This place was a pleasant surprise. We pulled up to the United to buy some fuel on the way back from the snowy mountains and saw those 3 welcome words - Braised Pork Café. Hello you.
There was an adequately sized menu of tasty lunch and dinner options such as salads, rolls, sandwiches and "New Orleans Pulled pork rolls !" Wonderful news for a fan of tasty New Orleans Cuisine and an unexpected addition to the menu. Thankfully there were only 3 to choose from. I wouldn't have liked too much choice as I would have wondered what I was missing out on and seriously could not try ALL 3 !
Hands down the easiest choice was the 'Eaglehawk' : braised pulled pork, diced bacon, grilled onion and gravy served with cajun coleslaw - YUM ! Not too easy to eat in the car from your lap but if you have time to have a rest stop there were chairs and tables for a civilised meal. The service was pleasant, efficient and the meal was very reasonably priced ($9.90) considering how filling, tasty and unique it was. The best roadhouse food that I have ever had and I hope that they do very well.
Clean and simple cafe but a nice touch was the mural on the wall to illustrate where you were in relation to New Orleans.
