We have visited Brars since last three decades and this the most disappointing visit ever. Inside is very clean and neat and gives a nice vibe. The service not so much. When placed an order, the server asked if we wanted all food together or as they are prepared. Our request was everything together. First came the Kulcha, five minutes later then paneer, five minutes channa samosa and so on. If weren't asked, we wouldn't have been upset. The Channa Samosa, Paneer, Kulcha and Saag is worthy of the price charged and quantity is too less in our opinion. The quality is the food is perhaps a bit different but other restaurants have similar quality as well. The prices are close to double of what we pay in a full service restaurant as well. The Chole and Saag was under on flavour for a Punjabi restaurant. Very mild and under seasoned. The quantity of Chole and Saag served with Kulcha and Makkai Roti was so less as well. read more

I selected Laccha Paratha, Paneer Tikka, Navratan Korma, Dal Makhni, and Kadhi Pakoda. Every dish was packed with authentic Indian flavors that reminded me of home-cooked meals. My first time eating here in a while. I used to eat here quite often pre covid. I was very disappointed to say the least. I have eaten here many times. I ordered the Thali. Though I waited 15 minutes to have my lunch served it was luke warm. The chana as well as the dal makhani had more sauce than chickpeas or lentils. The cost double than what I previously remember paying. Quite the language barrier as well. Wont be eating here ever again. The service was horrible. read more

The food here is 'hit or miss'. I have been here twice and both the times there was a chaat item that was good and the other item that wasn't. Tikki Chaat was tasty, but Pav Bhaji was vaguely reminiscent of pav bhaji and seemed to lack the taste of cauliflower and capsicum, the two essential ingredients besides potato, which was present in copious amounts. The Indo-Chinese dish Manchurian was tasteless. Ghee fried/dipped Jalebi was okay but didn't have the magic of the sour fermented dough. The place is clean, service staff are great, and dine-in area is spacious. This is all good as long as you don't care much about the food. Hence only two stars. read more

Clean, nice decor, separate dining area from take out. Lots of free parking but only 1 female washroom and 1 male washroom. Hubby and son ordered aloo and mooli parathas. They were huge and devoured by the guys. The only gf vegan item was Poha, but I love this dish so I was happy. One paratha came, by the time hubby was half done my son's paratha came. My Poha came long after they were both finished. There were only 3 tables occupied so that kind of wait is not appreciated. I will chalk it up to being a holiday Monday and maybe they were short staffed? We got samosas to go but could not order at the table. We had to go to the takeout counter (and wait) for that. Got take out from here on Friday evening, went in with high expectations based on great reviews not only on Google but by a couple of acquaintances. Well honest opinion - Extremely expensive for the quantity. The taste and quality given the hype was just good because what I expected was super good. What we ordered: Chana masala - very tasty Mixed vegetables - loaded with mushroom taste was decent slightly on the spicy side when we mentioned medium. Veg Biryani - barely serves 2 for $13.99 though liked the taste. Along with biryani added 2 sides for $4.99 each and it was a shock to see the quantity of mutter paneer and Malai kofta for this price. Definitely both curries were just ok and you can get similar taste in several other places. read more

We went to Brar's Erin Mills with high expectations to experience wholesome vegetarian Indian cuisine but was disappointed by the fare. Brars is a respected restaurant brand but needs to take that reputation seriously. Here are our observations: Pros: - Ambience is good but could've been better (Bollywood music through the overhead speakers is too loud and annoying. Soft instrumental Indian music is always welcome) - Service is quick and efficient (Average 3-4 minutes of waiting time) - The restaurant is clean and spotless. - Servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. Cons: - Food taste is sorely lacking. We ordered Sarson Da Saag but the makkai roti that came with it seemed like the frozen variety that was hastily heated. Even Masala Dosa is nowhere close to the type served in South Indian restaurants such as Saravana Bhavan, Madras Udupi or Aadyar Anand Bhavan (A2B). - Menu needs specialization. Brar's is associated with Punjabi food but it seems like a hotchpotch of North-South food. So, you have Masala Dosa and Pav Bhaji vying for attention with Sarson Da Saag and Amritsari Kulcha. Brar's should stick to what it knows best. - Too expensive. We couldn't see value for money for the kind of food and quantity served. (Masala Dosa is around $17 where as authentic South Indian restaurants serve this at $11-13). On the other hand, Sarson Da Saag (at $15) seems like a rip-off when other Punjab restaurants limit themselves to $8-$10. I do hope that the team takes this feedback seriously. read more
