Incompetent Liars - wish I could give them negative stars.
They cannot Auto re-fill your regular prescriptions (don't let them lie to you). They don't know how to use insurance (and will lie and tell you the price you're paying is with your insurance factored in when it's not). They also typically do not notify you when an Rx is ready.
When I started going there about a year ago, I was surprised that I had to pay for my prescriptions (with my insurance (Aetna), my Rx's should be fully covered). Every single time, I would ask the pharmacist if that was the price after using my insurance, and they would look at the computer for a minute and then say Yes.
Months later, I asked the same question to a different pharmacy staff member, and she checked the system and said they didn't even have my insurance information on file! That was shocking, since I had been going there for months and had been assured each time that they had utilized my insurance. I provided the information and that was the only time my prescription was free.
After that, I stopped going there for my regular prescriptions due to the frustration of having been lied to and wasted money. I now only go there for one-off prescriptions (b/c it's the closest to where I live). However, I always end up paying for the prescription (when I'm pretty sure they should be free or very cheap).
I am now unemployed, and not in a position to be paying for prescriptions that should be free, so when I recently had a one-off prescription to fill and it came to $15, I asked (yet again) if that was the price with my insurance factored in. They checked and told me my insurance requires pre-authorization, which could take days. I said ok, I'll wait. They said they submitted the pre-auth to my insurance company, and called a few days later telling me to come pick up my Rx.
I went in and the price had come down from $15 to $12, but still wasn't free. I needed the Rx at that point so I paid for it.
Today, I looked on my insurance company website to review the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to understand why the Rx was not fully covered. There was no record of that prescription. I called Boyt's to ask when they submitted it to my insurance and what the claim number was. They checked the system and said the pre-authorization had been rejected. Why they did not tell me that when it happened is utterly beyond my comprehension.
So how did the price come down from $15 to $12? Apparently, Boyt's has their own insurance program called GSPO which slightly reduces the prescription cost, and that is apparently what they used.
Why would they tell me my insurance pre-authorization was approved and I should come pick up my Rx? Why did they decide to use their GSPO program instead of my insurance without telling me?
The phone representative from Boyt's told me Today that they are not responsible for insurance pre-authorizations, and that is between me and my doctor. If they had told me that at the time, I would have reached out to my insurance company and/or my doctor.
And this is just the most recent issue. I can't even tell you the number of times I've asked them to put my prescriptions on Auto-refill, they said they did, and then did not auto-refill my Rx.
I am Beyond frustrated and beyond Finished with Boyt's drug store. They are incompetent liars that should not be trusted - especially with one's health. read more
