And this summer, when we stopped in Jackson on our trip to California, my boys demanded that we allow time for the rock climbing wall. So, after lunch, we did. It's more of a boulder replica than a rock wall but very significant with lots of options for climbing to the top of this 8-10 foot man-made 'boulder' that's approximately 40 feet by 10 feet. Numerous handholds. This is a serious challenge. I don't know much about rock climbing or bouldering and that will be evident in this description. Neither do my boys. All I know is that they love this feature of this park in Jackson, and I've never seen anything else like it anywhere in America.

We spent the morning driving around and stop at various view points to take pictures. I feel like you can capture the mountain range from every angle. Grand Teton is well known for dramatic mountains and peaceful trails. I recommend going to Jenny Lake. The view is like a perfect photo. It was really windy and cold the day we visited so we didn't walk as far as we like. We also did the Snake River Float to take in the spectacular views while floating down snake river slowly. I'll write a separate review for the Float experience.

It is one of my absolute favorites,…read moregiven the beauty alone but also the accessibility, proximity to a fun town (Jackson) etc. The airport actually is within the national park (only park that has this feature), so if you land on a clear day you get a STUNNING view of the Tetons mountain range just to the west. Jackson is a 20ish min drive away, or if you go north toward Yellowstone you can pass along the scenic byway and stop along any of the turnouts for INCREDIBLE pictures, including the famous Mormon row. Go into the park toward Jenny lake for some of the most iconic spots, or a solid hike. Delta lake is a hard hike but it's STUNNING, and of course the hike +- the boat ride across Jenny lake to Cascade canyon and hidden falls is as stunning as they come. Oxbow bend is gorgeous for views and chilling too, and I saw folks fishing over in that area. Be aware that the lot at Jenny lake gets INSANELY full despite the fact that it is MASSIVE and has an overflow area, just cause the park is so popular. It is absolutely worth it. Do not miss this park - it lives rent free in my head and every time the weather is good outside I think about hiking in the Tetons!

We wanted to catch the town square shootout they put on every evening. Very cute little show that lasts maybe about 15 minutes. They sell some drinks and snacks as a fundraiser as well. We stopped in Lander, Wyoming for a few days, so we decided to check out the Sinks Canyon State…read morePark. Good decision! Sinks Canyon is so named because of a rushing river that flows out of the mountains and through the canyon. Halfway down, the river turns (sinks) into a cavern and runs underground for 1/4 mile where it emerges in a pool called "The Rise". In the Rise there are Rainbow and Brown trout; the larger ones may weigh up to 12 lbs, but NO FISHING! For a quarter you can buy fish food to feed the fish, which is fun for everyone. A must-do if you are in the area! Also check out the Visitor Center. It is small, but is one of the best I've seen, and I've seen many. The wildlife is well displayed; and I loved the wildflower displays. The geologic rocks outside the visitor center are also A+. Well done, absolutely 5 stars.
