FYI This is coming from someone who has a prominent online card stores through Ebay, Mercari, and…read moreTCG player. I average a minimum 200 sales a month. I walked in there yesterday to check it out since i like to check stores and see how their prices are, how their staff operates, and the basic aesthetics of said store front. Spent a lot of time in retail environments because of my mother so these things are second nature to me For starters the layout is awful like a jumbled mess. Case for pokemon cards was hidden by a shelf in the back of the store. Zero supervision. Looked to be no cameras. I could have swiped that whole case and walked out since the staff there had one guy helping customers and the rest sitting on their phones. That's something big that should be addressed and i wonder how much inventory they have actually lost due to the incompetence or ignorance of the staff as a unit. After standing back there for about 5 to 10 mins i walked out of the store unnoticed then came back in and asked for assistance. Not so much as a welcome or a see you again but hard to do that when your nose deep in what i would guess are tiktok's/reels Anyways, I figured i'd buy what looked to be 3 damaged cards before the owner started throwing stock at me he hadn't even went through/priced yet while bragging about buying collections at or under 60% and later bragging on lowballing people on binders with expensive cards. This is why people don't like card shops 90% of these guys are out to screw you and want to live on these 40%+ profit margins and thats is why places like this FAIL after 5 years but that is besides the point. looking most of the case i can tell you it was LP-/MP/HP/DMG cards all listed at NM/PSA 7/8 prices for raw cards One of the damaged cards was a 1st edition he claimed was LP. Saw the dents on the back when he pulled them out of the case. The other 2 he couldn't hide the fact were damaged. Grabbed 4 cards from his stock that hadn't made it to the case or been looked at according to him and grabbed them for way under what they should have been in that condition I definitely overpaid on the 3 damaged cards but, for me personally, isnt a big deal since i have the means to do so and i always try to buy from every card shop i come by. Overall I would not buy TCG through this shop 100%. Staff looks to be very lazy. The layout, from a retail sense, is god awful and doesn't highlight whats hot right now nor funnels customers through the store with any consistent flow. The owner isn't as knowledgeable as he seems and could definitely improve in that aspect. There is potential but its gonna take said owner not employee lazy friends who sit on their phones and employing people with tangible assets and actual skills when it comes to floor planning and stocking/organizing.

Best place to buy Pokémon cards and the people are really nice and cool video game Selectionread more

I've been in dozens of comic book stores, and this was easily the worst experience I've had yet…read more When my brother and I visited, it was just a disaster. It doesn't particularly bother me that the store isn't in the most ideal location. I also don't care that the actual store is downstairs in a somewhat rundown building. Nor do I care that the place is dark, and a complete mess. Though, it would have been nice to know how the hell the place was actually organized. Where are the new comics? Back issues?! Are they all just thrown in together? Why can't I find anything? Also, why is the one and only employee ignoring the only customers in the store? Why is this employee so terribly lacking of any customer service skills that he won't say a word?! I'm standing at the counter, two feet away from him, and he still refuses to acknowledge me, when it's clear that I want to buy something. Really? 20 minutes go by, and the only employee in the store acts as if his only customers do not exist. How does this place stay in business?! Is this seriously the only comic book store in all of Dubuque? If the owner is "a recluse that is uncomfortable around others", then that's unfortunate. However, if you own a business, especially retail, you absolutely must do better than this. Or have someone else on staff that can actually do what's required to make some sales. There were two people in the store, trying to spend some money, but really weren't given the opportunity. We ended up just leaving, having not been treated with any respect, and without spending any money. And I don't think we'll be giving this place another chance. Extremely disappointing.

This location opened in the fall and I think we've been five times or so. The first few times just to browse, but the last couple of times for specific items (air mattress for example). You'll find something different each time you visit. It's like treasure hunting to dig through some of the shelves. I scored some limited edition Method brand hand soap on my first visit. Snagged as many as I could and paid less than half of what I would have at Target. Yes, I get excited about hand soap. A great place to go if you need guest items - I stock up on toothbrushes, body washes, things like that. They have non-perishable food/pantry items. No fresh food. Great place for baking supplies, spices, cereal, shelf-stable items if you aren't really picky about brand names. I would love to see the pet merchandise expanded upon, but they do have an aisles worth right now. Lots of things for the home like rugs, sheets, pillows, towels. Several aisles of toys and a huge area dedicated bargain books. Kitchen, automotive, electronics, office supplies, and seasonal also. While I love a bargain, some of the items at Ollie's are not. We did find an air mattress at Ollie's, but it was much less expensive to get one from Walmart. While their books are 'bargain' prices, I'm not sure they're less expensive than the big box stores. The price tags all have an 'ours' and 'theirs' price. Sometimes there isn't much of difference. I noticed this when buying Halloween candy. I signed up for their rewards program - Ollie's Army. It's easy join and use and you get a coupon for joining. Sign up for their weekly emails, too. The company did a really nice job upgrading the outside of the storefront and appear to be maintaining the parking lot. Customer service has always been above average when we've visited. If you need assistance with something, there are plenty of employees available. Grab a shopping cart - you'll need it!
