Over as many years as we have been traveling in and out of Detroit Metro Airport I am always amazed that this station charges the high prices that it does. A quick check of the area finds stations within one to two miles charging almost a dollar per gallon less. This BP is the closest gas station to several rental car locations so they have the market for people like us who were running late and need to gas up in a pinch. So, great location. I hate monopolies and I really hate this BP Gas station. Gas is always 10% higher here than the going rate which is absurd. Think about it - $4.40 vs. $4.00 for the cheap stuff. I know there is a premium for being close to the airport, but really what a gouging. And then, since this is the only gas station close to the rental car returns for Detroit Airport it is always busy. People do not know how to deal with getting in line and being patient in general and this gas station is set up so poorly for the volume of customers that the frustration and chaos is taken to a whole new level of stupid. And then, the only gas that was available was the cheap stuff. This is usually not a problem since all rental cars get the cheap gas anyway, but it is a little ghetto to put tape on your pumps for mid and super. And then, the way the gas station is sited makes it is really hard to get in and out of; it is on the opposite side of the street from where the rental cars are located and need to be dropped off. This necessitates a left to get into the place and a left to get out of the place. That is a pain in the neck here because the traffic at the intersection is quite heavy. For some reason a lot of trucks use this exit too which just adds to the mess. I hate this place. It gets the two stars because it is the closest gas station to the airport. read more

My mother broke down this morning after dropping off family at the airport and pulled into the parking lot with a flat tire. She went in to ask for help only to be treated and spoken to very mean by the worker/owner. She asked for his help and because she was not purchasing his overpriced gas he continued to be extremely rude to her. She sat out in the car for over 2hrs waiting for a tow truck and when she went in to use the bathroom he told her NO. Seeing as how this gas station is right next to the car rental area at the DTW Airport, I'm not at all surprised that the prices here are wayyy higher than normal. It's a small, crowded spot. I recommend filling up your rental at the last gas station exit coming from 696. Normal pricing and the distance between that exit and the car return area is negligible in terms of fuel. read more

I'm not surprised that gas is a good .60 cents higher here than in, say, Ann Arbor where we stayed. This is right across the street from the rental cars for the airport. It's convenience. Right now, gas is $4.09 for unleaded, which honestly is the same price in Seattle. No sticker shock here to us. We also must have hit the slow time (mid-afternoon on a Monday) to return the rental so getting a pump was no problemo. High priced gas. Cigarette priced as if they were in New York. They're the only gas station at the same exit as the car rental return sites for the airport, so you pay the price for the convenience. If you work in the area and want to pickup a snack or something, go down to the station further north on middlebelt. It's only a mile or so. read more
