Once work was scheduled, they were very prompt and clean. There were a lot of guys between electricians and HVAC and they did a relatively quick job. I only had 1 weird thing happen. After install, they let me know that they needed to set the thermostat to have the back up heat come on at 35 degrees but after the Massave inspection they would come back and turn it down. I was dragging my feet on the Massave paperwork a bit until I got my first electric bill for $800! I contacted Massave to get them out for the inspection, but they told me they don't do an inspection and also don't recommend the setting the technicians told me were necessary and contributed to my huge bill. I informed Essex County Craftsman and they told me they would get back to me. I never heard back so I figured out how to do it myself. Still not sure if I chose the appropriate temperatures for my system but I just can't have another bill that high. It sounds like the communication between Massave and authorized technicians is not great and I hope this improves.

The tech showed up at 2:30PM, and issued a 'sorry, I'm late' upon entering. No reason for being 3 1/2 hours late and no prior phone call to inform me he was running behind schedule. He was let in, performed his so-called HVAC maintenance and was out within 15 minutes. I was disappointed with the lack of 'maintenance' that was actually done. He handed me a printout telling me my CO levels were 8% and that low number was good, again, without explanation. No cleaning out the unit, no changing the filter, not much 'maintenance' was actually performed. Cost of 15 minute in out service -- $225. I would not recommend this unprofessional company for HVAC service. Please look elsewhere for your HVAC needs.

If I hadn't shown my shock, I likely would have paid the full $850. The work itself was fine, and the technician was polite, but the price was outrageous. The national average for this job is $375-$450, and even in Massachusetts, the high end is about $575. I paid $700. I later learned that Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks is owned by Sila Services, backed by Goldman Sachs. This corporate structure adds overhead and drives up prices for customers. I thought I was hiring a local company, but I was wrong -- this is part of a multi-owner corporate platform. After reading other Yelp reviews, it's clear my experience was not unique. I wish I had read them first. If you want reasonably priced plumbing, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a genuinely local company.

Last year they warned us that our refrigerant was obsolete, and if anything major failed, we'd need to replace the entire system (coil + pan + outdoor unit). Their estimate was around $15k, which is a huge, life-changing expense for most households. The breaking point came when they quoted $1k just to replace a kitchen faucet. We ended up doing it ourselves. On top of that, yearly maintenance and repairs were consistently costing us $500+. When our AC started leaking (caught by Ring sensors), I had to look for alternatives. I had tried before but hadn't found anyone reliable, so I gave Thumbtack another shot despite past poor experiences--many vendors talked a lot, quoted high, and didn't seem focused on actually solving the problem. Some even lacked proper licensing. That's when I found Noble. They handle plumbing, duct cleaning, and HVAC. Their $89 visit fee was more reasonable than others. They performed initial HVAC maintenance and replaced an aging condensate pump, but when the leak continued, they came back at no extra charge to investigate further. They identified a crack in the drain pan under the coil. I confirmed this myself when they demonstrated how water leaked directly through the pan, and later when the removed part clearly showed the crack. Since they're a smaller company, I was cautious about making such a large payment. They addressed this by providing ID, company registration details (which I verified through the MA corporate database), and accepting credit card payments for added protection. The equipment arrived on schedule within two days. On installation day, they first completed a thorough duct cleaning using a vacuum system, brushes, and cameras, and shared before-and-after photos. There was a noticeable amount of buildup, so this was valuable. The HVAC installation itself was complex since our furnace is about 10 years old while the new AC system is modern. They even sourced an additional control board the same day to make everything compatible.
