It is one of the first espresso bars in Utrecht combining the possibility of drinking coffee with shopping. Blackbird uses Koffieslab beans which are nice but sometimes have a sour note (don't kill the messenger, it's a personal preference). Apart from coffee Blackbird has a small menu with breakfast, dessert and refreshing drinks options. Baked goodies are made from biological products and are quite ok, but unfortunately very inconsistent and definitely not the best in town. Overall, Blackbird is a nice place for a cup of coffee and definitely a noticeable stop in search for interesting vintage items. The staff is very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The restaurant is in the perfect location from the Fletcher hotel, but I would make the trip regardless of my stay just for the food and inviting environment. The menu offers plenty to choose from, and everything is absolutely delectable. The beers are cold and the wines always pleasant. As the surrounding area develops, I eagerly anticipate them remaining open on the weekends. For now, I enjoy them regularly during the week and Friday nights. Our first visit one of the owners treated us to a sampling platter (pic). The second visit another owner(3 handsome gentlemen btw own her) again made us breakfast (not on the menu) of bread with basted eggs and bacon with hollandaise sauce (incredibly simple, fresh and delicious) pic. I never agreed until I actually went to one as an adult), but we were allowed to go the Linnaeushof, and by our early teens we were riding our bikes 30 minutes to go hang out here. The Linnaeushof has equipment for kids of all ages, ranging from a simple play area for toddlers, to go-karts, an indoor playground, huge slides, a small waterpark, and really cool chairlifts that took you for a ride across the lake, which you could also explore by paddle boat! At the heart of the playground stands a restaurant, though perhaps snackbar would be a better term. Basic french fries, kroketten, etc., and ice cream. Nothing special, but it's perfect for kids parties and long playground days.
