I've never had Brazilian food outside of Brazilian steakhouses, which I'm sure don't even scratch the surface of the cuisine, if at all. So I was excited to finally try some real Brazilian food, especially since the Bay Area seems to have a larger Brazilian population than Sacramento. Brasil Bistro is conveniently located near a BART station, so it was a great place to stop on the way to a concert. Parking was easy, which is always a nice bonus in the Bay, and the vibe inside was nice, though pretty warm... it didn't seem to have much air conditioning. I liked the layout though: you order at the counter and then sit down. There's also a small grocery counter with Brazilian products, which was cool to see. I had to try the picanha, which came in a few variations on the menu. I went with the one that included rice, beans, cassava flour, french fries, and salad, and I also ordered a lime caipirinha. The food and drink came out super fast, and the plate was huge, which to be fair, I would hope for given the prices here. The rice was buttery and oniony, and it paired perfectly with the beans. The salad was basic but fresh, and the fries were kind of out of place on the plate, but I'll never turn them down. I ordered the picanha medium rare; it was cooked more on the rare side, but still good. Picanha is great if you like those fatty cuts of steak, which I do, but I found this one a little underwhelming in texture and flavor. It might've been undersalted or the fat cap wasn't rendered enough, but overall it just didn't have the same flavor punch as the churrasco-style picanhas you get at Brazilian steakhouses, where the fat renders beautifully and bastes the meat. I'm expecting the picanha to be the star of the show, and it was just a little bland. Maybe I had the wrong expectations, but I probably wouldn't order the picanha here again. I did enjoy the cassava flour (forofa, I think it's called) which added a nice crunchy texture when dusted on the meat. The caipirinha was absolutely stellar: perfectly sweet, smooth, refreshing, and simple. I also grabbed a Guaraná soda and some brigadeiros from the grocery counter, both of which were excellent. I mean, who doesn't love Fanta-like soda and chocolate truffles? Overall, it was a cool and authentic experience. The food was solid, but it just lacked a bit of wow factor and balance in flavor. Still, I'm glad I tried it and would come back to explore other dishes.

Brazil Bistro is across from Home Depot. Eatery small, just 8ish tables. Pics & decor on walls. Order at counter. Pay. Food brought to table 5ish minutes. Offerings (Brazilian): specials of the day, plates, drinks, groceries. Bites: Feijoada (16) Brazilian black bean stew -like all countries' #1 dish, this is fabulous. Simple formula. Legit comfort food. Stews similar to others. -savory taste from pork loin pieces, Calabresa smoked sausage, onions, black beans, cilantro, olive oils, salt, pepper, coriander. -fluffy white rice to soak up sauce. Fresh Tomato & onion salsa mixed in wherever I thought useful. -sliced greens ate as salad. -fried hard charrones & brownish powders mixed with stew. Orange section a palate cleanser. 4.5stars: worthy! Quality excellent. Quantity: good

Rotten salad was served to me. I complained about and still paying the same price for a food who should be served fresh.

I'm giving 1 star because I can't give 0. I complained about the salad but the woman, said she will tell the people at the kitchen the salad was rotten. But nothing was done to me, just a simple sorry and I still paying the full price.

I saw an ad on Instagram and the food looked so good! I ordered to-go through Yelp and my food was ready for pick up at the time promised. This was my second time having Brazilian food. I used to go to Pedro's in Berkeley, but they closed their locations and I wanted something close to home. The restaurant is pretty small, but it's very cute. There is a nice backdrop you can take pictures in front of. They are very active on Instagram (brasil_bistro) and post their daily specials. I ordered: Picanha acebolada, arroz, feijo, mandioca, banana, salada de maionese, farofa e vinagrete. (Steak with onions and rice, beans, fried cassava and toasted cassava, and plantains/banana, and Mayo salad (tastes like potato salad)) I was unsure of how to eat the toasted cassava, but I think you're supposed to sprinkle it on your rice and beans? That's what I did lol. Everything was delicious! The portions are filling and everything was made fresh! My order was nice and hot when I picked up. I have came back twice since I last ordered and I raged about it to my family members. Would like to come back again and try their other menu items!

Omg SOOOO good!! It succeeded my expectations! It also satisfied all of my cravings! We ordered pineapple juice with mint and a little sugar and it was delicious. We also ordered steak with farofa and Brazilian potato salad. So delicious! I want to go back and try more things.

A nice restaurant near the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station. Always passed by this place driving along San Pablo Avenue. Finally got a chance to check it out. Had their grilled chicken with onions, rice, bean stew, salad, and French fries. The grilled chicken was cooked well. Loved the crisp and flavor. The onions gave the chicken a nice sweetness. The rice paired well with the chicken. The bean stew was a nice addition to the dish. I loved pairing the beans with the rice. The salad was okay. Tasted like any ordinary salad. The fries were okay. Nice and crispy. The service wasn't too bad. The staff was efficient. We got our food in a timely manner. The ambiance was nice. The place has a few seats, but it was cozy enough to dine in. I would like to come here again and try their savory pastries.

This place is so cute and the food is all soooo good! The steak was my favorite!! The girl that helped us was such a sweetheart, excellent service!!

Cute decor & photo wall! Was fun to try to pick out places I recognized.

Feels like you're stepping into a little piece of Brasil. Authentic menu and food, and you can tell by all the Portuguese speaking customers too that the Brazilians approve! I got the chicken with grilled onions plate and it was so filling and satisfying. Prices seem quite reasonable for imported ingredients too! There's even a little corner selling imported market items. Love it! My only complaint is that there was not enough room! It was super packed Saturday lunch rush and there was almost nowhere to sit, and all the tables are really close together. The chairs are also quite tight if you happen to have wider hips/bigger body. Other than that tho-- the ambience was fun-- loved the wall with photos from all over Brasil. Obrigadaaaaa!

I nearly walked away from the door when it buzzed and I poked my head in. There's quite a variety of goods here--more Brazilian groceries and goodies than I've seen anywhere else. The prices looked fair for all the (likely imported) foods. It's clean and small, and street parking could be difficult on busy days.

Yep, every time a new family member starts in the business they see me and start talking to me in Brazilian. They've even taught me some of Brazilian Portuguese which is such a beautiful language- but that's hardly the only reason I go there. they have a little tiny but well stocked grocery store that's a culinary adventure into Brazil. they also have a lot of regular customers for their Cheese Bread and some time of sausage I have yet to try but looks pretty good. Honestly I started going there because they were near one of my then children's Saturday activities and they had ice cream treats that were much more affordable than the local hipster fru fru place. but each time I went back I found something new. Like really good hibiscus tea, or the hollow chocolate easter eggs that I learned are dereguir for gift giving in Brasil. And then of course, there's the community bulletin board, mostly in Portuguese, but also advertising English such things as Brazilian festivals, local Fado concerts and Festa Junina - a very special fun Brazilian holiday that takes place around the summer solstice. It's worth hitting the button and letting them buzz you in. no the store doesn't look like much from inside, but sometimes the best presents are in little packages. Also, the same family runs a tax and insurance business, and if you need to ship stuff to Brazil cheap, they can help with that. Oh and they sell any number of Brazil themed clothing items. Very nice people.

22 Feb 2025. 3.7 stars. 12:56 pm…read more Hello! Make sure you check their hours. Some days they are only open from 11am to 3pm. On our first 20 mile drive to visit, they blocked us at the inside of the unlocked front door at 3:12pm. Street parking can be difficult but a short drive\walk distance about a block away is a $3 an hour parking garage. The place looks clean and not too busy. We sit and our waitress Yanira M was perfect. Very nice, patient and attentive. We three shared two carne asada dinners with rice and refried red beans, two coffees, a coke and three pupusas. $101.36 before tip. The menu was confusing to us. First, the use of the menu words "red refried beans" confused us as refried beans have never been red in our lifetimes and these were pretty standard brown pinto bean looking and tasting. Maybe less confusion if they were called refried red beans. Then, we thought dinners came with pupusas. No. They came with two each thick tortillas (same as half pupusas with no filling as I could tell.) I enjoyed these thick homemade tortillas. The steak was not bad but I wish it had been served with its sizzle in tact. Salsa and coleslaw came as condiments though they might have been introduced with different names by Yanira. The coleslaw was a nice touch-served in a small jar with serving tongs. The salsa was tasting a bit like the V8 vegetable juice that you had as a kid or teen if you are a boomer. This meal could have really used some homemade spice sauce to add some kick to it. The main negatives today were the high music level at the back where we sat. That, and a busser man dragging some screeching and protesting chairs across the floor - to set up for a large party I believe. Real ear busters. The best part of the meal was the piping hot pupusas and our coffee. I would go back for those.
