Good burgers, good fish and chips, and good open mics on Mondays. This bar has a friendly…read moreneighborhood vibe. Locals come here to catch sporting events on the TVs. The food and drinks are all reasonably priced. The Monday open mic night (8 pm to midnight) was fun to attend and watch talented musicians perform. Good vibes all around

If you are a singer and are looking for an open mic in Paris DO NOT GO TO RUSH BAR FOR THEIR Monday…read morenight jam. There is a list but it apparently does not matter to Igor, the master of the evening who calls up whoever he feels like calling up whenever he feels like it. We arrived a bit after 7pm for the scheduled 7:30 jam which finally started after 8pm. I put my name on the suddenly materialized list which already had 7 names on it. So I am number 8. At after 10pm and two hours of 7 people playing music (3-4 numbers each) Igor announced that the music was going to move from the main floor to the basement room so they could add in drums and really make some noise. I got his attention and said "I am next on the list..." He brushed me off and said "there is no order to the list." There were singers performing tonight who were new to the club but most others seemed to be regulars and friends of Igor's. What a crappy system to not let newcomers know that even though you get there before the start time and "sign up" on the list you WILL NOT BE CALLED UP IN ORDER and who knows if you will ever get to play. So SKIP this place if you are a newcomer...

The Quiet Man - St. Patrick's day

On my first day in Paris, I was dying for a nap after not sleeping on my overnight flight but 'how…read moreto beat jet lag' tutorials advocate staying awake until local bedtime. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it until my usual bedtime of midnight-ish (that's a liberal ish), but 9pm seemed reasonable. It was a chilly fall night and a pint of Guinness or two sounded like the ideal nightcap, err, sleep inducer. A quick search on my Yelp app and a brisk 10-minute walk later, I arrived at The Quiet Man. Like most bars in Paris, the Quiet Man is tiny... especially tiny, even. However, the diminutive size was far less intimidating than walking into a bar filled with loud, jovial men and only one stool to be snagged. I never took my eyes off it while waiting for my perfectly-poured Guinness and stealthily made my way over before pouncing: all mine! Over the next 2 hours, I 'met' the guys next to me several times (close proximity is a powerful instigator of friendship), pretended like I understood everyone's Fast french while nodding and smiling, was gifted a Guinness from one of my elbow-mates, and embarked on a deep and lengthy political conversation in English with a 60-ish Frenchman who had previously lived in London and Dublin (sidenote: this convo took place right before the U.S. presidential election and everyone and their far-removed cousin expressed interest in hearing my opinion). A couple of Guinness later, I was sufficiently spent. And this cool unassuming dive, like its friendly patrons, won't be soon forgotten. PS: There's nothing quiet about the Quiet Man ;)

Unbelievably awesome bar... Music downstairs, meat & guinness on top. Best bar in Paris...fact!read more

The cocktails are very fun, and they even have a few beers here if that's your thing. The servers speak fluent English, and it is popular with foreigners, but it's not a tourist trap by any means.

So the little red door has a cute red door but the bouncer lets you in through another door (novelty observed haha). The man takes your jacket and umbrella (what a gentleman!) and sat us on the second floor. While the space between the couch and the seats were rather small, we were able to manage. I got the permaculture and resilience. The resilience is a club favorite and my favorite too! The way the sorghum, pineapple sage (syrup), pasquet cognac, and savanna rum all tied together was a blessing. I was going to get a third but I was tipsy by my second drink. My first drink was the permaculture and while I was considered it would be strong, it didn't seem strong to me. I love clarified dairy in alcohol so this was a win in my book. It consists of chestnut, butter, wakaze umeshu, avallen Calvados. The bar let's you stay for an hour but if you sit elsewhere, you can stay as long as you want. 5 stars and I hope to come back someday!
