We thought maybe over the past year some improvements would have been made. We were wrong. The service was once again poor. Our coffees arrived 10 minutes after ordering and to be honest were not to bad but nothing to get excited about. Our breakfasts were served close to one hour after ordering. Considering we saw my husbands pancakes premade in the fridge and I only had bacon and eggs this is ridiculous. The pancakes were not even reheated all the way through. My Turkish bread toast was over cooked but obviously cooked a long time prior to the rest of the food. It was stone cold and the hideous amount of butter spread on it didn't even melt in to the bread. My bacon was undercooked and the fat was all congealed. The scrambled eggs were cooked but had no flavour at all. While this cafe is not expensive, it is not cheap either and the cost did not reflect the quality of the food at all.

Well, apart from my own taste, it's not uncommon to see owners of other local coffee shops, whose businesses close on weekends, frequenting chatterbox on Saturdays. The food is excellent and very well priced (surprising given Canberra's overpriced brunch market). Friendly staff who remember your face and order round this out. Bonus- some staff also work at Mingle in the city during the week, and as such if you're a city worker, you can check out Chatterbox on the weekend and your coffee will be known!
