At Home Store Fairfield - I purchased two kitchen towels this week online. From time of order the store effectively and consistently emailed the status. This store is a wonderful sensory adventure...especially if you are a kitchen gadget nut, like myself. I can't walk out of this place emtpy-handed because of the beautiful baubles they have to make me feel like a gourmet chef. I also absolutely adore the gorgeous knitting/crocheting supplies in the back half of the story. it is visually an adventure to take in all of the rich colors and textures. I always hit up the At Home store when I'm in town. I remember growing up in Fairfield in the 80's, we had some neat stores on the 'Square.' Then Wal-Mart moved to town and all the stores pretty much closed up. Fortunately, some great little shops like the At Home store have moved in, making the Fairfield square feel a lot like a little neighborhood in a big city. This shop has delicious knitting materials, gorgeous Burleigh English dishes, and eclectic cooking gadgets. It's especially fun around Christmas time when it has a very European-holiday feel. The buyer(s) for the store have very good taste ~ I especially love the small stationery selection! It feels somewhat pricey at times, but I think supporting shops like this in Fairfield makes it worth the cost. Note: Last time I tried to go here on a Sunday and it was closed. Seemed the whole square is now closed on Sundays. read more

I absolutely LOVE this store!!!! When ever I go to Fairfield, IA to see my family and friends this store is on the top of my list of things to do. :) Every item in the store I want to own, every thing is so colorful and bright I always feel happy when I'm shopping for something. Great little gourmet kitchen store. Think Williams-Sonoma but small town independent. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the selection of items will have you browsing for an hour. Excellent place to buy gifts or kitchen ware for yourself that you will use a lifetime. read more

They have very nice wares that you normally don't find in small town Iowa. European food imports, yarn from local sheep ranches, toys, children's books, scented soap, beeswax candles, etc. The owner offered me gift wrapping for my purchases and she did the nicest job I have yet to see from a store. read more

Rosie and the staff are excellent. She knows her stuff and are very friend. They have a wide assortment of goods, especially for a small town. If you're running through town or a local looking for a gift for your favorite chef or knitter, stop on by. I got a couple of Global brand knives from the shop for Christmas and exchanged one. I'm glad we took the time to talk to Rosie because she told us the brand really suggests their wet-stone style sharpener. I got it home and I couldn't be happier! I've always been reluctant to get a wet-stone, but the hand-held piece with set angles is great. read more

At Home is the kind of shop that makes you feel so good that you find yourself finding excuses to go in. The products are great. Like someone else has done the shopping and anything you lay your hands on is something definitely worth having. The people are the real reason you want to be there, so you find a parking spot and trust something will just need to be purchased, to create your cover story. read more

Like Miles, I'm biased too since the owner is the mom of my two nieces and two nephews! And my brother's company, The Sky Factory, created the ceiling too. Every time I visit Fairfield, I always stop in to the shop! There are so many wonderful things and the shop is so friendly and homey--pun intended! I'm NOT related to the owner so I'm not biased! This is a great store, especially for a small midwestern town. I'd expect to see a store like this in a east or west coast city. Great products, from foodstuffs to dishes, all sorts of kitchen stuff, gifts and toys. I'm not into knitting but I love to see the ladies (and occasional guy) all sitting in a group knitting and having a fun time when I visit there. The atmosphere is festive and wonderful, a must place to go if you visit Fairfield. read more

The At Home store has a wonderful yarn selection in the back. It's a full fledged LYS (local yarn shop.) The staff is fabulous. It's my favorite store and I look for excuses to go in and buy something. read more
