went in for new brakes. ended up being told needed new back brake pads. rotors and calipers. approved the work, and they did it. great. got the printout, looked at the second page that showed the pre-inspection info. to my surprise it listed the calipers as OK. I verified that was all pre-inspection info. as soon as I did a woman came out and said she started to update the section with post repair info, but got busy and only updated the one item. VERY SHADY. esp since it was about 3/4 the way down the list, after the pad measurement. and rotor measurements. was told sorry im human. I did fill out the contact them, and got a message the same day, not from the owner or GM, but from the same woman who "changed" the document. I needed a lot done on a 10 year old Escape. This shop was recommended to me by a guy at discount tire, who said they had the most reasonable prices on parts and labor in town. I knew going in I needed pads, rotors, shocks and struts all the way around. After a quick drive around the block and subsequent examination, they called and confirmed all of that, and more. I knew it needed a lot. They gave me a quote at what I felt was a very fair price and didn't try to upsell me on anything. DO NOT GO HERE! Found out that when I had my breaks and rotors needed g replacement 18 months ago one of the pads was installed incorrectly. The rotor was fine but the pad needed to be replaced. Went to brakes plus to get the pads replaced due to not having much time on my hands due to school and work. When I dropped the car off I knew they would charge me for the foreign pads under $300. I dropped my car off then went to study. I got a call from them knowing they would sell me on services the car doesn't need. They said it needed to rotor, it didn't and the service would be 570 . Asked what it would be for the pads with coupon they said 280. I said I'll do the pads. The tone on the rep changed. Became annoyed I didn't fall for their selling me services I didn't need then said the "warranty for the brake pads would be void for not getting the rotor", that it will be ready about an hour after the tech gets off of lunch. The service the one guy gave me, especially after decline services I knew something felt off. About 2 hours later I get the call stating the car was ready went in. They used the cheapest pads they could, this really made me question the work they performed. Talked with a body about the issue and showed them photos I took of the pads needing to be replaced and the rotor. They said rotor was fine and started laughing about the warranty. Then I saw my tire that was completely fine before going in then had issues after them working on the car. Unless you want to pay for parts and services you don't need DO NOT GO HERE. After taking my Chevy Colorado in for an oil leak, I was informed that the oil leak would not only cost almost $1,800 but that my differential was "snapped in half". Being a vehicle I had just purchased from a dealership in town, I had the dealership do an inspection on the differential and come to find out, nothing was wrong with the differential. After confronting Brakes Plus about the issue, they informed me that the differential wasn't actually "snapped in half" like they described to me, but a part inside the differential was broken loose. Once I learned this, I had the dealership inspect the "loose" part in the differential and even after showing me the vehicle, there was no issues. I am disappointed, frustrated, and angry that it seems my business was taken for a ride and they attempted to sell me something that wasn't even an issue. I paid for the oil leak and after this experience, wish I didn't and just went somewhere else. Would not recommend. read more

Brakes plus put me and my children's life in danger. Do not take your car here. I was having problems with my car dying, So I took it into brakes plus and had them check the alternator where they confirmed that the alternator was bad, and needed to be replaced. They charged me $1200 for the parts and labor which I think is a little overpriced. However I came to them because of the good reviews they had. They took my car overnight and I picked it up the next day, and took it straight home. The next morning I was driving my 3 year old daughter and my 1 year old son to daycare, and I live up the Buckhorn Canyon, so I have to take some steep mountain roads to get into town. As I was coming down the hill next to Horsetooth reservoir, my power steering went out and my ABS system went out, as well as my accelerator. I was going 45 mph down a steep grade hill and had no steering or proper braking, and I had to pull like hell to get the car to turn around the switchback on the south shore. Luckily, we didn't go off the side of the steep cliff into the reservoir below, and I was able to coast to a full stop on the side of CR 38 E. I called a tow truck and waited with my kids for 1 hr with no heat, since the car was completely dead at this point. My kids had to ride with no car seat in the cab of the tow truck. When we got to brakes plus the took the car and said they would take a look, and later that day the manager Jacob called me and said they had put a defective alternator in my car and will have to order a new one from Texas, which will take about 3 days. I didn't mind the wait, but I did miss work that day because I had to figure out plans to get my children home safely, and missed out on pay. I called the store to ask if they would be willing to give me a partial refund because of the danger the put me and my children in, and for the time I missed off of work. Another manager Dylan said they are not willing to do anything like that for me because the techs had already been paid, and that he was "willing" to install the good alternator free of charge. I told him that nobody should charge me an additional cost anyway because I've already paid for the first alternator. He told me "well, some of our stores can be vindictive and would charge you extra for this, and I'm willing to do it for free." I called their corporate office and explained my situation, to which a lady named Kanisha told me that she apologized and we should definitely be able to give you a refund for the horror you experienced. She said the regional manager Cody would call me that day and get this sorted out. No call from Cody to this day. They put in a good alternator and sent me in my way without an apology. I understand defective parts happen, and the techs couldn't have know it was defective, however I believe a good company that cares about its customers would have put their best foot forward and given me a refund for endangering my life, my children's life, making me miss work, and for my parents time who were willing to take time out of work to drive us places for 3 days. What if it had been snowy or icy, and the same thing happened, I would have went off the road and most likely all 3 of us would have died. This company could not care less about you, and only wants your money. Do not give this place your business, I sure won't ever come back here again. Edit: I have emailed the customer service address that replied to this email, and the other reviews I've left. They don't respond to me and don't care to work to help make this right with me. I brought my car in to have my brake pads replaced, only to bring it in the next day bc the brakes were clicking. I was told everything was fine, until we're on our road trip and a bolt comes loose from the caliper on my brake causing damage to my rim. This whole encounter cost me $850. When I wrote my last review, I was told to contact customer service- which I did last week and NO ONE HAS RESPONDED. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS. They will not do the job, tell you it's fine when you bring it back the SECOND time, only to put your safety in jeopardy and not deal with the consequences. Consumer Alert! Oct 2022 Brakes Plus falsely claimed I needed more brake work than necessary, and they were ready to do the work for an extra $400. I had my brakes checked at Brakes Plus and the technician showed me the following: * Burnt orange color on front rotor indicates overheating and front pads are very thin (3-4mm) -- they say to replace both front pads and rotors. * The rear pads are low (3mm) and the rear rotor is scored too deeply for resurfacing. -- they say to replace both rear pads and rotors. * I asked the technician for measurements on the pad thickness and rotor thickness. The reply was "that will be included". (Pad thickness was in the report, but not the rotor thickness) * Repair estimate $910 for both front and rear. "We can get it done in 2 hours." After a quick inspection at home, I got another opinion at Meineke the next day. (They did not know about the Brakes Plus assessment.) * Orange color on the front rotors are "heat beat" and the next likely problem will be rotor warping. The front pads are at 20%. (2.2mm) -- they say to replace both front pads and rotors. * The rear pads are 40% (4.5mm) and rotors are good. For the rear axle, there is good life left in them. * Repair estimate $517 Summary: After more accurately measuring the pads and rotors at home, I determined that the Meineke assessment was fair and accurate. The Brakes Plus assessment was inaccurate and seems like a tactic to sell more service that is not warranted. ~ $400 excess! I have trusted both shops over the many years, but now I will use Meineke at 4263 S Mason and not Brakes Plus. I am lucky to have caught it this time, and I wonder how many times Brakes Plus has and will incorrectly inform customers that unnecessary repairs are needed. Car upkeep is expensive enough, and this type of fraud strains home budgets even more! Measurements at home * Front Pads: 3mm * Front rotors: right = 27.7mm (specification range 25 - 28mm) * Rear pads: 4-5mm * Rear rotors: right = 11.6mm (specification range 10.5 - 12mm) Radial lines on rear rotors are not scoring, but dust/stain from brake pads. I lived with a clunking brake system over rough pavement for 2 years, changing many suspension parts before taking the vehicle back to Brakes Plus to check (based on a review of similar problem). Typical scams, the kind you hear about all the time from maintenance shops. Got new tires on my new car after 50k miles. For warranty, I needed an alignment check even though I knew I didn't need an alignment. Went to Brakes Plus for the "free" check and they called twenty minutes later saying I needed an alignment. I thought that was weird since I hadn't reach the mileage requirement, I didn't hit any big pot holes, and I didn't notice any kind of drift. I said no to the alignment and they gave me some phony numbers that were in red font. I went to the dealership for the actual alignment two days later. They said I was fine and that I didn't need it. The alignment numbers my dealership gave me were different than Brakes Plus. Dealership maintenance was cheaper too. read more

Went here because where else do you go when breaks are acting up. Our GMC Envoy would jerk and pulse as you applied the breaks, and so took the vehicle here to have it looked at. Was told the break pads were fine, and rotters were too. What I needed was new shocks and struts as the current ones were too stiff and that would fix the problem. Well over $900 later and after "giving it some time" the problem is still there. On top of all that they have lost the hubcap/cover for the wheel. I was needing the MAF sensor replaced on my Mercedes, so I called and took my car in this afternoon. When I got there, I expressed my concern that the mechanics have to be careful with the clips that hold the sensor in place because they are easily broken. The man who helped us said that if the clips do break, he would fix it by zip- tying it on there so it can't come off. ZIP TIE?? The employees and owner stayed in the shop about an hour later than when they were supposed to close to work on my vehicle. After the new part from the factory didn't work, the owner woke up at 5:30 in the morning to personally drive down to Denver to pick up a new pump that would end up working. What can I say more then a huge thank you to manager Jacob and the two techs Patrick and Brandon! Long story short, I bought new tires from a reputable tire store ( in which I wont name) where they told me they stripped one wheel stud and recommended Brakes Plus so they called the Fort Collins store and they fit me in. Well it turns out that the wrong lug nuts were installed and had been for over 40k miles with rotations being done every 4k by the unmentioned tire store. Each time it would pull a few threads but the tire store never caught it which lead to a potentially very dangerous condition where I could of lost a wheel. I've been a mechanic for 34 years and never caught it because I never did rotations and trusted the tire shop. That's where Brakes Plus Fort Collins rose to the occasion and quickly found that it wasn't the stud that was stripped but the lug! Jacob quickly resolved the issue with the tire store while Patrick and Brandon explained with a look of shock what had happened...I was shocked too as they were torqued to 140 for at least 10 times and didn't fail. Anyways these guys saved my day and perhaps my life? They were total pro's ,fast efficient, kind and caring! I wish more businesses operated at this level. Brakes Plus...here me out.
