before you buy. read more

After ordering bathroom sconces online and being very unhappy with the quality, we found Brass Light Gallery. We visited their shop in Milwaukee and they created beautiful sconces that compliment our bathroom faucets and hardware. We also purchased sconces for our master bedroom. They are well made of heavy, solid brass and are absolutely beautiful. We love them! read more

I was so happy with the wonderful customer service and the effort that was made to make sure I selected the right product for my project. These lanterns are exquisite with no detail left off- they are worth every penny and then some. We have received numerous compliments already in the short two weeks we have had them. We used Brasslight Gallery for fixtures in our custom built home. We've been there five years now they look as great today as when first installed. They also restored a fixture for us that had been salvaged from an old post office. We get compliments all the time. Brasslight is not cheap. But you get full value for what you pay. read more

We spent thousands of dollars at Brass Light when we moved into our home in Evanston, IL in 2007. The owner delivered the fixtures himself and shared stories of the pieces he had personally acquired. It was a great experience. We are now working with a decorator and changing the look of our living room. I made the mistake of taking a pair of sconces back to Brass Light to see if I could barter/sell them back since they no longer work with the room. Our decorator chose to work with a different vendor on the new sconces. I was treated shabbily by the owner to say the least. He walked away from me and insulted me. I will never go back. read more
