This location is in the Cumberland mall area and connected to Golf Galaxy. They have a hugeee parking lot, ready for dozens of shoppers. When I visited they had just opened and there were only a few other customers but I saw more and more as I shopped around. The store itself is huge. It was incredibly organized and laid out to catch your eye. Especially the pretty pink setup at the front which I assumed to be highlighting (or preparing to highlight) Breast Cancer Awareness month which is approaching, which I thought was lovely. I headed to the shoe section and the options were endless. I had no idea what I was looking for, to be honest. I had a slight idea but thought that I'd get some guidance here... not really. The young ladies over the shoes were incredibly sweet and patient, but I wish someone was able to offer some expertise. I tried on 2 different shoes with the help of one young lady and a young man who appeared from the back with the shoes. I didn't realize that they had devices around the shoe section that allowed you to request shoes in your size using the barcode, names, etc. Very cool! I ended up going with some colorful Nike Frees which were on sale and felt like clouds on my feet. I looked around the store on my way to checkout and phew, those prices were no joke! There didn't seem to be a huge variety in brands or pricing (lots of big names), but great variety in styles, colors and schools/teams represented. Checkout was incredibly easy and the employees at the front were helpful. Glad I found my shoes!

Employees in one department went on break at the same time, leaving the department completely unattended. I requested to speak with a manager specifically to address the lack of coverage. I was approached by an individual who identified himself as the manager, "Chris." I calmly explained what had occurred and expressed my disappointment. His response was dismissive, sarcastic, and lacked any concern or empathy. When I stated that I would be posting a Yelp review regarding the experience, he replied "thank you very much" in a sarcastic manner. As I turned to leave, he began calling my name loudly and aggressively. I exited the store. I later contacted Academy Sports corporate customer service and spoke with an individual named Sev, who identified himself as a Customer Service Supervisor. I explained the entire situation. He expressed concern and stated that he would call me back the same day. I did not receive a call back. When I contacted customer service again, I was told that Sev had emailed me. It was later determined the email had been sent to the wrong address. Once I finally received the email at the correct address, I was informed that he was too busy to call me. This experience gave the clear impression that my complaint was not taken seriously and was simply dismissed. Customer service at both the store and corporate levels was disappointing. For comparison, I have shopped at the Academy Sports location in Cumming, Georgia, and received excellent service there. Unfortunately, that was not the case at this location. I will not be returning.

Despite that, they immediately stepped up and sent me a replacement and even made sure it would arrive before Christmas. That level of integrity and customer service is rare these days. Since the victory, I've purchased a banner commemorating Georgia's championship season and another banner for the Atlanta Braves' World Series championship last October. But I bought those from the Fanatics.com website. I only recently found out about The Fans Wear. I discovered it by accident as I was in the Mall at Peachtree Center food court. It's a small sports fan store near the Chick-Fil-A. It's very colorful and well lit on the inside. When I stopped by today (February 11, 2022), there was a television broadcasting the Winter Olympics. You can find just about anything representing the major local sports teams (Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State), from hoodies, banners, collectibles, t-shirts, jackets, hats, book bags, etc., but they also have other teams as well. I was laser focused on finding a commemorative plaque representing Georgia's national championship season. I'd seen some online, but I didn't feel like ordering and waiting for it to come in the mail. The Fans Wear had the exact same plaques that I saw on the Fanatics.com website. A beautiful varsity-style black and white Georgia Bulldogs jacket that I'd never seen before caught my eye, but it cost more than I was willing to spend right then. The prices at this store are a little higher than what I saw on the Fanatics.com website. For instance, the commemorative Georgia plaque I ended up purchasing cost $99.99 there, but on the Fanatics website it just got marked down to $79.99. Still, after taxes and shipping, I probably would've paid the same price ordering it online. I bought a Georgia magnet for my refrigerator that would've cost $7 online but the vendor let me have it for only $5. With taxes, I spent a total of $114.33 for the plaque and magnet. I am pleased with my purchases and plan on coming back soon. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars are the prices and the fact that this store doesn't stay open late. Its hours of operation are 10am - 6pm, Monday - Saturday. Like most stores and restaurants in the Mall at Peachtree Center, the majority of their customers are people who work at the many high-rise offices in the area and the tourists staying at the nearby hotels. It's in a convenient location near the Peachtree Center Marta transit station. If you have money to spend and love sports, you'll enjoy it here.

Kalie was very nice, listened well, and gave great customer service. She was also attentive to detail, had lots of good knowledge with the equipment, gave me enough options to make a solid decision, and was just overall taking care of me very well. Lastly, she taught me a few things I've never even heard of. I'm very confident in the new irons and set up she fitted me for and HIGHLY recommend going to her.
