There are some things that are safe to judge a bottle of wine by, that is the year of production…read moreand the country of origin. One thing that you should not judge it by, is the packaging. I was in a rush, to a baby's baptism, I stopped by Harvey's in Bishop's Corner for the pre baptism party which I wanted to bring a bottle of wine to. As I walked inside a gentleman, for all I know he might be Harvey, came to assist me with selecting a wine. He told me about some of the taste profiles, he was very knowledgeable about the products in his store. Then I spotted a Chardonnay called Prayers of Saints. What's more fitting than this for a baptism? I didn't take my own advice, I got it based on the packaging. However, the gentleman did reassure me, this was a good pick. It's light and refreshing. There are also plenty of other liquors, beers and wine options at Harvey's. I would stop by when I need to pick up something for a gathering.

What made this one stand out to me though is that it had exactly what I was looking for. I had been searching for a specific rum all over CT now that not even total wine had (and they have everything) so I was pleasantly surprised when i found it. Even more so by how friendly the guy behind the counter was, he said if there was anything I ever wanted all I had to do was ask and he could get it for me, and that is exactly the type of customer service you can expect at this place. The layout itself is really nice, very well kept and clean, if you need cash theres an atm, and theres a bag policy too so make sure not to bring in a big bag unless you want to leave it at the counter. There's also a website and app for added convenience, and they host events sometimes too. Truly a one stop shop for all your liquor needs, specialty or otherwise.

I've visited Capital Spirits a couple of times since they're pretty much the only liquor store Downtown (jazz fest, Pratt events, etc). Last night I was on Pratt to watch the Yard Goats game and we decided to go inside. The staff was super friendly and helpful, even when there was some indecisive minds in my group. I was able to find some pretty affordable sake, and the cashier even suggested some new and popular wines that they have, which I thought was nice.
