If you're coming from the east, sometimes you have to wait just to cross the traffic to get into the station. I like the place because the prices are among the lower ones around (but not the lowest) and it's super convenient for me. Nevermind that sometimes all of the pumps are filled and you have to wait to fill up! I don't really shop here for much, but I've found it's an adequate place for jerky when I get that craving, hot dogs, drinks, washer fluid and even okay prices on mulch. They sell lottery tickets, too. The Speedy Rewards card is a great way to earn points for all of your purchases there. I've been using my card and accumulated enough points to basically pay for any small sundry item I might occasionally pick up.

On this Speedway trip I was heading to the Milwaukee area to catch the Red Bull event. It's conveniently located off the highway. I think the hidden gem of this place is the gas pumps behind the building. I even tried out the new Laredo Tacos that are replacing most of the Speedy Cafe's. Their breakfast tacos aren't bad but the quality compares to hotel breakfast food. I will say the shelves are stocked. Staff is sub par, bathrooms are fair. Not the best location but it is convenient at least!

The gas was priced @ $284.9/gallon. FYI Shell Gas has always been my Number 1 preferred Option, but because of the huge price discrepancy I use Costco Gas. In this case it was 10 cents less then the Costco in Niles @ $294.9/gallon. Typically Costco runs 20-30 cents less then the other gas stations. The difference being one gas station is in CROOK County and the other is in Lake County. Anywho I gassed up my car at Shell in Lake County and saved a few bucks.

I've been using this Shell gas stations car wash for years and pretty happy with the results…read more My disappointment on Monday is with the owner of this Shell station. I pulled my SUV into the car wash, paid and hit the start button. Nothing turned on. I waited a few seconds and pressed the start, again. Nothing. So I then pressed the "help" button on the machine. Explained that I was stuck in the wash. The Indian man did not seem to understand and just hung up on me. So I waited hoping some one would come. But no one showed up. So I pressed the "help" button again. Same man answered, asking me "what?" As I tried to explain he just said "I will help" and hung up. But no one came... going on 15 minutes now I'm still in this thing with the garage door down. I try to back out but the door didn't move. I pressed the"help" again and this time told them I was calling 911 to get me out!! Of corse a guy came then, but it wasn't even a gas station employee. It was the chicken cook from a next door restaurant. He was talking to the owner on his cell trying to get the car wash to work... I said just get me out of here and give me my money back. In the end the chicken man said the car wash was broke "no kidding" and I should go in to get my money back. I wanted to scream at the manager for ignoring my calls for help and leaving me in there for 20-30 minutes. But they said he wasn't in. That's BS!! The chicken man said sorry and the cashier gave me a car wash code for a 8 dollar wash. Wow !! All that and they couldn't even upgrade me to a 12 dollar wash. TERRIBLE customer service!!! I should of called the police. Creepy and unprofessional people work there. I wish I could give it no stars.

The old man at the counter gave me a ticket for another similar car wash and said it's good for a year. The date of expiry was 30 days. So I went back to the cashier where I paid and told the manager (I think) that I was not able to press anything then the machine said "thanks for shopping with us!" But I didn't get any gas in at all. Then he said he would put in $5 for the different number section. So I went to put gas in but why did I get $5 when I paid for $10? After I went to get the car wash, I went back in again because maybe there was some misunderstanding. I told him maybe he misunderstood me and I misunderstood him since I'm hard of hearing. And he yelled at me saying that I owed him $5. I don't understand why I owed him $5 when I paid $10 and only got $5 worth of gas! I'm not happy with this especially with him yelling at me in front of other customers behind me. Very rude and I won't be coming back again.
