Dwight and the crew were very professional and very knowledgeable about what I needed. The main thing I like about this place is that they sacrifice family time to open up and help the customers. The value was awesome - they have a program where your first oil change is $20 off and every other one is 50% off. The 6th oil change is free. Really?... I came in here to find out why my truck was vibrating on the freeway after multiple times and after spending $2,500.00 At brake check on Hwy 28 #412 store Wich I do not recommend going too. After nothing but negativity from that one store and bad mechanics who left screws lose Wich locked up my front driver side wheel when I backed up and no fluids in my radiator after flushing it!!! I could have wrecked my truck and/or killed myself or someone else... because of the #412 store on San Pedro. Now for the good news.... I came in this morning to find out why my truck was vibrating, once again #412 store put my front bearings on my truck and did not tighten the screws to the bearing to specifications. Luckily for me this store has more Patience to observe and find to correct the problem. J.V. the store director on Perrin Beitel #406 store double checked and inspected everything to ensure I would have no more issues correctly found and fixed the problem by just tightening the lose screws! I decided to get a wheel alignment and drive safely on the highway from now on. I recommend this store HIGHLY! 5 plus stars!!! Please when you have issues with your vehicle after leaving brake check...take pictures, document everything and report a.s.a.p. and/or come to Perrin Beitel #406 store ask for J.V. store director, he will not disappoint you. read more

Horrible service and poor communication. Took my vehicle to this location because the breaks were squealing. Dropped off my car and they had my car being inspected within minutes. Received a call about two hours later confirming that my breaks and rotors needed to be replaced. $360 for parts and labor. Authorized the repair, and asked him to call if there were problems or when finished. Got a call about four hours later saying the car was ready for pickup. I came immediately down to pay and pickup the vehicle. The store had my car from the minute they opened, and they were closing in less than an hour now. As I'm paying, the manager tells me the lower control arm is broke and the car will brake, but will shake now that the "tight end is tightened up." He tells me that the repair would be $300 for each side, and both sides need to be replaced. The manager told me that part is only $150, but the labor to get the wheel back off and repair is the rest of the cost. I declined them doing service because I knew it wouldn't be done that day with the store closing in 45 minutes and I got the feeling this store had less than professional employees. So I asked if I could have my parts to ensure they needed to be replaced. The manager assured me the parts were in the car, but I failed to look before leaving. I drove back home, which is less than 3 miles. Each time I applied the brakes, no matter what speed, the car would violently shake. The brakes didn't squeak, but now I had this new problem. I went to look at the old part, but they were not to be found. The manager did not check them as he claimed he did. I went back to the store to get the parts and ask about the car's new problem. Why didn't they call me when they had the wheel off to ask if I wanted this other part replaced? Why did it not do this before and now it does? Is the car safe to drive? He couldn't answer any questions, but he told me he would call his district manager on Monday and get back to me that day to see if he could do anything. That was last Sunday. He has yet to call. Someone else looked at the brakes today. Parts were tightened by hand, not calibrated. One part was outright missing. The mechanic said that the control arm was not broke, but the shaking was due to the part missing. Now the car doesn't shake, but the brakes almost sound like they're grinding worse than ever. Great job Brake Check! I wouldn't recommend them to cover their own warranty since the manager can't even fulfill his promise. Worst experience ever! read more

I went by this location requesting for air in my tires after my light went on... claimed they were too busy. Crazy... you don't have 2 minutes to add air to a ladies tires... customer service out the window!!! Needless to say won't be using Brake Che k for future services as in the past. read more

Terrible experience. I had an appointment and it took all day for them to do absolutely nothing. I had a broken strut and it took them 3 hours to call and tell me that. When I asked why it took so long the man who I believe was the manager said they were trying to look for the part to fix my broken strut. They still managed to find a way to charge me for something. The dealership told me that Brake Check didn't tighten my calibers all the way and brake fluid was leaking everywhere. I called and spoke to an area manager who works at another location locally and he asked me to stop by and speak to him. I told him that would be a waste of my time. He said he would call me back after looking into the situation and he never called me back. I will go to the dealership in the future. read more

I can't say enough good things about Brake Check and especially this location. The service was extremely helpful and friendly. No upsell attempts or pushing things I didn't need. Based on how my brakes were acting, I was thinking my visit would cost several hundred dollars. Turns out I just needed my rotors machined and it was surprisingly cheap. And they did a great job. The front rotors had to be turned and I was charged even though I think it was caused by poor work from Brake Check (rotors had previously been turned, including brake pads, at the NewBraunfels location and I think it was poor work). Anyway, when the brakes were done at the NewBraunfels location I had to take car back a second time because they had not tightened something down properly. Sad, knowing that there are supposed to be brake specialists! I will stick to using only my regular mechanic. read more

Used to love this place, been a customer for over a year, loved the honesty. Until they decided to hire the most sleazy manager in the world. His name is Patrick and if you decide to get anything done by him, STAY IN THE LOCATION. He will lie to your face without any problem. I was quoted a 350 price to change my catalytic converter plus other stuff. As the day progressed this price started getting more steep. By the end of the day I was quoted to almost 700!. Fine, I did not mind. I was not happy with the idea of leaving my car overnight. I told the manager that I would bring my car back again to do that job. He asked me to prepay for the job, and when I declined he questioned me as if I have to pay for a service days in advance. I decided to take the part to NAPA auto parts and I was told that the part was PERFECTLY FINE. So please use caution, this man would of stole 700 from me without any problems, without even changing the part. He is a sleaze and I will never return to brake check since they are into hiring thieves as managers. BUYER BEWARE OF PATRICK!!! read more

Horrible experience. I showed up at 2:30 PM and the manager, Jason Kleist, told me he knew what was wrong with my car (master cylinder needed to be replaced) and could fix it for $450. I was hesitant because I had to tutor some of my students at 5:30 PM but decided I'd go for it because he seemed so sure he could fix it and told me it would take 2 hours (and I just wanted my brakes fixed!). I started to worry when the mechanic started smoking cigarettes WHILE he was working on my car and forgot to hook some tube looking thing back up and slammed my hood on it (I could see all of this through the window); at which the manager (who had been messing around on his iPhone in plain sight inside) ran out there, looking worried. When he came back in at around 4:15 PM, I asked for an update and the manager told me it would be about 5 to 6 minutes. I was so relieved...until 30 minutes later I had to flag the manager down and ask for another update. He, then, told me it would be about an hour or so longer. I had to cancel my tutoring sessions (last minute) and started to get frustrated. Around 6 PM he comes in and tells me the car isn't fixed and he knows what it is but it's going to cost me more money to fix it. Hmph. My brakes STILL sunk all the way down to the floor. Not being the arguing type, I paid my money and decided I'd just see if his manager would be willing to help me - they have an electronic survey to fill out when you are checking out asking how satisfied you were with the service and I selected "I prefer not to say, please have a district manager contact me". Well, it's been about a week and no one has contacted me (I've even tried to call customer service and left a voicemail) so I've decided to take it as an expensive lesson learned. read more
