It is hard to express how much Brandywine Living at the Gables has meant to my family. My 90 year old father was not there for a long time but the final months of his life were happy because of them. The entire staff was just amazing - so caring and kind and made my father feel like they knew him for years. Maria Carnevale, Director of Admissions, was especially wonderful and went out of her way to work with us no matter what obstacles came up. She treated us like family and made the place truly feel like home. Many of the staff have been there for 10, 15, 20 years or more and that speaks volumes. There is no place like home, but if you need more assistance, Brandywine Gables is a wonderful place to call home. You can be independent living here but since they are an assisted living they are here to assist you when needed. Wonderful community, not only beautiful but they also have a dedicated team! Brandywine Living at the Gables has been a godsend to our family! My 91 year-old father moved in last month after a fall. During a stressful and overwhelming time, everyone there was so helpful and amazing and kind. From the Director of Admissions to the aides, nurses, staff, maintenance men - everyone has been incredible. My dad is doing great and we are so happy he chose Brandyine. Our family is so happy with our experience with The Brandywine at The Gables in Brick, NJ. My Mom recently stayed there for 2 weeks for respite care and she loved it. It's like a beautiful bed and breakfast - a truly wonderful assisted living facility. The facility was spotless and they were constantly cleaning. Brandywine is a wonderful facililty. My mom is there and the staff is very caring and kind. I feel my mom is being well taken care of! With only 50 residents it makes it a more home like place. Our father, Ted Nardolillo, recently passed away after living at Brandywine at the Gables for almost one year. For most of that time he was physically and mentally competent. But for the last three months his physical health deteriorated substantially and became very depressed and forgetful. In the last month he had hospice care and a 24 hour aid provided by others that were able to provide the appropriate care without having to move him into another room let along another facility. I won't bother comment in any detail about the facility's amenities - the food, the activities, the cleanliness of the facility. They were fine and more than adequate I am sure there are other, more expensive facilities that could provide a higher degree of amenities and more creature comforts. But what was critical to our family, who never thought either of our parents would ever live anywhere but in their own home or with one of their children, was the care and attention paid to their emotional and physical needs. Our father was a warm, funny and caring person. For him to be comfortable he needed to be surrounded by people who what type of person he was and treat him with the care and affection deserved of such a lovable person. Brandywine and the other providers they brought in, were that and more. They truly bonded with him and made sure he was cared for. If food or his meds needed to be prepared in a certain way they went out of their way to accommodate. If he was cranky and depressed as his condition worsened they were patient and sensitive. I could give plenty of examples of the large and little things they did to make our family content that under his most difficult days he was being properly cared for. When the time finally arrived and our father passed away many of the aides, nurses and other staff treated him and us like family. In an occupation where failing health and ultimately death is not an uncommon occurrence they seemed truly touched and concerned by his worsening condition and grieved with us when he passed away. They even attended his services and stayed with us well past the "respectful' time we thought others in similar line of work would spend. My family will never forget the loving care and respect they showed my father and his family. When you see that type of treatment by paid professionals who only got to know him during his final months you can't help but feel lucky that we picked the perfect place for him. I am a friend or relative of resident My mother has been a resident of Brandywine for over 9 years and loves it there. The staff are all sincerely caring for the residents which is highly important to me. The nursing staff has been wonderful with the care they have given her. Mom's care needs have increased in the last couple years and they've been great handling her additional requirements. The food is delicious with a wide variety of selections. If you don't want what they're serving you can order something else. The desserts are outstanding. My mother enjoys a number of the many activities they provide at Brandywine which keeps her busy throughout each week. The facility is beautiful inside and outside. The landscaping and summer flowers are gorgeous. The outside porch provides hours of enjoyment watching the fish swimming and wildlife that flies onto the pond by the porch. My mother has made many friends at Brandywine through the years which is wonderful since she was not from this area and did not know anyone. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs assisted living. read more

I applied here for the receptionist position that they had advertised in the newspaper, several months ago. I went in person asap, as the ad said to. It was early evening on a week night when I went there. When I parked my car and proceeded to walk toward the building, there were several employees wearing burgundy uniforms or shirts, outside in the parking lot smoking and talking to someone else in their car who was also smoking. They were using course language and this made me feel uncomfortable and did not give me a good first impression, although the building itself was nice. It also made me wonder if the residents inside were being properly taken care of, if at all, and made me wonder how they got hired and who was in charge. THEN I went inside. I went to the receptionist desk and wanted to ask for an application to fill out, BUT I had to wait...because the receptionist was on the phone, and she was speaking BADLY and very CRUELLY about one of the senior residents that had to be put in an ambulance earlier that day! She was mocking her right in front of me and could care less! She was heartless the way she betrayed this person's privacy! I thought these people were supposed to CARE about seniors! I DO! She gave me an application to fill out and seemed annoyed. Then another co-worker came into the room and sat behind the counter with her and they were gossiping terribly about the same senior, and then they started talking about their boss! All of this I heard while filling out my application for a job. I thought they were extremely unprofessional. Maybe this was why this place was seeking a new receptionist? This needs to be made KNOWN to anyone who has family staying there or is even considering it! I was applying for a position in the dining hall- or what I recall the job title being a food server. I was qualified with good references and really love helping seniors, children, anyone. I really wanted this job! I tried to be professional but I was very skeptical as I gave my application to the one woman who was now left at the desk when I was finished. I was afraid to leave it with her after how I heard them talking, and afraid that my application would never make it to the dining room manager. So, I asked if I could give my application to the manager, but she said NO, I could not. She said that someone would call me if they were interested. Well Brandywine Assisted Living, I am certain that my application was never received by anyone in management and that it was tossed in a trash can that night by those employees! I never heard from anyone and I am not surprised. I KNOW that I would have taken excellent care of the seniors who live there, had I been hired. I also know that I would not recommend that anyone place their loved ones in this establishment if they truly want what's best for them! It's no wonder there is so much elderly abuse going on! I was very sad when I left for these victims and even more disgusted with the employees. read more

If you are looking for a senior living home with compassionate, motivated, friendly and truly loving and caring staff and residents, Brandywine Senior Living at the Gables should be at the top of your list. When you speak to any one of the staff at Brandywine, you get the feeling that they love their jobs and the residents. My Mother and Father began their life at Brandywine as a couple. Unfortunately, after just 3 weeks, my Dad became ill and passed away. We truly believe that visits to the hospital by the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director helped my Father to let go knowing that the love of his life would be well cared for. The compassion and support shown to my Mom, my sister, and I (who both live out of state) by the staff and residents during my Dad's illness, his passing, and the following month while we stayed with my Mom to settle their estate and prepare their home in order to sell it, was above and beyond. From the simplest gestures of a smiling face, warm good morning greeting and much needed hugs to packing lunches for us to take with us as we cleaned out my parents house, and helping us move furniture, the staff was there for us for whatever we needed. We only had to ask for whatever we needed and they were happy to help. Often times we didn't even need to ask, they just seemed to know what we needed and offered their assistance. Today, almost 3 years later, while we are all still grieving the loss of my Dad and miss him terribly, my sister and I are comforted knowing that my Mom, now 93 years old, is finding her way without her husband of 56 years with the help of the staff and other residents at Brandywine. Not only does she have friends and activities to fill her days, we all have the comfort of knowing that should Mom need any type of medical care, a friendly ear or assistance with anything, she has that available to her 24 hours a day. When asked recently by a friend if she would recommend Brandywine, my Mom, without any hesitation responded, "YES!" Brandywine continues to be a true blessing for all of us. read more
