What an eclectic, fun range of vintage and antiques they have! We thought we'd check out their new location, and wasn't disappointed! There's the main floor - and don't forget the basement level! From the standard Coca Cola collectibles and Elvis, to kitchenware of days past, military regalia to porcelain figurines they've got something for everyone! We will definitely come back to check out new inventory! read more

Carol Riggan followed her dream and opened up the Washington location on December 10th, 2016. Jodie Schimke joined Carol as a vendor displaying items from Circle S Creations. The passion they shared, hours spent and visions for the future soon lead to a partnership. As entrepreneur's and co-owners Carol & Jodie strive to give local vendors a positive, fun, family atmosphere to show and sell treasures of Antiques, Crafts & Collectibles. We are proud to offer vendor booth rental and consignment options are also available. Stop in for a blast from the past of items from yesteryear, crafts of recycled, reused, re-purposed and collectibles ~ like furniture, figurines, kitchen items, man cave tools & treasures, Fenton, Roseville, Hall & much, much more!

History

Established in 2016.

We began in Washington with 2500 Square foot with approximately 60 vendors. Today, we have grown to double that size at our Washington store with over 5000 square foot of treasures. Ainsworth opened in June of 2017, adding 1800 square foot of space right next to the gas station, called the Ainsworth Four Corners. We have continued to grow to over 300 vendors who offer a eclectic mix of antiques, crafts & collectibles. . There is something for everyone!

Meet the Business Owner: Carol R.

Carol Riggan and Jodie Schimke are owners of Boxcar Treasures. Carol grew up in a small town called Richland, Iowa. Her father had a passion for antiques, and her mother always enjoyed the garage sale bargains and thrift shops. After going to a classmate's parent's auction the fall of 2015, Carol realized what I was missing over the years as a child growing up. The joy turned into a wonderful business venture called Boxcar Treasures!

The new trees were planted just as Marm had described the plant procedure before I actually purchased them. I had them planted in middle of September, then I watered them as they recommended. Now this year the both trees are very healthy and doing great! I am very satisfied with my new trees and Rose of Sharon bush, too. Their prices were very competitive with other Iowa City Landscape companies! I would recommend this company based on their straight forward and honest way of doing business.

If you are interested in music it is necessary to ask the owner for the organization method in order to find what you are looking for. Do bring cash. Cards are not accepted. Prices are fair. You can get better at a yard sale, but have to spend a long time looking. You are spend much more at a dedicated record store and get better organizing and renewed sleeves. I would got back.

I think the front bagged stuff was a good selection but I can't pay those prices when discogs and eBay exist. I have an ultrasonic and returns are guaranteed online. I'll gamble online before paying $30 for a record I've seen elsewhere for $5-10. Plus most good albums have been reissued at about $20. Some people may want an OG copy, I don't get paying more than the reissue price for a used OG record that looks eh.... Now the stuff in back had some good stuff too, but it should have been $5 a record and I'd have bought a bunch, they're just not worth $10 for common stuff. I don't need to fill out my collection that much, and nothing was rare or uncommon really. I managed to find a couple things I was ok with buying, was eventually helped at the counter, and was then told they only take cash. Who carries cash? I'm not 60..... cards are everything these days. So I wasted a half hour to an hour browsing through overpriced records just to be turned away. I could have found an ATM, but I'm out of town. So we tack an ATM fee on to the overpriced records too? Nah, didn't feel like it, so drove back to my hotel in Cedar Rapids... If you need decent copies of mostly basic albums (classics) with the occasional gem or underpriced record, come here with a lot of time, and cash only. Moral of this story? A question - You talked my ear off when I arrived but mentioned nothing of cash only? Waste of both our time.
