I've been coming here with my daughter for several months as the parent of a patient, but as of yesterday, I am now a patient as well. My viewpoint has changed, and so has my rating/review.
The staff is still amazing, and Dr. Mahajan is always smiling! I went in for a consult on Thursday, and Friday morning, I returned to have my braces installed! Here's where my frustration began. I was placed with an assistant who may have been on her very first day. She didn't explain anything as she did the installation and had to stop to have her work checked repeatedly. Believe me, I want the work checked, but this made the process longer than expected. I was told it would take an hour, and it took 90 minutes. This is important for a working mother when it comes to scheduling. In fact, all of my teeth weren't bracketed and wired during my visit due to this.
I felt like I was at the IU School of Dentistry (where I used to get my dental work done when I didn't have insurance), so I wasn't surprised to find out through the literature provided that the doctor teaches there. I imagine that she hires many of her students. I just wish I hadn't been the "guinea pig."
The young woman was unsure of the steps and began doing things out of order. She asked questions, and when another assistant got interrupted while responding, she just moved forward with her actions without receiving full instructions. I'm a strong believer in "if you don't know, ask," but more importantly, make sure you get a full response before proceeding!
Before leaving, I was given a folder with care instructions, and thank goodness because nothing had been explained to me. The info stated that I'd be given wax to help with discomfort. I wasn't. And I actually went back into the office later that afternoon to have my bite turbos looked at. They're blue and had been placed behind my two front teeth. The way they were applied made it look like I'd been eating a blue Airhead and had gotten it stuck to my teeth. Alexis fixed them for me as best as she could. I'm already a full-grown adult with braces, I don't want to look like I have candy stuck to my teeth. Why'd they let me leave like that in the first place?
I return in 4 weeks and hope to have a better experience. They do have a cool rewards program for good oral hygiene and making all of your schedule appointments where you can earn gift cards to Starbucks & Target. read more
