I recently had a delivery to the pharmacy. If I didn't pick it up within a week, it was to be returned to the shipper. I called the pharmacy and told them I was out of state for the next two weeks and asked them to look for the package and hold it until I returned. They were very nice on the phone and asked me to wait on hold while they looked for it. They soon returned and said it would be their pleasure to hold it for me. I called a few days past the mandatory return date, and agin they were very polite and assured me the package was there. Once I got back, I went to the store and spoke to a third person, who went back and got my package. Each time I spoke to someone via phone, or in person, they were very polite, efficient, and welcoming. It was a fantastic experience. read more

In a world of drug store juggernauts, it is nice to see that a little guy can make a go of it and be successful these days. Bowen Pharmacy is a small shop in Midtown West that is smaller than the gift card section at most big retail pharmacies. Don't let the small size fool you, as Bowen has a big heart. They really care about their customers. The place was very busy and the pharmacy staff seemed to know all of the customers by name. The space itself is neat and well lit. We were in there looking for an arm sling and the guy at the register came around and pointed us to the right section and even helped us find the right sling. I doubt he knew much about slings, per se, but it was just his helpful, customer-focused attitude that guided us to the right product. You rarely get that at a chain pharmacy. It would be nice if more businesses treated their customers this way. I will definitely bring more of my business here in the future. read more

Even though I have 5 Pharmacies like CVS and Duane Read close around me I rather walk the 11 blocks to Bowen. Bowen Pharmacy on 10th/55th HAD excellent pharmacy and customer service, until today. I refilled my meds and noticed I paid for a 3 months supply, but only received 1 months worth. I encountered Michael the pharmacist and explained the issue. He swore he dispensed 90, and in front of customers and staff, accused me twice of "pouring out" the pills to get more. These are BLOOD PRESSURE and WATER pills, NOT OPIODS. I showed him proof of HIS ERROR, and he barely admitted it, and refused to apologize. He then accused me of threatening him, a total LIE. Michael is a RUDE LIAR, who isn't human or adult enough to own up to any of HIS mistakes, or apologize for them. Nothing in his behaviour demonstrated good customer service. Make sure to double check anything Michael prepares for dispensing because he is flawed. I will never set foot in BOWEN PHARMACY as long as Michael is pharmacist. read more

I will say although recommend by someone , I had to experience a negative interaction when as the young manager decided to be condescending and lie when it came to a refill . His behavior , and to stand and refused to fill the script because they wanted to be power hungry has resulted in my refusal to use that pharmacy any more. In addition after taking a trip out of the way to go back home when he could have filled the script as another pharmacy did with no issues. just remember what comes arounds goes around Karma is a very string thing, Young man Google it. read more

CVS went out of network for me, and I decided to try this place as part of my effort to steer my business to local merchants. What a great choice! Within 30 minutes, they had my prescriptions transferred, had sorted out an insurance issue that had dogged CVS for weeks, and greeted me by name! Efficient, friendly, and the kind of customer experience I would be more accustomed to finding at an especially welcoming local business back home in Ohio. You don't need to be going to the Duane Reade, or the Duane Reade Express, or the CVS, or the other handful of corporate demon spawn scattered all over the city. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS! This is one of them. Wendy, the pharmacist, is awesome, professional and personable. The men are always greet with a smile, and are there to answer any of your questions. The skin care products are extensive, and include some home-made African soaps made in Brooklyn. Extensive hair care products, and lots of medical supplies too! Get it together people! Bowen Pharmacy on 10th Avenue between 57th & 58th is the best pharmacy I have ever had the pleasure to use. The entire staff is always warm and friendly, and any time I have a prescription to pick up, the staff member at the pharmacy desk in the back of the store already have it ready for me by the time I reach them. It's the kind of personal service you just do not get from the over-priced large chainstores in the neighborhood. I make it a point to shop at Bowen whenever I can and will walk a few blocks out of my way to do so.
