He began doing smaller jobs for me - stripping and sealing stairs, painting rooms and troubleshooting a temperamental oven - and ended up putting my upstairs together after mold remediators demolished much of it. TJ and his crew put up walls, rebuilt window frames, added trim, hung lights, tiled my shower (beautifully!), built a linen closet, added an attic platform and a pull-down staircase and even built an oak vanity to fit my small bathroom. For years I'd deferred much of this work because I knew no one truly capable of or interested in dealing with such a wide variety of issues/tasks. Once I found TJ and realized how versatile, capable and meticulous he was, I had him do just about everything. My house is now shipshape. TJ takes much pride in doing a thorough and beautiful job. It isn't easy getting crown up on the ceiling of a 32 year old not so straight house, and my rooms look fab. I recommend Scott's work, and do not do so lightly. There are many idiots out there who think that because they bought a toolbox at "Toys r Us" they are a contractor. Watch for the bad guys, and cherish the good ones. Being a renovation junky, you may find this handy dude hard to book, because he is at my house, but try your luck. By the way... my dear old Dad always divided his customers into two types of people... the ones who made sure he was fed and watered and those who didn't offer. Approximately 80 to 90% of the flooring supplied had major defects. sales rep at Exotic Stonewood…read moreflooring inspected and agreed the flooring has many defects, but the owner refused to return the product. The flooring had major flaws causing wasted production time and a rejection of more than half the shipment. On June 12th we purchased 2500 square feet of jatoba flooring. The flooring was a custom colour and had to be manufactured after we paid the full amount. Our professional flooring installer came August 31st to lay down the floor for the 2nd floor starting in the master bedroom and hallway. He proceeded to lay down the floor and found numerous defects in the wood finish. In addition, he found multiple boards where the factory cut ends were not square. Cuts were often 1/8 inch off over seven inches. The installer had never seen any shipment of flooring with more than a 5% rejection rate. The rejection rate here was in the range of almost 90%. you might get one or two boards out of the whole box The saleswomen at (ESF) was called at this point. she sent an inspector to see all the defect and agreed that the wood never should have been shipped. He advised that we try to finish the 2nd floor with the flooring meant for three floors, and any extra time our installer had to spend would be compensated directly by ESF. they informed us, our contractor, and our installer he would send a new shipment to replace all the deficient material. We had to spend approximately two days of our time opening boxes in search of flooring without defects including have to use a square to check every board end. When the 2nd floor was done we also noted that the floor boards often did not have the same height, a problem caused by the tongue and grooves not being manufactured consistently. Given the high rejection rate of the first shipment we let them know that we would need around 1000 to 1500 square feet more flooring to ensure we had enough to complete the main floor. when we called back the store we just got no answer and they refused to help us at all and since we opened all the boxes to finish 800 sqft they wouldn't return anything that has been open and every time we call they reply by FU*K OFF and go to court currently we are pursuing legal help to sue them i don't recommend you to buy anything from this store

Words really cannot…read moredescribe how grateful we are to Goldcon - but since this is a Google review, I will try my best to paint a picture of how we worked together. Prior to selecting Goldcon, we had interviewed about 15 contractors. All of them were great sales people, they all sounded like they knew what they were doing, so narrowing it down was difficult. We eventually got it down to 3 companies (Goldcon and 2 others) and signed up to a design document with 1 of them that was not Goldcon. Typically in construction the contractors will charge a "Cost Plus" model or a "Fixed Price". For fixed price, you need to have a perfectly crafted scoping document so you know exactly what you are paying for. For "Cost Plus" you are paying a percentage on top of the cost of the project. Virtually all the contractors wanted to use a Cost Plus Model given all the uncertainties with supplies and labour. I just didn't like this idea because it didn't feel like the contractors would make an effort to negotiate the best price for us. Goldcon was one of the only contractors that was willing to do a fixed price for the build - but they were concerned that we would need to submit a variety of change orders if the supplies that we had chosen were out of stock. So we decided to settle on a fixed management fee and pay Goldcon in installments that were tied to milestones reached. As soon as we signed on the dotted lines, they got to work. And they worked fast. Trades were organized extremely efficiently, one after another. Multiple quotes were presented to us for each trade and they often were able to get their existing partners to match prices of lower price suppliers. Design ideas were brought to the table and discussed at length, but very quickly and efficiently. Communication was effortless, we setup a WhatsApp group and kept a history of all the things we discussed. When we had a difference of opinion, they always reverted back to "It's your house, you have whatever you like, but we just think XYZ would make the most sense". This was reassuring to us and most of the times we ended up going with their suggestions and it paid off. At no point in the process did we feel like we were being bullied into doing something or were we uncomfortable with the process. So overall, there are 100's of reasons to choose Goldcon and ZERO reasons to work with someone else. If you are looking for a builder for a new house or to do a larger renovation, Goldcon is the only company that I would recommend. The carpet in the apartment was really old and the bathroom needed a new vanity. Kaveh helped me pick out the laminate flooring that would look good and that I didn't have to spend and arm and leg to get. They quickly took out the disgusting old carpet and installed the new flooring which looks great. Second, they took out the old rusted vanity and added a new vanity which really makes my fiancé happy. I love coming to a home which I can be comfortable in and a home that looks good.
