They took a hit due to Uber but before the loss of business they where one of the best in the area extremely efficient and reliable. If you want to support a local family owned business definitely give them a call if you need a scheduled ride they haven't been as good with last minute pick ups due to not being able to afford the extra staff they used to have. Ive used them for years but I felt extra obligated to leave a review because im shocked at these other reviews. Hope they can continue to pull through. read more

made a reservation for a cab to the airport and the cab never showed. i called the company 15 minutes after they were supposed to pick me up and they said they would send someone right then and I could not wait or I would have missed my flight . DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!! We had a confirmed 4am pickup for Logan Airport and they never showed up. No one answered when I called so we were left with no way to get to the airport. A terrible way to start a vacation- I can tell you that. read more

On Thursday, March 16, 2017, I was at the Braintree Station waiting for the next bus/subway to Hingham, Massachusetts. I stepped outside and decided to take a taxi service instead because I was growing impatient. I got into the first cab that was in line and it just so happens to have been a Checker Cab. That's when I met Craig. My destination was Wahlburgers in Hingham. Craig got me there as quickly as possible and was polite and/or cordial. I asked if I could contact him for my return trip back to my hotel, he obliged and gave me his contact information. When I was finished, I contacted Craig and he did the best he could to make sure that I wasn't waiting too long for my ride back. He said that his co-worker Dan, could pick me up. Damn was pleasant and had a great sense of humor that I appreciated. I was so impressed with Craig and Dan, that I called Craig again for my trip to Quincy Market on Saint Patrick's Day and my trip to South Station heading home to Connecticut. I believe that Craig and I forged a friendship between us because of his honest business sense and willingness to help people reach their destinations. In my opinion, Craig is a pure asset to his profession and Checker Cab Company. read more

I am shocked by the previous reviews - i have had a wonderful experience with all the drivers for this company .... I have used the company since October 2017 as frequently as three times a week during my Dad's decline from cancer at Linden Ponds. And after his sad passing, they could not have been more accommodating or sympathetic. I have continued to call this company for reliable pick ups at the Braintree T station, with a return trip from Linden Ponds 2 to 3 times a month. I am baffled by the commentaries about the "personal" comments on the drivers - it is illegal in the United States of America to discriminate against anyone on their physical appearance or choice of religion; so why all the hate speech? read more

Waited half an hour for a cab that never showed up, when I'm only 1 mile away from the company's location. Got the next bus that ran by instead. Edit: I am so sorry to the driver who keeps calling me, I tried to call the company to cancel the cab but they never picked up the phone. I feel terrible for the poor driver, but I really couldn't be later than I already am. read more

I had asked for a cab to pick me up in hull at 5:00 am on Sunday jun 16 since I had. 7:30 flight to Montana. I called and confirmed the day before, was assured that I was on the list, a cab would be there. Sunday morning comes and cab had yet to arrive at 5:15. I called and was sent into voicemail. Had to drive my car to Braintree, speeding in order to catch the bus to logan in time for my flight. When I return I will have to pay $100 for parking. Just thankful I didn't have an accident or a stroke trying to get to the airport. I don't recommend this company! read more

I would not recommend Braintree checker cab to people who are traveling to or from Braintree station. My wife and I called a checker cab at Braintree station on a cold February night after a five hours flight from west coast back to Boston. The checker cab driver was really unwelcoming as he sits in the driver seat while forgetting to open the trunk as we waited behind the car to load our luggage. While driving to my home, he does not know the way so I had to help him navigate as he made at least 2 wrong turns. By the time we paid him, he does not think the tip was enough. Eventually we had to pay him a dollar extra in order for him to open the car door and "release" us. It was really a horrible experience to say the least. I might be too general to rate checker cab a one star on one occasion, but based on previous review's comment, I am not surprised that checker cab's service is below par compare to some of its competitors in Braintree on a consistent basis. I used other services in Braintree throughout the years and nothing similar to that of checker cab's service has ever happened. I hope Checker cab can improve and provide the people who are traveling to and from Braintree station to other south shore communities another great service! read more

Shifty company...charged me a flat fee of $40 (the driver comsulted a fake book with fees) to go from Braintree T station to Hanover Mall. I got extra fleeced bc the cab driver scared me so I gave him a $10 tip, hoping he wouldn't kill me. The ride was not at a peak time (i.e., it was after 7 pm) during work commute and there was no traffic. It cost me this same amount to go from Brookline to Hanover a few months ago. They clearly pad their charges and the driver was sketchy...he drove in the slow lane extra, extra slow. I kept thinking of that scene from the movie The Bone Collector where the passengers get killed by a fake cabbie. I am not sure what a reputable local cab company is that I can recommend in its place but I would avoid Checker Cab and its checkered service... read more

Checker Cab is really good at what they do they always on time I'm going to take the every call and it take every complaint seriously and customer service are the number one quality the owner of the company is looking nice all his vehicles are well maintained and their customers are the number one quality the owner is a very fair person the manager is on call 24/7 and he took every single phone call. I have to admit, after reading other reviews for this taxi service I was skeptical when it came time to schedule a pick-up. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when our driver (Jerome) not only showed up right on time, but knew shortcuts around traffic, and could recommend restaurant and entertainment options near our drop-off location. He was friendly and courteous and definitely seemed to know the city and the local area well. He changed our opinion of cab drivers, that's for sure! We highly recommend this company, and specifically Jerome, for your transportation needs. read more

Though oddly cleaner than the typical Braintree cab, the ride itself was terrifying. A short trip from the T station was a race through a yellow a light and a sudden decision to stop leaving the cab on the cross walk. Another race through my 15 mph condo complex at high speeds and while swerving to avoid road bumps scared the crap out of me. Next time Checker is next in the T queue, I'll just bypass it for next in line. read more

Called them for a short cab ride (CVS to home). They said 15 minute wait. 40 mins and 2 more calls later, they still hadn't come -- finally a stranger took pity on me and drove me home. I think they didn't think the short ride was worth it -- would have walked but I have pneumonia!!!!!! On June 3, 2014 I needed a ride to the Braintree train station and I called the Checker company. They were really nice and sent the cab in 10 minutes. BUT during the cab ride I FEARED MY LIFE!!!!! The driver was like 80 years old, that wouldn't bother me, but he was on oxygen support, his cough sounded dangerous (I am a clinician), couldn't keep the car in the lane, missed a car by 4 inches, hit a lot side-curbs and when he answered his cellphone the car started to go diagonal across the lane. My car lock was frozen this morning so I called Braintree Checker cab to drive me 3 minutes down the road to the train station. They didn't show up so I had to call a different cab company, Braintree Blue Cab, who showed up promptly in 5 minutes. It was -6 degrees out and I ended up an hour late for work because Braintree Checker cab didn't show. When I tried to call them to find out where the cab was no one answered and I was transferred to a voicemail. Terrible. read more
