If I could have left a -10 on my review, I would. This was the worst dental experience of my life, assistants who stood around chatting, a one hour wait, a spooky bathroom that looked as if Freddy Krueger lives there, with a 40 watts bulb, and six paper towels total for drying hands. The dentist was rude and made sure she collected my payment before starting the work. I had seen Dr. Holness on tv and she sounded caring and professional, so I thought I would go there as she wasn't far from where I lived. She had talked about an Holistic approach to working on the patient's mouth when she did her spiel on tv. I was impressed. She pulled five teeth, and when I asked to wash my mouth out, she said, "It's your blood ain't it?" She yelled at the assistant (Marquita) asking her why she was standing there looking lost.. and telling her that Novocain was very expensive, and not to be wasted. She had her nephew working as an assistant who had no training, but was on summer break from college. This is what he told me when I asked him. I had to be numbed a few times, because she used very little the first few times. Dr. Holness asked if I wanted to see my favorite tv show. I said no, and she said what will you use, I said prayer, and she said "Me too!" I was flabbergasted but she had already started, and thus I could not have gotten up and left. She implanted some bone grafts that hurt to this day and it's impossible to chew properly. They also make you sign a bunch of forms while you are in the dental chair, so they cannot be legally responsible for shoddy dental work. I wonder how many lawsuits she has had. It will be interesting to see how long they remain in business. Now I have to find an oral dental surgeon to remove the bone grafts. The pain is unbearable. She was pushing me to get mini implants. Thank God I said no. This review is to share my frightening experience so another human being does not have to go through what I went through. I went there in August of 2022, and my mouth is still messed up in June of 2024. No calls are ever returned, and the office is always closed. DO NOT LET Dr. HOLNESS DO ANY DENTAL WORK ON YOUR MOUTH! DO NOT! LIMIED EXPERIENCE AND DEPLORABLE PAINFUL WORK! I will report this company to the Maryland Board of Dentistry, as the pen is mightier that the sword! It is rare I leave a negative review on any business because I believe in entrepreneurship. My mother came here for implants. It was an entirely bad experience. Do not go here. They started out professional and she signed an agreement which they subsequently used against her to explain away their poor unprofessional behavior. Over the next 6 months (you heard it-6 months) we encountered a "dental office" that rarely answered the phone, multiple delays in getting the right teeth, months in which my 80 year old mom could not eat solid food waiting for her teeth (months!!!!), poor communication on the status of the teeth, rude and unprofessional to the nth degree. Wow. We ended up getting her implants redone by a reputable dental clinic in Towson who had to work with the poor implant anchors that were done in Bowie. Do not risk your well being since implants are expensive to correct. The only thing that is accurate in their name is the "Bowie". "Dental Wellness" is not what we received. I am in complete shock. I have attempted to get in contact with Dr. Holness for the past four weeks, no return calls, nothing! I even drove to the office this morning, and this afternoon to see if there were any signs of business, nothing. I paid a large amount of money for services with Dr. Holness, having some dental issues, cannot get in touch, she has not returned my numerous calls. I would never have thought Dr. Holness would act this way. Due to the amount of money I have spent, I have no other choice but to report this to the Maryland Board of Dentistry. I cannot even get my records in order for another Dentist to know exactly what Dr. Holness did. This is truly a shame and gives a black eye to Dentist who are sincere. I believe in giving black business owners credit where credit is due, but I have to agree with others Dr. Holness's chairside manner is bad. I should have known better when it took 3 months to get a night guard which should have only taken two weeks to come back. Not sure what is going on now but, I have been trying for weeks to get an appointment no one has answered the phone or has bothered to call back. Optimism turned to pure disappointment.  I saw Dr. Holness's commercial and thought I would give the practice a try assuming they could help with a list of things I have going on and straightening my smile line. My wait time was about 12 minutes, no problem.  When I was greeted by Dr. Holness she stated what I was there for, I told her that was incorrect and that I was there for a "general consultation" to which she responded "there is no such thing". Okay, I don't know dental lingo. She informed me that the window allotted to my appointment would not allow her to address all of my concerns but she would do what she could in the window of time remaining.  She then went on to ask me where I lived and how I heard about the practice - I thought this was odd but since I was not given any paperwork to fill out I answered the questions.  She then asked what kind of insurance I had, odd again but I wasn't given paperwork ro fill out so okay - I answered her but at this point I felt as though her bedside manner was a bit arrogant and a tad aggressive in tone. My appointment was at 2:00P and she didn't began her assessment until 2:45P when she leaned the chair back to take some photos.  Dr. Holness called out to whom I guess is an assistant at the practice and the woman said she would could into rhe room per the doctor's request. When she didn't the doctor yelled to her a few more times with the frustration growing in her tone. Finally, someone arrived to click the necessary button to capture the images.  Another person arrived moments later and given the verbal altercation that ensued it was the woman that said she would come when the doctor first called out to her. I was surprised that the doctor would reprimand the woman over me and became uncomfortable.   The doctor left the room and a woman came to take xrays... There was a lot of bumping around, things falling to the floor, the woman asked how I was, was I nervous and began speaking under her breath that the xray machine was not actually taking the pictures and then she knocked my cellphone to the floor. I sat up and the woman decided we would take a break I asked if I could just leave since the machine wasn't working to which she responded "I'll do what I can do and if they need other picturesthey can take them themselves another time." I asked if that was okay given the fact that this is my first visit and I think a full set is needed to make a proper assessment. She repeated herself and steppd out.She came back and quickly took photos of the right side of my mouth and said we were done.  Another woman came in, introduced herself and said she was there to do my scheduled cleaning. The woman taking my xrays asked her colleague if she too had experienced trouble with the xray machine and she stated she had as well and as if I was not sitting there the xray technician stated "it wasn't working for me either, I got what I could and couldn't get the right side" and proceeded to walk out. I then turned around and told the girl there about the cleaning that I was a new patient there for a consultation and asked if that was a part of it as I understood the consultation to be a free service. The woman stated it was her first day and she was temp but would go ask. At this point, I had been "scheduled" for two things I was not actually scheduled for and the xray tech had pretended to take my xrays completely so,  I decided I should leave to avoid any further confusion. I let the woman know when she returned that I was uncomfortable and preferred to leave. I thanked her for her time and exited the office with haste. Don't waste your money. Dental work will need to be redone by a professional because the job wasn't done correctly the first time.

I really hate giving this review but wish I had read yelp before deciding to visit the practice and Dr. Holness. I'll keep it brief - I won't revisit this practice because the doctor's "chairside" manor is bad. She's confrontational and doesn't listen to her patients. I have many examples but will share one because it's related to simple kindness and could be an easy fix if she reads this and is accepting of constructive feedback. The doc needed to take my BP. Asked for my left wrist, which I lifted. She then pointed at my wrist and in an annoyed tone said "can you take that off?". It's the little things so saying "I need access to your wrist for this device, would you mind removing your watch for me?" Would have landed better. Again I could go on and on. Going to the dentist is hard enough, going to a confrontational, sassy one is unacceptable. BTW I agree with the other reviewers feedback as well. read more

I arrived for my appointment 8 minutes early. I was given some forms to fill out and waited. While I was filling out the forms, the hygienist called my name. I was given a tour and introduced to the staff. The office is beautiful and so modern. Although i was there for two hours, I suspect it was because it was my first visit. However, everyone was so nice and friendly, that the time passed quickly. I was never left waiting and wondering what was going on. I received my costs for treatment plan upfront and the work was performed after I was comfortable with the cost. I have to admit this was the best dental experience I've ever had and I plan to return. I hope Dr. Holness and her staff will continue with this level of genuine and caring service. read more

Unfortunately, after my first visit- I immediately left and looked for a new dentist. I was literally in TEARS during the cleaning AFTER I told her I have surface sensitivity and [as with most people] dread the dentist. For 10 years, never had a dentist say there was a problem and here she gives me an OVER $3000 estimate for restorations. When I said I could not do until a couple of months due to other more important finances, she loomed over me and said 'THIS IS AGAINST MEDICAL ADVISE, HOW CAN YOU NOT DO THIS ON FRIDAY?'. Other reviews have mentioned the same. Went to get a second opinion the same week and although one tooth needs attention (but not immediate), there wasn't anything wrong! The office is beautiful. The receptionist staff, although personable, still can not handle communication over the phone/email. read more

I wanted so much to be able to support this practice. When I first came to this dental office, I thought that the place as beautifully decorated. One of the staff members came out, introduced herself, and told me she will take me on a tour of the office. I thought that was nice. I had my cleaning with one of the hygienists and consultation with Dr. Holness informed me that my teeth had damage and will need to be treatment. She says each tooth is $50 to fix, but since she wants people to be treated, she is pricing it at $35. I was very dubious of the alleged damage of my teeth because I was regularly seen by another dentist (he just moved to an new state hence why I decided to look for a new practice) and an orthodontist. When I went to the front desk, they gave me a "care plan" with a list of procedures that I had to do and it cost over $4,500! I have great dental insurance, and none of the procedures she wanted done were covered by my dental insurance. I said okay, but can we start with the most urgent ones first. They told me what I should get one first and scheduled it for another day. They also asked for a $50 deposit on the procedures. A week or so before the appointment, I received soooo many texts, emails, and voice messages reminding me of my appointment. I indicated each time that I am confirming it. I am not kidding when I say that I got at least 5 reminders per day. On the day of the appointment, yet another call reminding me. After a few hours, the receptionist called again and said that Dr. Holness reviewed my car plan, and would like to change to procedure because another one was more urgent. When asked how much it would cost, she said oh, just 1k something. Omg from $200 to 1k! I do not understand how you can all me on the day of the appointment, tell me I need to change my procedure, and it is ridiculous amount of money and I need to pay it today. This was so evident to me that Dr. Holness and her practice only cares about making money. I told them to keep the $50 deposit since they seem to need to so badly. Save yourself a headache, you wouldn't want a money- hungry dentist take care of you. I see reviews from others saying something similar. read more

I went to them for the first time and i didn't like it. I was given forms for my daughter and I and after waiting awhile they called her back to get her teeth cleaned, the hygienist came out and was very rude, didn't even bother to tell me what was wrong with my daughter that she needed her wisdom teeth removed, because they are impacted. So, when we got home she had severe pains. I took her to another dentist and that's when we discovered the problem. I don't know why they didn't know this because they took a complete panoramic x-rays of her mouth. It was a total waste of time because i had to get her more x-rays at the new dentist office. I really didn't feel like they cared about her or the problem and the wait time was so ridiculous. read more

This establishment was a disappointment. Came here for a tooth removal. I nearly choked because of the mouth opener the doctor was using. She refused to be gentle when I told her I was in pain. And she didn't give a prescription after the appointment. Please do not come to this office if you're looking for an experience that doesn't include an aggressive doctor. read more

TERRIBLE! They have refused to send my grandfather's x-rays to me. I wasn't aware that it took 4+ hours to send an x-ray. The girl at the front desk "Niola" was very unprofessional and had no idea what she was talking about. Apparently, the manager is never available (pretty sure they don't have one). Please do not come here if you are expecting the front desk to do simple tasks as they clearly cannot. I can only imagine how competent this doctor is as she can't even hire staff that can send x-rays. Go to a better doctor in Bowie, they are plentiful with better staff. Wow ... if you're looking for a great dental experience, this is the place. Not only did I receive a tour of the facility, EVERYONE was so kind and professional. Also, I appreciated its use of technology that allowed me to see the current state of my teeth on a television screen, its providing me with the full cost of procedures prior to starting and overall pleasant experience. My mom, who HATES going to the dentist, loves this place. Even the ambiance of the place is comforting with its smokey color tones and modern atmosphere! read more

I went to this place because i saw commercials on TV, because i have limited financial resources being out of work due to Covid-19 i thought it best to apply for the dental plan for low income patients. Although i have multiple dental issues that need to be addressed, i felt an underlying pressure to get dental services that although i may need, but opted not to pursue due to my current financial situation. I thought it best to just take advantage of my "free cleaning" that is included in that dental plan i paid for. I guess since the practice didn't feel they could upgrade or talk me into getting additional service they opted NOT to allow me to get the cleaning i was entitled to since i paid for it under that dental plan. Total disappointment, just seems to be a practice that is intent on money grabbing for services. The pressure to get the services they recommend was intense. I thought you, as the patient had a choice; apparently not if they can't talk you into getting additional services. My advice, seek another practice. read more

I went here for a cleaning and to fix a tooth that chipped. During the first visit, the dentist told me that I had a cavity in a certain tooth and that I may need a crown for the different chipped one. I met with a woman to discuss billing where I had started to pay because all crown/filling procedures must be paid BEFORE the dentist sees you( which I thought was ridiculous). When I came back for the 2nd visit the dentist said that the cavity was on tooth that chipped and not a separate tooth (which she lied). She said she never said that and she did because that's why the other woman took my money. They called me to see if I could come early for my 2nd appointment and I could not. The dentist was so rude and acted like I was disturbing the fact that she wanted to leave early because I was her last appointment at 1pm or so. Also, they then were hesitant to give me my money back for the filling. I went to a different dentist who said I did not need a crown and she was most likely trying to get money. I have been going to Dr. Holness for a few years now. I have always had teeth issues due to chalky white teeth. She so knowledgeable and professional and took so much time to ensure I got the best option. Dr. Holness gave me at least four options for a procedure I needed.
