However, during my last visit, there was a new employee who I felt was unreasonably and disproportionately rude. I wanted a figurine behind a glass wall, and when he unlocked it, I reached toward the one I was going to purchase. This made him extremely upset with me and he made passive aggressive comments like I was trying to steal or something, when I really didn't think I was too unreasonable. I also wanted to buy a couple mini figures that I put up on the counter to pay for, and I guess he didn't ring them up or something, because when I left the store with everything I THOUGHT I purchased, he screamed after me, took them out of my hand saying "Those aren't free!" and took zero accountability on his end for the mistake. Alas, Bartertown Toys. They're open 11-7pm, on the daily. Bartertown Toys and Collectibles, started as a pop-up store last December. It sells toys, collectibles, and comic books. As I walked in on a Friday afternoon my six-year-old was wide eyed. Staring gleefully at action figures, Star Wars paraphernalia, Sega and Nintendo games. Oh my gosh and comic books. My daughter also enjoyed the my little ponies and other treasures. There's something for everyone. If you're struggling with what to get a (big or) little kid in your life-- Bartertown Toys is the place to go.

This women-owned biz is no exception. I became of a fan of Heim from afar. Allison Fretheim is pretty hilarious on Instagram. She's relatable, silly, and unapologetically herself. (Plus, her dog is totes the cutest.) Heim is a wonderfully curated shop of her stunning mystical ceramics along with her favorite spiritual goods. Crystals, incense, tarot cards, candles, spell kits... so much witchy awesomeness... AND home decor. On Day 45 of social distancing I had exasperated my rescue pup search, knowing I darn well couldn't bring another four legged family member home. So I opted for the next best thing-- a cat! Ok, helllllz no. Just kidding. I decided on a PLANT(s). And Heim has some wonderful leafy companions to choose from. I opted for a Baby ZZ (sunlight is optional, low maintenance) and a cuuuuuute air plant. I went on the website, purchased via Apple Pay. Easy peasy. And guess what friends?! Free delivery in IC. I ordered at 730AM and it was delivered less than ten hours later. Boom. Heim is the epitome of a labor of love. It's uniquely a perfect spot to peruse for a gift locally. Conveniently located in the ped mall, near a parking ramp. (First hour free!) Shop intentionally. Local. Eco-friendly. Women-owned. Small biz. Hand made. Look no further than Heim!

If my memory serves me right, we walked out with about 9 CDs for less than $60.00 and they were wonderful additions to our library. We will definitely be back to feed our music habit

Unfortunately I didn't find an abnormal amount of Daptone, or any of the Daptone 7" records they're famous for. I was also hoping to find Daptone accessories and didn't see any, like the 45 rpm branded weights. However, it is a good store, I did find a new sealed record and a used record. I could have bought more, but the prices were a little high, and I owned most of the stuff, it didn't go too deep, lot of the basic popular stuff and modern stuff. One thing I saw was a lot of representation of local artists, which I really like and respect when a store helps their local scene. Staff were very friendly, and helpful. I overheard someone getting a recommendation and they were cared for well. Great store for the area, I'd stop in and check them out again if I were nearby.

It was the 2nd defective one with almost the same problem as the 1st one. My husband was the one that exchanged it for me & being the clueless man he is didn't notice the defect. I noticed it the second he got it home & we went to return it together same day as purchase. Selling defective merchandise with a refusal to allow it to be returned tells me all I need to know about how you do business so no thanks. The people who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. The prices tend to be reasonable, but occasionally I find some items to believe to be slightly overpriced. Remember prices are marked at time of the store's appraisal of the item before being placed on the floor, so it's price may not reflect current market value trends. Just keep that in mind when shopping here. All in all the over all prices are usually fair or a steal if you know your stuff and have an eye for what you're looking for.

However, the checkout process is where expectations fell very short. First, the device to remove the magnetic theft detection device on clothing didn't work so the associates spent 6-8 minutes try to pry it off with scissors. I was watching the entire time thinking they would damage the $110 pullover. They could tell I was concerned and said they had been having to take this approach all day. The woman at the register seemed annoyed when I was asking about it and alluded that I had a choice to return it or wait until they successfully removed it. They final removed the device with scissors and thankfully didn't damage the product as the few remaining pieces on the rack in my size showed scuffs/marks on them. My issues are mangement should have provided the sales associates with a working machine to remove the magnetic device. And the woman at the register should be much much more customer-centric.
