I've been using Brans Pest Control, and no one else, since I moved into my current apartment 10 years ago. About 8 months into my first year living here, I was gifted with a disgusting, rapidly growing roach problem courtesy of my upstairs neighbours. Let me set up this nightmare fuel for y'all: at about 1AM on a Thursday night, I hear a crash from the room above my bed... And then another... And then a few more. Just when I'm about to set my book aside and roll out to see what's going on, I hear a shrill, muffled "OH MY **CKING GOD THEY'RE IN EVERYTHING" from above. I've been on this planet living amongst nasty twenty-somethings, who never do dishes and don't know what a broom is for, long enough to know EXACTLY what was happening. Sure enough, about 2 minutes later the crashes migrate outside where they are catapolting everything they presumably own out the front door. I spent the rest of my flashing life into the wee dawn hours staring red-eyed at my ceiling, as if the bugs were going to phase through the drywall to rain (or reign) upon my head. The next morning, as I lumbered into my kitchen, I entered my first staring match with the recently displaced occupants of unit 3123B. After months of waiting for adequate response from my landlord - low expectations from the start I assure you- and several failed attempts to negotiate rent or a cease fire out of the colony of refugees making use of my amenities, I just stepped right over that line and went searching for myself. I wanted a local company a) to support local business, b) because I don't trust the service of corporate brands and don't want to deal with their "customer service", and c) don't want to be locked into a contract. I landed on Brans, and from day 1 they were professional, very fairly priced, and guaranteed their work. No lie, it took a few visits and about a month to erradicate the roach problem, which did not surprise me, but they kept on the ball and resolved the issue within my original agreement. I took over property management for the landlord and have been using Brans quarterly for the entire house. They are very honest people, and have worked within my budget. I know. A review for an exterminator hardly makes for a fun read over your morning coffee. But we need more of these kinds of reviews. Hey, I love reading a stellar review for a bar or restaurant as much as the next person, but that ain't gonna get my teeth fixed, my car running or the fleas outta my circus. If not for Jeff C's review of Brans, I I wouldn't have known where to start when looking to combat my ongoing flea problem (since winter, in fact). Plus, I can't really stand seeing even the occasional roach. I do realize these beasties are not an indicator of abject filth here the way they are in NY, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I made an appointment (the receptionist was kind enough to give me a lower rate, despite the size of my place. It's a large apartment!) They came. They laid the foundation for mass insecticide. I was informed that if my flea problem hadn't gone away, they'd come back in two weeks free of charge. Nice, right? I also appreciated that included in the price is a thorough outdoors treatment. They sprayed doorways and windows, bushes etc. It's been about 2.5 weeks and I definitely see an improvement with the fleas. I think with regular treatment I may even be *flea free*!! read more

John from Brans Pest Control is amazing! A rat recently chewed its way into my house, likely escaping from the current (unusual) freezing weather conditions in NOLA. We discovered that it had been hanging out under my dishwasher, gnawing on the drainage tube to create a water source. John spent nearly an hour at my house thoroughly checking inside and outside for potential entry points, setting traps and helping me clean up rat . . . (use your imagination). He explained how rats think/operate and developed a strategy for ridding my house of this nuisance. He also let me know that he would stop by and remove any rats captured by the traps if I gave him a call on his cell phone. I am no longer afraid to walk downstairs into my kitchen. We had 5 roaches in our kitchen over the past week, so I called Brans to do a one-time treatment. John was very friendly and thorough. After talking with him, we decided not to have him spray. (The big roaches had likely been coming in through holes in the drywall, and the spray wouldn't prevent that). We plan to have some light carpentry work done, and call back if that doesn't fix the problem. We appreciate the honestly, and will definitely use Brans if we have pest issues in the future. read more

Exemplary professionalism. I called Brans after a roach crawled across my pillow as I laid down to go to sleep. Yeah, not a pleasant experience. The owner Jack got out to my place soon. They had a glitch with their calendar system which I don't fault them for, it could happen to anyone. Jack was a true professional. Not only did he perform his service well, but he walked me through all the steps he was taking to keep my apartment roach-free. I called Brans with a minor issue and they responded immediately. The owners answered the phone, answered all my questions, and had a tech out to treat my home the next day. The tech called me a few hours early to let me know he'd had an earlier opening in his schedule and was able to take care of my roach problem even earlier than anticipated. He was kind, efficient, professional, and even took great pains to make sure my dog was comfortable with the tools and treatment. The treatment worked immediately. However, two weeks later I noticed a few more roaches and called Brans; they had the same tech out that same day to treat again free of charge. This company is the definition of what a family-owned and -operated business should be; they're courteous, professional, timely, and really know what they're doing. Cale was absolutely our SAVIOR!!!!! Bed bugs are the most disgusting, most invasive pest you can imagine. We were traumatized, but as soon as Cale came he took care of all of our worries. First and foremost, Cale is thorough. He came back 5 times in 4 months to check--and recheck--our situation. He responded to our late-night texts, came by early in the morning to drop off different things we may have needed, and was as invested as we were in making sure bed bugs never return! Cale is also so knowledgable about the biology of beg bugs, which helped us understand what exactly we needed to do and why. Because of this, he's incredibly trustworthy, as his protocol has been developed with scientific methodology. Needless to say, we just finished our final treatment--and the bugs are gone, never to return again! If you're reading this review because you just found out you have bed bugs, stay calm. If you are in the NOLA area and you have any kind of pest issue, Brans is the best company that will always take care of the problem. They are all very helpful and have marvelous customer service. They also have the best prices in town and always show up on time. I first called brans to do a termite inspection on a home I was looking to purchase in Gentilly Woods. Jack, the owner, came out on time and did a very thorough inspection. Showing me where my home was at risk to get termites and the things I could to do to lessen my risk. Then he came back out about a month later after I purchased the home to give me a treatment estimate. Again on time and very thorough, he showed me how we would treat it and the different products he could use. About a month after that he and one of his employees, chris, came out to do the actual treatment. He had quoted me for the generic product, a cheaper product then Termidor. However, because my house had many different slabs and it would be almost impossible to treat all the slabs he wanted to use Termidor to be safe because it was a superior product. Since he quoted me at the generic, Jack kept the price the same and used the Termidor. Which saved me about 100 dollars. After Chris treated the house, two days later I had a swarm hit my house. Not being from this area I freaked out and called Brans the next day. Very helpful again Jack told me he would come back out with a different employee, for another set of eyes and a different perspective, and bring his thermal camera that can spot any termites in the wall out of view. They showed up on time and did another great inspection and reassured me that there were no termites in my home. The thermal camera was an amazing tool that really allowed me to see what was going on in the walls of the house. Then before departing they refilled a spot around my house that eroded and treated it again right then and there. Also I had a red ant hill in my front yard, even though I was only under a termite contract, they placed a chemical on the ant hill for free that killed it by the next day. No ants anywhere around again. Very professional company that will defiantly satisfy whatever pest needs you have and you will not regret choosing them. read more

When I bought my first property in New Orleans the sellers included some info in a "House Manual ". The listing included several numbers of trusted businesses that they had used over the years and Brans pest control happened to be one of them. Out of convenience I dialed them up and the owner, Jack happened to answer and agreed to come out and give an estimate for termite prevention etc. He was very knowledgeable and thorough with the whole process. Their secretary was very persistent and accommodating in scheduling our first appointment and had their guys out to our house within 48 hours. They were very good at helping me understand our issue and what we needed to do to fix it. John is an absolute saint! He came over to spray for roaches and I mentioned that we had seen a mouse but didn't think there was an infestation. He did some investigating and found the source of our problem in about 5 minutes. A big rat had come into our house from outside and died underneath our stove. I'm terrified of rats so I ran out of the room, and John was nice enough to not only dispose of the animal but also clean the area where it was found, sweep the kitchen floor, and use an odor eliminator to make sure he left everything nice and neat. He then set traps outside around our house to make sure no more get in, and this was all before he completed the service that he was there to do. I called them for an inspection for bed bugs, mice, and cockroaches and was pleased to meet Cale, one of their service guys. Cale was extremely knowledgable, compassionate and dedicated. Picked this place because I was looking for a local company with good reviews. I have spoken to and interacted with three people at the company. All very nice. Asked them to come out on short notice to help us with our mice problem. Came out within 48hr, even willing to come out later in the day to accommodate my work schedule. First guy was Jack. Nice, thorough, trustworthy, good sense of humor. Inspected our unit and the one below us (no rodent activity) as well. Didn't charge me then. Said we would address bill at follow up. He couldn't make next visit, but called me to let me know he was sending Cale. Cale was younger and really easy going. Did a thorough repeat check and set out more (stronger, pet safe) bait stations and explained the problem areas and our best options. Still no charge yet. Returned again today to reassess and finally presented me with a very reasonable bill. Plans to return at end of this week to help me plug up problem areas with steel wool and caulk. Can't say enough about this company! Glad I tried them out! Happy to stay local. read more
