As background, a year or so before that, my husband had bought some hair trimming tools just to save a few trips to the quick-haircut type places, which were fine but nothing special. We are in our late twenties, work long hours, always busy, so that just seemed more efficient. But now that he's found this barbershop, he is actually going fir haircuts regularly! About this shop, I should say: it really is old-fashioned, and not just for looks or ironically. The decor is real antiques and the place probably hasn't changed in decades (except to get a credit card machine, thank goodness for us). And it's kind of nice to step back in time, especially at a barber shop! Here, after the haircut they slather the back of the neck in shaving cream and use a real razor to clean it up. Similarly, they do an old fashioned facial shave that my husband raves about. Despite these old fashioned methods, the haircuts here are actually quicker than most places (I know, because I am usually sitting there waiting for him). He has always walked in and gotten a chair right away. I think it's been the same 3 barbers (2 men, 1 woman) the entire last year. He's gotten his hair cut by all three, but he does have a favorite that tells funny stories. Anyway, definitely be prepared for an authentically old-fashioned barber shop, but give it a chance if that type of thing appeals to you. It's worth it!

However, the fade I received is the most uneven fade I've ever received in my life. Not to mention, my beard is also a mess and has no clean lines. However, I am now at a second barbershop in an attempt to fix the first cut from this place. I don't like to leave poor reviews but this is inexcusable.

Imagine my surprise when, after finding it nearby on Yelp and getting a quick phone confirmation they could take a walk in, I open the door to find about 7 ladies, all senior citizens, getting their hair did or reading with their heads in those dryer thingies. But I was committed at that point - so I stayed. The haircut was subpar as far as men's haircuts go though I've had worse. There are some patches thinner than others and my hair now sticks up in random places. It'll grow out, right? Oddly, it was very expensive...$25. Plus they don't take credit cards so I had to scrounge up cash.

I am fascinated by his stories regarding his children, his own childhood in rural Oklahoma, and his young adulthood working oil rigs in Utah. His barber shop isn't much to look at, really. It appears that the store has been there a while, so don't expect a brand new franchise with sparkling mirrors. However, the equipment they use is very much up-to-date if not brand new. I could tell that Bill takes his job very seriously when I had my first haircut with him. He does not simply use clippers and the trimmer all over the place; rather, he uses his specialized tools to achieve the desired results, and he takes the time to tell his customers exactly what he is doing. He also takes his time with each customer. I believe he spends about 40-45 minutes cutting my hair, and I consider my haircut to be simple. He also understands that business about building relationships more than simply delivering a product. The first time he cut my hair, he asked me what I did for a living. When I explained that I was looking for work at the time, he told me, "Your haircut is free today. You'll come back when you get a job." He would not take my money that day, even after I told him that I appreciated the gesture but didn't need his charity. It was my first time there! He didn't know me from Adam, but he was giving his services away to me. Who else would do that these days? He still won't take my money from that first haircut, even though I have returned after finding new employment. He calls it "advertising," but I suppose I would call it "selflessness." I suggest setting an appointment before arriving for a haircut. Even though office hours are posted on the door, he runs a small operation, so there is no guarantee that anyone will be there during open times. However, he will go out of his way to meet you there early if you call ahead. He doesn't try to sell any hair gel or other salon products, but he will try to sell some Melaleuca. I enjoy getting my haircut by Bill.
