My friend is 28 years old. This is not an expired ID, so she expected that someone was actually dumber than McLovin and decided to get a fake ID with a listed age of 28. 2. My friend closely resembles his ID picture - the cashier admitted that he was the person in the picture. He also does not look under 21 at all. 3. My friend provided a debit card, a credit card, and a current school ID (which clearly said "graduate student" on it) which matched his name (and his face in the case of the student ID). 4. The cashier was clearly unfamiliar with a New Jersey license. When asked what made her think that the ID was fake, she bent it and said that because she could do that it was fake. A lot of states have bendable ID cards, it's pretty shocking that she hadn't encountered one before. She questioned why he didn't have a Connecticut license - as if they only serve CT residents. It's literally a college town! We asked her to call the police to confirm that the ID was valid, which she refused to do. She refused to return the ID as well. In the meantime she had the gall to try to cash out my girlfriend and I, as if this situation wasn't happening, at the same time we were trying to convince her that our friend (who I've known since he was 23 - 5 years ago) was of age. Eventually we were forced to call the police, who over the phone looked up the details and confirmed the license was valid. The cashier returned the card and never apologized. During the whole experience she had a smug look - I genuinely think she thought she had caught a fake ID. When we called the police, she realized that she had been mistaken, but was unwilling to own up to the fact. Overconfidence and incompetence make a poor combination.

The moment I set foot inside, I could tell this place was different from other brew hobby shops. First of all, this guy makes no mistake letting you know he knows how to craft a good brew. The walls are covered in ribbons from competitions that he won. I didn't even bother counting. There must be over 300 of them from all over the country. However, you would never know it from Paul's personality. He was gracious and rather humble considering the amount of success he has had. I explored his shop and just totally "geeked out" over the stuff he has. His prices are very reasonable and he is full of great advice. I don't live in the area but I would make the hour drive to Willimantic anytime I want to upgrade my equipment or get some great brewing advice. Make sure you call ahead because his hours are not always the best but this reason alone is not enough to justify giving this shop any less than 5 stars.

They carry harder to find beer (Dogfish Head 120 min, NEBCo's Gandhi-bot, etc) behind the check-out counter at unreasonably high costs.
