Slightly disappointed with my first experience at this place! Overall, great service. The girl who made our bowls was super nice and explained the process to us of ordering. With unlimited toppings, my group was super excited to load our bowls to fulfill our imaginations. The toppings were super crunchy and the fruits were quite fresh! Best part of the experience was definitely the toppings!!! The smoothie bases were... disappointing. I don't think I'm an expert, but in my experience, açaí bowls are a little tarte, with the robust fruit flavor cutting though. However, the açaí base was VERY sweet with no fruit flavor profile at all. It tasted like straight sugar or agave. If I closed my eyes, I honestly couldn't tell you what flavor it was. Without a strong base, the entire bowl was not as enjoyable as it could've been. I'm not sure if they make their bases in-house, since it was scooped from the freezer, so maybe it was just a bad batch? I'm not sure as it was my first time. My sister ordered the matcha base and commented that it was a bit bland for a matcha flavor. The bowls were easy to get tired of despite the plethora of toppings (since the flavor of the base was so one-dimensional). Overall, great service, amazing toppings, but for the price, I'd love a better flavored açaí base, especially since this is such a classic flavor. Additionally, you can add as many toppings as you want for the same base price. I really enjoyed the bodega style interior of the store, too. It was cute and funky. Each ingredient was perfectly fresh, and the açaí was the perfect consistency and flavor. The bowls are generous, toppings unlimited. I got a medium last time. But the bowls were so good that the next time I will get a large. Thank you so much for providing such a tasty and nutritious treat. One concern, although it is probably not a big deal. The place is small so during Covid you need to be careful to keep your distance. The owner was very nice but I was a bit taken aback at first because we were in a short aisle and he was walking towards me as I was trying to back up, within 6 feet. Other than that, no concerns. Just be cautious, as you would anywhere else. And remember everyone: 1. masks go over your mouth AND your nose 2. Don't touch your mask and then other things 3. I've been coming here since they've opened. I live here next door, and today I stopped in their new location, which is inside a hair salon, that is pretty awkward to walk inside having to pass all the hair stylists. It's a pick up option only, so we placed a order online. When I arrived I was told they were out of goji berries for both of my orders. So I asked if I can get a small portion of strawberries instead not thinking it would be an issue. I was even willing to pay for a small extra side. Once the owner "Tony" heard the interaction with myself and the employee, "who I see on a regular basis" was really rude in replying and looking at me in a very rude way, saying "we don't do that, we don't do that." Really through me off and didn't give me a chance to explain that it was a substitution and I would pay for the 4 extra strawberry slices. I paid for them and explained to the employee to tell Tony the owner sorry, I didn't mean it to take away anything free. I'm not going back even though he probably have been having a rough year switching locations and the one in victory park closing down, doesn't excuse his behavior to a regular business owner in downtown. Horrible service! Bought a Groupon for this place which was very misleading. It was a $10 voucher TOWARDS my food and I got a small bowl for $9.76 w/ taxes. They REFUSED to use it because it wasn't $10, so I was like can you charge me for the medium even though I got the small. The very rude employee said no because my boss says no with no explanation. However, I won't be going anymore. The reason is because they have the rudest workers that I've ever experienced in a food establishment in my life and I'm 40 years old.
