I was attending an appt in the area, so I quickly googled a place, I lucked up to get a last min appt scheduled for after I am done at my Dr appt. The folks at the salon were very kind and attentive. I only had to wait for the actual services I went in for, nothing extra. I can say that I did love how my hair felt (glaze does so much) and the style it was cut into, but I didn't actually get the finished curl style as an option (that I asked for; I came there with what I wanted it to be styled like afterwards). He kinda forces you to get the style he wants you to have. I could either walk out of there with a straight blow out bumped bob or an air-dried natural curl :^/ I came there with an expectation of cost and style, and neither were met as I mentioned above with the style, as far as the costs, I didn't expect to pay as much as I did for what service I received. I've had these services done many times in many upscale salons/boutiques and it's never went over $200 (w/out tip). I will take the fall for the cost though as I didn't ask for the prices upfront during my scheduling, because I was excited to just get a last min. appt (due to them having so many cancellations), I was happy to just get seen. These were the only real complaints I had out of this experience. I will say that even though I don't feel I got what I paid for, I did like the services and ultimately the blah style I had to settle with, I didn't mind it as much. It is not worth the $$$ they charged me (I should've gotten an itemized bill to see exactly what they charge for services as it's not posted anywhere online or instore). Makes me wonder if they make up prices based off of certain circumstances or something? Any who, for these few things I'd probably not go back unless I had no other options available. Samething I'd say if someone asks me would I recommend... I'd only recommend them to someone if that's the only option available at the moment in that area because they do treat you right, but you can't go there telling them how you want your hair to be done as they will do it the way they want and charge you which I don't believe is worth the prices they charge.

Washing my hair at the end of the haircut (instead of the beginning, as others do, which makes no sense to me) was a really nice touch. It is in a the corner of a shopping center on the corner of Glebe and Columbia Pike (between the clinic and a pizza place). But, wow am I happy I know where it is now! I wanted to get my hair done in a subtle red to golden ombre. My sister called the salon and talked to the owner, I think her name was Flor, and worked the whole thing out. All I had to do was show up. Silvia was my stylist. She sat down with me and looked at my reference picture and was upfront and helpful. She worked hard on my hair and the color came out amazing. She trimmed it all up and styled it, even curling it to show off the ombre even better. I felt like a celebrity when she was done! I can't even express how happy I am with the results, I posted some pictures on this page to show her gorgeous work! I plan on becoming a regular at this salon, I can't pass up such an amazing stylist, and the prices don't break the bank either! If you want a hipster atmosphere with fancy fixtures and long waits, then go to DC....but if you want real talent from unpretentious people at reasonable rates come to this hair salon.

I was unhappy with my experience here. I am not from the area, but had read the rave review and…read moredecided I would give it a try. I came in hoping for a trim, a simple straight cut, but one that wouldn't leave my thick hair looking blunt/triangle-y. Part of the problem might have been the language barrier--my stylist (don't know his name) did not speak English well at all. I thought I was able to communicate what I wanted clearly. He did not wash my hair but sprayed it with water. He combed my hair and cut it straight across with scissors, creating a blunt/triangle shape. He asked me to examine it with a mirror to determine it was straight. He didn't comb the front of my hair (near my face) down to cut it, but rather cut it while it was parted on the side. I had to ask him to comb it down in the front to make sure it was even. This haircut took 10 minutes total and cost $25. There was no wash, no styling. I think I'm frustrated because a friend could have given me the same cut in 10 minutes for free with a pair of kitchen scissors.

Ok...so I have been causally passing by this barbershop/salon for approximately 3 years not knowing…read morethe abilities that the barber had to offer. I would peek through the huge window every now and then on my way to the liquor store and always notice 1-2 customers waiting to receive a haircut. Due to the low number of patrons awaiting haircuts I immediately judged the establishment due to my half-priced window shopping. Unfortunately, I have just realized that I was terribly mistaken and have learned to judge no further!! I reluctantly walked in to notice another person receiving his haircut. As I waited I managed to grab a few underlying stares at the barber's work. I must say the work that was already completed looked great! Now....it's my turn. I confidently sat in the chair, told the barber what I needed, and he went to to work. END RESULT: My shape up looked like he cut it with diamond...NO LIE!!! That's all I have to say. The barber responsible for this masterpiece goes by the name "Shanx". The spelling may potentially be incorrect, but his work is certainly on point!

I have to say I was very excited to try Ekti for a facial. When I called the week before the…read morereceptionist made my appointment and took my number. Since she didn't ask me what type of facial I wanted I asked if the appointment time would be long enough for dermaplanning and glycolic peel. She said the esthetician would make sure. In hindsight I wonder if she even understood the procedures/time frame it takes. Usually you ask the guest so that you can make sure you have true availability. I should have known something was wrong when I didn't get a reminder call but I figured I was set since the receptionist confirmed it. I called the day of my appointment (4/4) as I thought I might have the wrong time and wanted to make sure I was okay. When I called they said they had no record of my appointment. The receptionist placed me on hold for a few minutes and then a different person picked up. She too said she didn't see it and also that the person who did dermaplanning wasn't even there and had been out all week for personal reasons. Not a big deal but why wouldn't someone had called me to tell me (oh wait the receptionist never made my appointment)? To make matters worse it seemed like they didn't even care. No offer to make a new appointment when she returned and the most insincere sorry I have ever heard. She did say she could maybe squeeze me in for a regular facial which isn't what I wanted so why would I even say yes to that option. I worked my day around this appointment and it was such a waste of my time. Unfortunate as I get facials regularly and was hoping this would be my new home.
