Myles was an incredible instructor with immaculate vibes; he had such great energy and played a fantastic playlist along with providing greats cues all throughout class. I wanted to keep going and actually could not believe the 45 minute class went by so fast. Myles made it so fun that I wanted to keep going! The studio is super clean, front desk staff very friendly and welcoming and overall I can't recommend this studio enough! Def check it out if you are in the LA area - you will leave feeling amazing and like you can conquer the world!

I love me some BoxUnion! Sometimes all you need is a good crew surrounding you, a bag to punch, a dark room filled with tons of energy, and a good beat to match each punch when glove meets the bag. This studio just had their Grand Opening this past weekend, this is their 2nd location-- the first location being in Santa Monica. Lets get to the details: Parking: 75 minutes free with validation in the Robertson Plaza on level P2. There is also a 2 hour free structure across the street at 123 S Robertson Blvd. As well as meter parking up and down the street. Location: In the Robertson Plaza Studio: There is a raised stage area for the instructor in the middle of the room and boxing bags on both sides of the stage. I believe there are 40 bags. Each person gets their own bag that has a towel on it, as well as weights under. Workout: its not just a boxing class, it is so much more. For our class we started off without the gloves getting to understand the basic moves as well as warming up the body with some jumping jacks, fast feet, squats etc, and then putting the combos together. Then we did some of the moves with the weights, then it was glove time. Each move, each punch, matched the beat of the music. We also did some ab work near the end of the workout. For our class we had Jon as our insructor and his energy was electric. He was clear in what moves we were doing, he was encouraging, and his pacing was perfect. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, you are able to get a great workout no matter what! Honestly, I was a sweaty mess when class ended--- in a good way :) Amenities: Has a good size waiting area with a few benches as you get wrapped up before class. Plenty of lockers available to put your belongings. Bathrooms and showers clean and fully stocked with whatever you need (dry shampoo is my boo after the sweat sesh that is bound to happen). A water dispenser near the bathroom, dont forget to bring your water bottle with you. Front desk to check you in for class, answer any questions you may have and get you gloves and wraps if you need them. There is nothing bad I can say about this studio. It was an incredible workout! You cant help but feel like a badass after spending that time punching the bag! Also, the staff was incredibly nice and welcoming-- can't go wrong with that! Can't wait to come back!

An incredible community that uplifts your life beyond exercise. I took my first class about 6 months ago with Chelsea and have fallen in love with this place ever since. BoxUnion represents a movement toward something bigger than themselves. The staff and the coaches are so encouraging and motivating. Each 45 minute session is a network of HIIT and boxing combinations. Definitely suited for advanced, intermediate, or first timers! A MUST try! Pro-Tip: Arrive 30 mins early to allow yourself time to check in and setup before class! Additionally, free parking is available with validation!

The lady at the front desk refused to let me in even though I had signed the waiver beforehand, had all my own equipment and explained I had just driven a long distance to get there. She wouldn't budge. She said it was a "safety issue" which is a joke -- it's a glorified dance class with free weights, so it's not like you're using a Reformer or in a heated room where extra precautions may be warranted. Regardless, I already signed the waiver! To add insult to injury, another student had checked in right before me and was putting her items away in the lockers as we were having this discussion, so obviously was able to go in late. The rigidness of this policy and the associate's attitude was so off-putting that I won't be going back. Who knew being 2 minutes late would cost me $22 in ClassPass credits, an additional late fee and 45 minutes of unnecessary driving. Way to ruin a morning!

I started going to AKT WEHO in December of 21, I signed up on a 3 month commitment plan. $99 the first month, followed by two months of $159 You get first month unlimited, followed by 8 classes a month - All seemed great and lovely, i used the app which is super easy to set up. I started going twice a week and honestly - it was great. The space is clean, the people are friendly. It was a great experience! However, when I had covid and wanted to cancel my membership as my schedule at work changed I was dealt with poorly to say the least. I reached out via email to notify them that i no longer wanted to continue - The manager Brian decided that he'd try to sway my mind. Which i explained that I did not want to do - Instead of cancelling - he charged me a further two months of $159 I went back and forth many times with him via email, however he was rude and ignored me many times - and to this day refuses to refund. I would highly recommend AKT but not the weho location mainly because (from my experience) the manager Brian is money hungry & rude -  if this didn't happen i would probably have come back in a few month once things settled down.

I'll be the first to admit i'm not a dancer, which is why I took the HTB (Hips Thighs and Buns)…read moreclass, instead of the Full Body class. I figured the Full Body class would mostly be dancing of some sort. This class was a combination of mat work and dance cardio (with lots of jumping, so high impact). It's one of those classes that you have to come often to figure out the routine. I was the only new comer in the class and it was pretty obvious, which was okay. I didn't find it awkward. Instructor and receptionist: I didn't catch the receptionists name when I entered, but he was really friendly and made me feel welcomed, which I appreciated a lot. I had Lauren as an instructor, she was very personable and friendly. She has a great attitude, did all the moves and was able to help correct my form. The only comment I would like to add was that the music was too loud at times to hear what she was saying (or maybe that's how the class is designed...?) The studio: It's a cute, clean studio with showers in the top level. I really appreciate them having showers, because it seems like it's very difficult to find a boutique studio that offers showers, even though you pay about $30 per class. I thought the shower situation was a little awkward. There are two showers in the same small room with a washer and dryer. After class, two of us showered, but I waited until the other person showered (I didn't feel comfortable showering next to someone else with no shower curtain, only clear doors). Parking: we all know that parking in WeHo is impossible and expensive, but they recommend a lot about a block away with parking being free the first hour. I ended up paying $3 though because it took me about an hour and twenty minutes. Overall, if you like high impact work like jumping and dancing I think you would enjoy this place.

I did a Trampoline Cardio class and it was so much fun. Amazing workout, really fun and a great sweat.

His method of movement and instruction is high energy, intense postures with fluidity, and a bit of cardio to get the heart moving. I loved that he made us take water breaks, but not enough to bring the heart rate down. His dance breaks kept the energy up when I thought I might give up. It is a class to attend and he is amazing. My second class was on Monday. The structure and outline of the Ali's 5:15 pm Mat Pilates class was great. It's my first time for any Pilates class and I think this was closer to the traditional with a little yoga and cardio. It was intense and strong. The only thing I would have liked would have been alternative moves for newbies in class for some of the more intense plank work with lots of movement. I just did downward dog with a little walk or knee movement or stayed in plank, if possible. But I wasn't sure if that was correct to do in the alternative or if there was another move I could have done. A verbal confirmation or suggestion would have been great. She definitely knows the body and how to push it to the max level of tuning. I will take her class again, but I feel like I have to research some of the yoga/pilates terms to know what position she is talking about. She's an excellent teacher for higher levels. Romi is such a great instructor: her transitions are smooth and she gives a lot of instruction about where you should be feeling the workout and the placement of your feet. There wasn't a lot of room in the class so it would have been great if Stephanie moved off to the side and let the students watch their form in the mirror. I think it also would have been great if she provided more descriptive detail - "jump here" doesn't tell me what foot goes in front of which foot or where I should feel it. Seriously though, I'll break it down: I signed up through Classpass and honestly was just like sure whatever it's a ballet inspired cardio class. Got to the studio, it's...not really that nice. Not dirty or anything, but just nothing to write home about. They have tea and water and some black apparel and random pointe shoes everywhere (god knows why). The front desk girl showed me around the studio after apologizing for assuming I wasn't using my real name(???) and there's no door to the actual studio so you just kind of mosey back. Class was pretty full and the dancer that was teaching (super fit, definitely a trained dancer, NOT. AN. INSTRUCTOR) didn't introduce herself or ask anyone's names. Jumped right into some pretty basic ballet routines if you have a background, but if you don't -- godspeed. At no point did she go around, provide corrections or modifications, which is why I say she was not an instructor. After a couple uninspired, repetitive floor routines to upbeat pop music, the trampolines came out. Trampolines. We were doing ballet choreography...to top 40 hits...on trampolines. The dancer that was teaching didn't have a trampoline though, so she just showed us the gist on the floor. I can't make this up. It was just...honestly....awful. Please go somewhere else and get real instruction by a trained professional to get after that body you want. If you want to try ballet, take a real ballet class.
