Sadly, this place has gone downhill big time. I recently brought my vehicle here for usual…read moremaintenance work such as a tune-up, tire rotation, wheel balance, and headlight cleaning. Of course, in typical mechanic fashion, while doing these things, they found that one of the tie rods needed to be replaced, so I permitted them to do this as well. Upon picking my car up, this cost me $1,206; sadly in 2026, everything is overpriced. However, not even 20 hours later my car was driving rough and making a clunky noise. I drove it one place and had to pull off into a parking lot, called Sargent's and let them know that the car was unsafe to drive and they needed to get it towed back to their lot. Within one hour the tow truck came. About 3 hours later Sargent's calls me to inform me that my transfer case was cracked and would need replacement and of course this would cost an ADDITIONAL $1,160 to fix! My car is 13 years old, I do not expect that it is in perfect condition but what I do expect is for people to do their due diligence and thoroughly check my car over before releasing it to me. The transfer case was leaking, this should have been a telltale sign by a trained mechanic that there was an issue PRIOR to releasing the vehicle to me in the first place. However, because my car was already there, I decided to go ahead and get the work done there despite the fact that they pissed me off due to their negligence and lazy work. I picked my car up yesterday evening after six days of them having it and on the drive home, I could tell that my car was still not driving properly but knew I was taking it to a mechanic friend that I actually TRUST to thoroughly look over my car. I drove it to said mechanic friend today in Waukee and decided to take the interstate to test drive it at higher speeds, and yet again loud clunky noises and a shaky steering wheel. After my friend drove it with me in the car, after 2 minutes he confirmed that there was an issue and that he would be taking my car to inspect Sargent's shoddy work. Come to find out, these lazy bas**ards did not even bother to tighten the lug nuts on my wheels, this was the reason for the sound and shakiness, my tires were coming off!! This is an extreme hazard and safety issue and I could have been hurt while driving on the interstate!! Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this awful place and neither will anyone I know. The customer service is also nonexistent here as Graham could not even be bothered to call me with updates half the time, he would just text them to me and then he acted like I was a bother to him when I made him arrange for my car to be towed back to his lot once I deemed it unsafe to drive. Take your car here at your own risk but you have been warned that they do not do basic things like tighten lug nuts nor do they test drive after "fixing" the cars.

Horrible company!! My brother bought a used Ford Explorer Sport Trac from this place for $11,600+…read more He had it for 2 weeks when the check engine light came on. He took the car to be checked and was told it would need a new engine. When he called the dealership to talk to them, they were completely nasty. The salesman, Mick, was ubnoxious and kept saying he didn't believe the mechanic. He insisted my brother take it to someone else. After taking the car to 3 different places, one of which they specifically told him to take it to, Mick still refused to believe the car had any problems. He refused to let my brother talk to the manager and even threatened to have me arrested when I said I would come in to talk to the manager in person. What legitimate business does that?!? In the end, my brother is stuck with an expensive paperweight. The car died on the way home from the third garage and no longer runs. My brother was finally able to talk to the manager after I reported them to the BBB. He was rude and offended that we had reported them. He offered to replace the engine with one that had nearly twice the miles on it and we would have had to pay another $1,000 for that. Their owner also owns a Salvage yard, so why would we trust that engine or their skills at replacing one?? My brother offered to return the truck in return for a refund of $10k (less than he paid) and they refused. Horrible company, horrible people, avoid at all cost!! The people are nasty and abusive and do NOT stand behind the cars they sell. They claim to sell "highly reconditioned vehicles" but refuse to help when something goes wrong. I have no idea how they've managed to stay in business for so long. Save yourself a lot of time and money and avoid this place.

I bought my 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt at Kars Inc. a couple of months ago. I worked mainly with Tom,…read moreone of the sails associates, who was an absolute gem. He was so great to work with. From the minute I arrived at Kars Inc., I felt more comfortable than I did at any other car lot I had gone to. Instead of walking up and feeling closely watched and followed by the workers, Tom approached us on the lot, asked us if we had any cars in mind we wanted to look at, and directed us straight to the Cobalt. The process of taking a test drive was a dream. Tom made a photo copy of my driver's license, and let my mom and I take the car for a test drive on our own. I always feel uncomfortable when car dealers come on the test drive, because I would feel like I couldn't make comments on things I didn't like about the cars. It was a real treat that Tom let us take our time to get to know the car on our own so we didn't feel pressured. We ended up buying the car that day! When it came to the wheeling and dealing of prices, Tom let us name the price we wanted to sell my current car for, instead of forcing one upon us. Once I was home, I noticed that my car was leaking water in the passenger's side when it rained. I called Tom about it, and even though my car wasn't under warranty, he and his fellow employees worked endlessly to figure out what was causing it, and fixed the problem without me having to spend a dime! It turns out one of the lines from the sunroof was blocked, which was somehow causing water to come in... I'm not a car expert, so I don't remember all the fancy lingo. Tom felt so bad that he didn't catch this problem before sending the car home with me, and told me that if it ever gets blocked up again, I should bring it in and he will clean it out for me. I also worked with a few of the other employees at Kars Inc. here and there, and I'm bummed I can't remember their names, because the entire experience was great. Everyone was so kind, and I knew that I was buying my car from honest people who put absolutely no pressure on me for anything. I HIGHLY recommend checking out Kars Inc. if you're in need of a car!

When I followed up, I was quoted over $400 for labor alone, without parts, which is extremely overpriced for this type of job. On top of that, the shop refused to take my business unless I paid for an alignment, even though I already have a lifetime alignment package elsewhere. The representative I spoke with was unprofessional, dismissive, and gave off low-energy, negative vibes. It was clear they were more interested in upselling than providing honest service. Stay away from this place--there are far better options with fair pricing and decent customer service. I was hung up on as well. Horrible experience

I had a terrible experience with Drake Garage. I was referred by a community member who thought…read morethey were trustworthy, but they treated me very unfairly and completely ripped me off. I was told the work on my car would cost $500. I left the car with them, and it sat in their garage for a week with no updates. Then suddenly, they said I would have to pay $2,100. Two days later, they changed the price again to $2,700. The next day, they said they would give me a 10% "first-time discount" and finally charged me $2,500. All of this was for just fixing the AC. To make it worse, they broke my front bumper in the process. When I asked them to fix it, they didn't take responsibility--instead, they called the police on me. The owner was very rude and unprofessional. I strongly believe they took advantage of me because I am a refugee and not fluent in English. This place is dishonest and abusive. I regret ever trusting them and will make sure no one else from my community makes the same mistake.
