But its the food that sells it at the end of the day. I've lost count of the times i've had fish and chips to be met with chewy fish and overly thick batter. All but gving up thinking you could get something really well prepared and fresh this far from the coast. So Blakeleys was a refreshing change to that! Good portion sizes obviously, as this is of course a Yorkshire chippy! But not crazy like some. Lunchtime special was fish and chips, bread and butter and a pot of tea for £6.80. Fantastic value especially considering the quality of the food. The menu is actually quite large and so would cater easily for anyone fancying a change from the standard. And with some very tempting proper puddings too as well as beers and wine for anyone who fancies it. Very good!

I had a look on Yelp beforehand so knew this chippy was in a handy location. Just off the main road going through Hebden Bridge and is close to the visitors centre. Surprisingly I was not that hungry so just finished some chips so just got a small portion for £1. You can get a normal portion size for £1.50, a cone for 85p. The chips were Ok. A bit bland. I dont normally get them to add salt as chippys usually add too much but even without it, expect it to taste OK - sometimes not needing any at all. But this time it could have done with some added.

They won an award a few years ago for best fish and chip shop but I still think they're one of the best in Brighouse. The fish is beautiful and they do great chips. I love to get them from here and go and eat them by the canal on a sunny day. The staff in here are friendly and always have a smile. The shop looks a bit old and worn but still very clean. I haven't been in the restaurant but it looks nice from the outside!
