AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

(11 reviews)

If I could give negative stars I would…read more Avoid this AAMCO at all costs. We paid $4,452 for a replacement transmission and related work on our 2013 Nissan Altima. Over the next three months, AAMCO installed FOUR defective transmissions. Three began failing within approximately 20 miles; the fourth triggered another transmission code within 120 miles. We returned to this shop almost every week, yet they never permanently fixed the vehicle or provided us with diagnostic-code readouts. When we originally asked for a ballpark replacement cost, Bryan refused to give one before charging $310 for diagnostics. He later indicated that AAMCO's approach is essentially to get vehicles into the shop before discussing costs. We believed we were purchasing a remanufactured transmission, but we now have serious doubts about what was actually installed. After the fourth transmission failed, the shop blamed a possible programming issue. On June 19, manager Edris signed a statement saying there were no transmission codes, the fluid was clean, and the vehicle had only "minor shift issues." Despite that written assessment, AAMCO later claimed the 12-month/12,000-mile warranty was void because the vehicle was driven on a planned trip of fewer than 530 miles roundtrip. Nobody told us that driving the car, taking it outside some undefined "local" area, or declining to leave it at the shop would void the warranty. We repeatedly tried to have the recommended programming completed before the trip, but AAMCO delayed until it was impossible to schedule. After the trip, AAMCO continued gathering claim documentation and led us to believe a fifth transmission would be provided. Then, on July 22, they abruptly called the trip "neglect" and denied further warranty coverage. Apparently, a 12,000-mile warranty can be voided by driving fewer than 530 miles--even after the manager provides a signed statement minimizing the problem. The mechanical incompetence and warranty games were bad enough, but Edris's behavior toward our fiancée was completely unacceptable. While she was trying to resolve a $4,452 repair disaster, he repeatedly called her "love," "boo," and "beautiful," asked her to "hang out," offered "big hugs and kisses," joked that he tried to keep her there longer, and admitted that he was flirting with her. She was a customer seeking help with an unsafe, repeatedly failing vehicle--not someone visiting a dating service. Exploiting an already stressful situation to flirt with a customer was grossly unprofessional, demeaning, and creepy. After four failed transmissions, nearly weekly visits, months of wasted time, contradictory explanations, inappropriate messages, and a conveniently voided warranty, we are left with a defective vehicle and no meaningful relief. If you value your money, your time, your warranty, or basic professional boundaries, take your vehicle somewhere else.

Very friendly and professional shop. Repairs were done correctly and at a fraction of the dealer…read moreprice. Transmissions to brakes they do it all. I trust them for repairs to my truck but more importantly to my wife's and daughter's cars.

A few years ago my family's auto mechanic had retired so we were looking around to find a new one…read more Clay's was recommended so I took my Toyota for its upcoming inspection. I told the mechanic I had a cracked front reflector and asked if that would affect inspection. He said it would not, but after looking at it he pointed out that there was also a separation which would allow water to enter and cause more damage. I told him I had a replacement on order and he said he could put some tape to cover it till the piece arrived. I agreed and thanked him. I didn't look closely at my itemized bill till I got home, which is when I saw a charge of $15 for him to put a 3" piece of packing tape over the cracked reflector. Now, that wasn't a huge charge and they probably would have removed the charge if I asked them to, but for me it was more a matter of principle: I wasn't told about the charge. Clay's was off our list. Around the same time, my brother found another local mechanic which we have been using since then, which is over ten years now. Counting family members and two friends we recommended, there are seven vehicles that are now regularly serviced there, and not at Clay's Automotive.

The Mechanic then told me that one of my tires needed to be replaced and that I had to wait until the Manager Gus returned back to work to change the tire as well as doing my tire rotation, because he didn't want to go behind another mechanics work and that Gus was the Manager who did the tire work. The Mechanic called the Manager Gus to discuss the the issue, Gus the manager got extremely irate , rude and began yelling through the phone, I reported it to the Manager on site Zack 7/27/24 was very arrogant and not helpful at and wanted to charge me $105 dollars for a tire that is under warranty (a life time warranty at that) I asked is there any way that you can compensate me with the replacement of my warranty tire and they would not compensate or give me a reduce rate on a tire that was under warranty telling me that the tire that I have is no longer in stock and the one's in stock are a little more expensive, well that is not my fault, that particular tire was out of stock, so you going to charge me full price $105 dollars, shame on Walmart, both Gus and Zack the manager's are the worst and have very poor customer service and no work ethic at all, they're both are arrogant, rude and very disrespectful to their Walmart customers.... Do Not Get Any Auto Service from the Eddy Stone Walmart, You Will Be Disappointed
