Before I came to see Thea at Brain State Balance, I have been battling chronic Lyme disease for the past 3 years, since I was 15 years old. By the middle of my sophomore year I had no choice but to enroll in an independent studies program, because I was too sick to physically attend school. I gradually began to get my health back, but I was still having some problems here and there. My memory was horrible, I couldn't retain information, when I attempted to read I couldn't get past the first sentence without forgetting what I had read, and I just couldn't concentrate period. I could never get to sleep till about 5 or 6 in the morning, and I wouldn't wake up during the day unless someone woke me up, which meant sometimes sleeping till 5pm or later. I would refuse to go outside because I couldn't stand the sunlight, so I was constantly in my room with the curtains closed. My son, Josiah, has been struggling with his academics since he began preschool and as the years went by his ADHD symptoms interfered with his ability to function at school. It wasn't until the 4th grade that I finally decided to give ADHD med's a try and their side effects were far worse than the benefit. He became moody, irritable, and experienced nose bleeds. On day 3, he told me he was hearing voices. I stopped the med's immediately and did some research. My son's doctor forgot to mention these important facts while she was prescribing the medicine. Anyhow, back to my point. My son began the neurofeedback treatments with Thea back in December 2012. I was graced by the universe to meet Thea and experience the brain state technology neuroplasticity training. It was a dark point in my life - I was going through a divorce, had lost a job and my daughter was both depressed and having difficulty in high school. I started the training to help my daughter with focus in her classes and on tests. I first tried the technology myself before having her try it, to see if I saw any benefits. It was incredible - I gained focus, a greater ability to deal with the immense stress I was under and a deeper level of spiritual connection. My daughter then took the training.
