First of all, I USED to go to this location for our car repairs- but no longer. Their mechanics skills have deteriorated by 1000% ( if that is at all possible). Their mechanics skills last straw was the stripped the oil plug on my car , told me it would cost HUNDREDS of dollars to fix and then had the thought to replace the plug THEY damaged with a regular steel bolt. I took it to a mechanic my son found near his house and he fixed their problem and did an oil change for $93. Not the hundreds of dollars this guys wanted to charge me. I took my son's car to Brakes Plus for a brake inspection and was given an estimate for **$884 in repairs**. Wanting a second opinion, we left the shop, but after stopping for gas, the engine immediately started making a loud noise. We returned to Brakes Plus, where they told us the engine had no oil, even though the oil had been changed on **June 19, 2026**. They added oil, told us everything was fine, and sent us on our way. We had it inspected by Driver's Edge, where we were told the vehicle needed a **new engine**. They also found that the brake repairs Brakes Plus recommended were not needed. What made the experience even more disappointing was the lack of professionalism. While Driver's Edge was speaking with Brakes Plus about our vehicle, laughter could be heard in the background. During our visit, we also witnessed another upset customer who said his vehicle had been damaged and was demanding accountability. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this location. I had my brake fluid flushed here and returned 4 days later when my brakes started making a loud grinding noise. Turns out my brake pad was making contact with metal. They didn't check my brakes at all when I was there getting my brake fluid changed. Outrageous and unacceptable for a BRAKE place to not even check my brakes when I come in for a brake related service and instead recommended several other repairs completely unrelated to my brakes (see invoices). The repair ended up costing me $600+ (calipers, rotors and pads) instead of a simple brake pad service. This could have been easily avoided but instead I ended up with a hefty bill. If I could give a minus rating I would. Took my car for rotors and pads in June 2023, they told me I need a lot of front end work to correct my problem, over $3000. Took it back 2 months later got new brakes pads and rotors,,my steering wheel was shaking any time I press my brake pedal. Took it back and was told it front is the problem. My experience today was great. I dropped my car off in the morning and had it back by the end of the day. The prices were reasonable and they even stayed 45 minutes after closing because that's when I was able to come pick it up. They also identified some things that could have been done, but didn't push it on me AT ALL. Driving away the brakes felt great. The only trouble was I was on hold for half an hour when I called to get an update. It was close to the end of the day, so I understand they were quite busy with people coming to get their cars, but it was quite long. Brakes Plus took a job for Discount Tires to replace a lug bolt I broke off because Discount Tires service tech cross threaded it when my most recent set were installed. Brakes Plus had me wait for a couple of hours while they ordered the part but finally installed it. When I got home and started to remove the wheel they just worked on to install brake pads on that side. I couldn't break any of the lug nuts loose without a cheater bar. I got 4 of 5 loose and broke the 5th one off because not only did they torque them down too tight but they cross threaded another lug bolt. They tried to say that I cross-threaded it removing it which was absurd and then when I told them that would be impossible, they then instead claimed that I broke it off turning it the wrong way which did not make any sense either since it was broken off in the middle. Plus the employee insulted my intelligence by accusing me of not knowing that clockwise is tighten. After some heated discussion he agreed to pay for a new one. So I waited another 2-3 hours expecting that their mess-up was taken care of when this rude employee handed me the new lug nut and bolt and told me it would be a $100 to install. I could barely control anger. I went to Discount Tire and showed them what happened and explained what they did so they referred me to another repair shop to have it installed at their expense. I told them how unethical these people they were farming out that work to and that they should never send any more business to them. I am writing this report and reporting them to the BBB. If you read all this, it should be warning enough to make the decision to not deal with these unethical and unscrupulous people. This refers only to the Lewisville, Texas location. read more

Made an online appointment via their website two days ago for 2-2:45 PM today. Called two hours prior to verify the appointment. A very cordial man answered and confirmed the appointment as 2:45 PM, but asked if I could delay my arrival by 30 minutes as they were a little backed up. I said, sure, no problem. Arrived 15 minutes early and the manager (not the guy who earlier took my call) looked at the computer, was surprised by the appointment, and said I could have the car in two hours. I said I had a confirmed appointment and he had the gall to say that they were like a doctor's office, implying that you _always_ wait at doctors' offices and brake shops. So I dislike oil change places, and this is one so I can't see myself giving them 5 stars... That being said, the service was really good, exceptional actually, probably the best I have received in the last few years. It all started yesterday when I pulled in to get an oil change and inspection ... I had about two hours before I had to be somewhere, but I figured what the heck I'll see if they can get me in. The wait was about 2 hours .... um that isn't going to work for me, so I ask if I can make an appointment, and asked how long it would take. Jim indicated it would take about 45 minutes for an oil change and inspection, and assured me that they do in fact open punctually. So I set up the appointment for 8:00. I get there at about 7:45 ... Andrew had already opened the office so I could go in and have some coffee. I confirmed that it would be about 45 minutes after they actually opened at 8. The oil change and inspection get finished, they didn't hassle me about the air filters or any of that fluff to try and get more money out of me. If I could leave less I would. My friend took her vehicle here 2 weeks ago. After 1 hour of her car in their possession, they dropped it from the lift. They call her to inform her of this on a Saturday. They wanted her to wait 2 days before providing a rental. I helped her to get a rental at the airport. Then after 2 weeks, they ask her if she still wants the struts and shocks done, at the first quote. Yet they claim they have gone above and beyond for her.
